Yesterday there was a story in German newspapers about this guy...apparently he use to preach in Germany and had a pretty large following but then the Germans got a whiff of what a scociopath he is and started to do some poking around into his following. Truth be told, he and his wife were basically run out of the country. They are reporting that some of his former followers are still in therapy to get over their experiences. The conclusion was that this guy is just looking for publicity because he went from hundreds of followers to just 38.

How is it worse to burn the American flag than to burn a holy book that millions of people respect and honor? No one revered icon takes precedence over another.

The guy doing this is not right in the head. I, my parents, SIL and grandmother all live within 5 minutes of where this is going to happen and we're all concerned. DH and I are planning to stay home that day b/c with the people in town for the Gator home game and this going on it's going to be hard to get around town.

The man who is doing this has something seriously wrong with him to put people around him in possible jeopardy so he can do this. He likes the attention he is getting which only spurs him onward. If people just ignored him then it would be better for everyone. This is not the first incident with him and his "church". His group wears "Islam is the Devil" t-shirts around town, they have sent their children to school wearing these shirts. They even have worn them on the university campus. If people ignored them then they would probably go away. Their group seems to thrive on publicity which makes them go on to other things such as the burning this weekend.

I have experience with this "Church" firsthand. They are located in Gainesville, FL-- where I went to college (UF) and they were always on campus, yelling, condeming, etc.

As a Christian, I believe I have the authority to say that a huge part of Christianity is love. Love is the furthest possible thing happening at Dove.

Its certainly "safer" to burn the American Flag. Burning the koran will not go unaddressed by the "offended".

This guy isn't of God; he's a disgrace.
I hear other faiths in the comunity are doing other things this Satruday to counteract his intentions ie a book drive at the mosque.

WESH said that he and his wife sell stuff on EBAY, so watch it.
Their church is for sale, BTW. Price reduced to just over a million....

I am questioning this guy's religion. There are only 50 in his "congregation" and he sounds very much like a Fred Phelps kind of guy and the Westboro Baptist Church which protests at the funerals of our fallen heros to be deliberately provocative. What might work is less attention paid to this nit wit but that won't happen.

I heard that Fred Phelps of the Westboro Baptist "church" said if Dove doesn't have a koran burning, then he will. I knew he couldn't last without negative attention for as long as he has.

The people of Westboro and Dove World know each other. So, it doesn't surprise me that if one doesn't the other will.
