The Dobies stayed at the Disneyland Hotel from 8/8 to 8/12.
1. I had booked a standard room, but received a high floor (8) pool view room in the Dreams Tower for the asking. The room was clean and fresh, but rather small, I thought. There are 3 Dobies and I wouldn't want to put 4 in there. The Dreams Tower is marvelous for pool access, though. . .in this case it way beats the GCH. The Neverland Pool was open, and the other, smaller pool was drained. I saw no other signs of construction in the pool area. However, a casual glance at the Wonder Tower made me think that they could not POSSIBLY have any refurbished rooms opened there.
2. The weather was fantastic! Highs were in the mid 70's. I have never before been to DL and not been hot and exhausted by mid afternoon. In fact, we only did one afternoon break all week.
3. We had Fantasmic Dessert package, and enjoyed the show. There is just way too much rich food in the dessert packages, though. I couldn't eat but a nibble. We could see the high fireworks from the seats, but missed a lot of them.
4. We never tried WOC--it just seemed too overwhelming.
5. OK, wait times. We got to the park "around" opening every morning, and rode easily until 11 or so. We saved fastpasses for evening and never used them all. When I checked wait board times, the maximum waits seemed to be around 60 minutes mid afternoon for the biggies. We waited 45 minutes for TSMM mid afternoon--other than that, our maximum waits were 15 minutes. Space Mountain had a 45 minute wait at park closing on Tuesday.
6. The park seemed packed with people, even in the early morning, but as mentioned above, the wait times were reasonable. Most of the people seemed to be from out of town.
7. Soarin' seems rather tired. . .there were spots on the print and I could see the lines on the screen. And Buzz was pretty scratched up. However, I have never seen Small World or Indy look better.
8. Single Rider is the way to go on Splash Mountain. Especially since you don't get to sit next to each other anyway.
9. The Mimosas at La Brea Bakery were marvelous (and cheaper than the beers at the DLH pool bar.) There is nothing like doing Buzz with a buzz on!
