This is exactly what I was thinking....empty out the LL and give more to those that will pay for itI think they knew they needed less people in the LLs to have enough spaces to pull this off…
However I can see this working better for some families. I know FP+ worked better for my disabled son because I could schedule times that were best for him
Another way of phrasing this is “providing superior free DAS LL access only to the people who truly need it and allowing everybody else narrower accommodations that will allow them to ride with their party but doesn’t allow 5 able bodied people to get free LL access they don’t need for every one person who does need it— now the people who want group access to skip the line can pay for it and actually have LL capacity available to book, and all parties who need or pay for LLs will actually, reliably be able to board the ride less than 20 minutes after entering the LL.”This is exactly what I was thinking....empty out the LL and give more to those that will pay for it
No the ILL is remaining the same. Purchase those rides if you want (up to 2). The multi pass is going to be like FP+ (but paid). They are 2 separate things.I hated FP+. It confused and stressed me. I'm especially happy that I was approved for DAS under the new rules and can just get to rides when I get to them.
I am confused about how the new ILL multipass works. Why do I have to pay for a pass that allows for 2 ILL entries when Epcot only has Guardians on ILL? Can I use it to ride Guardians twice?
Thanks for the explanation. Not sure why the whole thing is so confusing to me, as I don't feel myself to be stupid, but it definitely is. I appreciate you taking the time to clarify the new policy. No the ILL is remaining the same. Purchase those rides if you want (up to 2). The multi pass is going to be like FP+ (but paid). Disney and its acronyms can get confusing. For all its creativity, it can overcomplicate names. Thanks for the explanation. Not sure why the whole thing is so confusing to me, as I don't feel myself to be stupid, but it definitely is. I appreciate you taking the time to clarify the new policy.![]()
I don't for one second think that they changed genie+ back to essentially FP+ but now paid in response to feedback about the DAS changes. I agree there were its own reasons that DAS needed to be changed, but returning to prebooks for Lightning Lane MultiPass (LLMP) was absolutely part of the plan before DAS changes were announced. Then, among the biggest things people are saying about being kicked out of DAS is they need a way to plan, like FP+ used to be. So they put out a revised FP+.
I wouldn't say exclusively due to feedback, that would be silly. But this is literally why people have been saying they needed DAS in the first place, since long before they tightened up on it. So it is certainly not completely unrelated.I don't for one second think that they changed genie+ back to essentially FP+ but now paid in response to feedback about the DAS changes. I agree they didn't do the Genie+ revamp just in the past month. Things like this take some time. But I don't doubt that part of the reason for changing is feedback from guests who really wanted/needed that ability to plan some rides in advance. There's no doubt one of the big impacts to DAS was the elimination of FP+ and a lot of folks have mentioned that they never requested DAS until FP+ disappeared because they were able to manage their needs with the pre-booked attractions. Does it work for everyone? No. But for many it may relieve some of the concern about losing DAS access. Yes, it's a paid service now, but everyone has to pay to pre-book (no more free prebooks with DAS).I don't for one second think that they changed genie+ back to essentially FP+ but now paid in response to feedback about the DAS changes. Yes, all these changes take time to plan and were coordinated in an overhaul of the entire line queue process. It would have been a project spanning several months before making the first change to DAS, and now the LL updates.I wouldn't say exclusively due to feedback, that would be silly. Odd, I feel the exact opposite, I think Lightning Lane should be strictly first come, first served after scanning to enter the gate, prescheduling does not work for DH’s needs nor really for mine as we learned with the prescheduled DAS times.I think the new way will be more user friendly for one thing
Hope the new system works for people! I think a lot of people didn't like having to get up at 7am on vacation. It's great that Disney provides DAS for free, but I don't think we need to expect Disney to accommodate all of our needs for free. I have to plan very expensive scooter rentals into my trip, and that's way more than a paid Lightning Lane service!Yes, it's a paid service now, but everyone has to pay to pre-book (no more free prebooks with DAS).
