Has anyone eaten at the Fountain inside the Dolphin resort? It's menu looks great...really diverse. We land at 2pm and are looking for a late lunch in one of the MK or Epcot area resorts. However, quite a few of the resort cafes seem to close between 3 and 5 to turn over from lunch to dinner (Kona, GF Cafe, etc.), but the Fountain says 11am to 11pm. Any opinions?

Also, is it a table service or more of a pick-up your order at the counter?

Thanks...:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Is the Fountain the place between Fresh and BlueZoo?

Actually, I am ashamed to say that I don't know the indoor set-up at the Dolphin at all. I only know about The Fountain from the menus listed on The DIS.

Is there a cafe type place between Fresh & Bluezoo? That might be it. What does it look like?

Thanks! :)

Well, I just checked the menu, and it seems like that is the place. We just ate an early dinner there Thursday night. I'll be reviewing it when we get back home, in my new review thread.
In a nutshell:
You seat yourself, but it is table service. We had a waitress. I believe there has been some change since the DIS menu was posted, b/c the fries with the burger and other sandwiches was an extra $2.25 now. The BLT and cheeseburger were above average for what we had during the week at WDW. I would have no problem eating there again, especially with the DVC 20% discount.

Excellent! Thank you.

May I just ask where are the restaurants located in the Dolphin? Are they off of the main lobby, or in a seperate, more hidden, area of the resort?

Also, is it a nice atmosphere? Relaxing or more frenetic?

The restaurants are either on level 1 or level 2. Level 2 is the lobby level, and Shula's is up there off in a corner past the central and west elevators. Also, there is a bar area which serves breakfast coffee and pastries in the a.m. These 2 places are what I would call 'right off the main lobby'.
Level 1, ground floor, has the access to the boat transpo dock, gym, arcade, and the pool (and such). You can see the entrances to Fresh, the Fountain, and BlueZoo from the bottom of the escalators. The bottom of the escalators lead you out to the bottom of the Dolphin's fountain, and on over to the boat dock for WDW transpo to Epcot and DHS.

Everything is pretty easy to find, especially if you just look for the escalators, to get yourself oriented.

The Fountain was relaxed, the place has a pretty open layout. It's a casual atmosphere.

This sounds perfect...exactly what I am looking for in a relaxed late lunch! Thanks for taking the time to explain everything. I am very excited to become more familiar with the Dolphin Resort...and someday I will probably find my way around to the Swan!:goodvibes

I have never eaten here, but my niece ate here a few times this fall while on her honeymoon (she stayed at the Dolphin). She said it was great, and a lot less money than the other CS (Picabu?).

We've eaten there several times and will return again on the future. We like the menu, it's seldom crowded enough to have to wait for a table and the service is good. Also, DVC members get a 20% discount by showing their DVC membership cards.

If you enter the resort from the Crescent Lake side, the Fountain is on the first floor, just to the left of the escalators going up to the lobby area. Blue Zoo is to the right.

We liked it much better than Picabu, too, like the other poster said.

The food is good, the wait staff was nice, and the price wasn't as mucha s Picabu.

Does CS mean Counter Service? I thought that this was a table service location per the previous posters. Can anyone clarify...maybe I am just getting the abbreviation wrong.

I am imagining something more like Peco Bills now, when I was originally thinking of The Fountain as more of a Kona Cafe type place.

I haven't eaten a meal at The Fountain in several years, but they have good ice cream. They also give a 20% AAA discount. By the way, the Dolphin's lobby is on the 3rd floor. It's a LONG escalator ride up to the lobby from ground level. :)

If you like reuben sandwiches, the ones at ESPN Club on the Boardwalk are very good, as are the fries that come with.

I have eaten there a few times and the food is good. Burgers, fries, BLTs etc.; plus a large ice-cream selection. As a previous poster stated you seat yourself and then a server comes and takes your order.

If you are coming into the resort from the main entrance you have to go down stairs to get to the restaurant, but if you are coming in from the back by the Boardwalk entrance it is right to the left of the entrance.

Enjoy!!

Yes, it's table service. I beleive the ice cream aprt has a take out area.

BTW....if you ahve kids with good grades, bring their report cards. They can save either 10 or 20% off kids meals. I believe if you go down to the walk up ice cream area, they get free ice cream.

:)

I was there in december 07, real late, just in the last 30 minutes before closing.
We only had dessert, Two of us had a shake, and one of us had a brownie sunday. The ice cream was soft serve, and the brownie was a bit on the stale side, but it met our needs - something sweet at 10:30 at night when we were staying at the swan.
