At the most recent Dixie Chicks concert in England, singer Natalie Maine said, "You should all know that we're ashamed that our President is from Texas". This begs one question. WHERE IS EARL WHEN YOU NEED HIM?

I am assuming the backlash on this one will be pretty significant. Typically, country music fans are extremely patriotic. Personally, I think it shows very little character to wait until your in a foreign country with a sympathetic crowd to state your opinions. If this is what she truely believes then it is her right to say that but why not say it in her next Texas concert.

Let's hope people don't buy their CDs now! :teeth: They have zero singing abilities as it is.

Maybe she was afraid she would have to watch out for those "blackeyed peas".

who the heck cares? so they are embarrassed he is from texas, whoopdedoo!

many people over on the dabte board right now, across the political spectrum, have said that hollywood actor's opinions don't matter to them, so why should this.

and you know what? i'm embarrassed he is our president at all!

I'm ashamed of them! Why did they have to bring politics into it anyway? Even if they disagree with President Bush's policies, as Americans they should have shown a little respect for our leader and our country. As American entertainers, they are unofficial ambassadors of the USA. At a time when so many countries dislike us,this was not the thing to do. Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you have to make everyone aware of it. No matter what our party affiliation,we all need to present a united front. Texans, what do you think of her remark?

If I'm at a concert, I want to hear the music, I could really care less about what the performers' political thoughts are. Why do they think we care? Sing the song and shut up!:p

I will never buy one of their CD's.
I am proud of our President. I am proud to say I voted for him. What would Gore have done in this situation? I am even afraid to think about it. President Bush is the only president I know that sent me a $600 check! And he gave our military a raise the first weeks in office, what a great man!

No matter what our party affiliation,we all need to present a united front.

Its hard to present a united front when you are adamantly opposed to this war. Sorry, GWB and Operation Just Because do NOT have my united front.

I do support our troops, however, and pray that their strife will be minimal. I pray for the American people in that we don't see more attacks on our soil. And I pray for the innocent people in Iraq.

As far as the Dixie Chicks, I think they have as much right to voice their opinion as anyone else. And I think they are immensley talented! :)

President Bush is the only president I know that sent me a $600 check!

How far do you think that $600 went for all the families out of work right now?

Now you know how I felt during the eight years of the predator in chief.

I would guess this is going to cost them some serious money. she may have the right to made stupid statements but she'll still have to pay the bill for it, lol. There's no free lunch and stupidity has a higher price tag than most things in life.

Well said Snoopy, I agree :)

and I'm a bit confused why it was ok for people to go on and on for 8yrs about how they dislike Clinton and think he was an embarassment, but it's not ok to voice any dissent about GWB.

Seems pretty damn hypocritical to me.
If it's not ok to criticize the President now, then it should always be not OK.

I agree with Snoopy that they have a right to their opinion, but if I was at their concert, I would want them to put on a show for me singing their songs, not have a pseudo-political rally. There is a time and place for everything, and if I was paying to hear them sing, I don't want to hear about their political views at that time, jmo.

she's entitled to her opinion just as the rest of us are...

it will not stop me from buying their cd's or attending their upcoming concert...

MosMom, my check fed and clothed my family, it may not go far but it helped. It was money I didn't have and was lucky to get. My husband is in the Army, he can be sent to the middle east as fast as tomorrow, everyday he processes his friends to be sent over. Do you know a lot of military families qualify for welfare, food stamps and WIC? Some out of work families make more from unemployment checks then one military family makes. This is how our military is treated, the ones who are over there fighting for your freedom. Men and women who don't even know you, will never meet you are willing to die for you? President Bush favors the military, gave our men and women raises and gave us tax money back, I am proud to say he is our President! If your out of work use it wisely it's possible, our family did. And if you are so concerned with a family out of work you should have given them your check.

Even if I happened to like President Bush and had voted for him, I would not stop buying Dixie Chicks albums just because they voiced their opinion on him.

That is what our great country allows and just because we are in a time of war, doesn't mean all have to follow Bush and agree with everything he says and does with big smiles on our faces.

I want to know why these celebrities honestly think we care what they think about foreign policy. Ohhhh yeaaahhhh I'm going to stop supporting W. because the Dixie Chicks don't like him!

Where were all these celebrities protesting the war in Kosovo or Clinton's continued bombing of Iraq? NO WHERE! Such hypocrisy I have never seen.

And he gave our military a raise the first weeks in office, what a great man!

While I certainly appreciate all payraises, let's remember that the payraise that occured in 2001 was a result of the budget submitted by President Clinton for fiscal 2001, not by anything that President Bush did within the first few weeks of his administration. In fact, the payraise at the beginning of 2001 took effect 3 weeks before President Bush even took office, so I don't see how we can give him credit for that one.

I agree 100% that President Bush has been great about giving good military payraises, but let's not forget that the best payraises the military had between 1988 and 2001 were given by President Clinton.

lol at the picture, mosmom. :p

Why do they think we care?

I want to know why these celebrities honestly think we care what they think about foreign policy.

well, i have to say -- if people don't care, why then is this thread so long? why then are poeple claiming they will boycott the dixie chicks?

sounds like people care to me.
