The dreaded ENVELOPE!

Does anyone else dread the Express Check out envelope that hangs on your door the morning of your check out day? Don't get me wrong, it's a great and convenient service, but it's like being handed a notice of eviction, that your time at WDW is up, and the magic is about to end. I remember seeing them during our stay, thinking, oh those poor people, they're checking out today, but eventually you too become one of them.

Although you are right, the envelope means the end of your stay, I love express checkout. I like being able to look at all my line items, pick up my bags and head out the door. Going to the front desk makes the sad goodbye longer....

I understand also, but I also love express checkout. It means one LESS line to stand in at Disney.

I feel exactly like you do iamatoad!
When I see the evelopes during our stay I am always grateful one of them is not mine.....but sadly it comes quick enough......way too fast actually.

:rotfl: I feel the same way! I remember going back to our room and seeing those hang on the doors and feeling sad knowing that my turn was coming soon :sad2: Kind of like how I feel on Sundays knowing what Monday morning will bring.

Well, that, and the fact that the charges have never been correct. Not even once. :confused3

I always stop at the front desk the night before to get a print out. That way I can take care of any problems then. We always seem to leave before we would get the envelope on the door.

Almost like on your last day when you're getting on the bus to go back to the airport and everyone else is getting on the bus to the parks.

I finally got around that - I just book my return flight home for first thing in the morning so I'm out of there before any Disney buses even arrive. I don't have to see anyone else getting up, going to the food courts, buses or anything.

That's a great idea and I will run with it. Last time, I spent two weeks resolving a bunch of valet parking charges to our room at WL because we were running too late to deal with it in the morning. We hadn't rented a car that trip.

I don't mind it at all...because it means that, as soon as I walk out the door of my room, I have to start planning my next trip! DH always says "Let's go somewhere else next time" while we're packing, but by the time we're at the bus stop for the bus to the airport, it's "So when are we coming back?" ;)

The only thing I dread is my DH opening it and having a heart attack! :rotfl2: And then exclaiming "THIS is our LAST TRIP!!". He always changes his mind by the time he gets our pictures developed and sees how much fun we had.

Ain't it the truth!! :teeth: Esp. if you go during the holidays

This is so funny because the last time I was there (Oct 05) I didn't get charging on my room key. When the day for checkout came, I didn't see an envelope on our door so I called down to the front desk. She actually laughed and said that was a first that someone was looking for a bill at Disney!!!

Because they've messed up charges to our account before, I always check it out the night before we leave just to make sure. Yes, it's sad and means trip is over but EVERY single time we've gone to WDW or on a Disney cruise DH, kids and I always end starting to plan next Disney trip on plane ride home, :rotfl: :wizard:

For me it's heart attack time! I swear those numbers add up by magic. I love the ease of the KTTW card but man, seeing the final $$ is a jolt!

I have a question -I will be at POP in Dec and when I get the envelope and if there are no room charges (there shouldn't be, I will be paying cash for everything) can I just leave? Or do I have to stand in line to check out?

Thanks

If there are no charges on it, you don't even receive an envelope. You can just leave!!! That's the nice thing.

Thanks, I was worried about standing in line some more!

This is what we do also. In fact if we are staying for several days I get one mid week and then the night before. I don't care for surprises and it's hard to deal with a mistake when you have to be on the road or to the airport.

Great Post! :rotfl:

It's kind of like pulling up to the Resort to check in and seeing others leaving. I'm jubilant to be arriving, but sad for them...but in the back of my mind I'm thinking...there we are next week!

P.S. I always check our bill carefully and make corrections (if any) before we leave.
