The Disneyland Hotel Superthread

Possibly, it's been about 7 years since I looked it up. But I do remember concluding that I thought it was the water. Not that it was dirty, just something there that my skin didnt agree with. We have showered in soft water for 20 years in our normal everyday life.
I got the Disney rash the last time I was at WDW. I thought it was from some chemicals that they used to clean the walkways. It also happened on one other very hot vacation (maybe Las Vegas??).

I am trying to decide if whether to book a deluxe studio (preferred view) or a regular non-DVC room (premium view) at DLH.

I've stayed in the regular rooms before but not sure if the DVC studios are worth a try this time around?

It’d be 4 in our group. (if everyone does go)

PS: We are booking on cash this time not points sadly. 🥲 but that’s okay.
I just saw this. If you haven't booked, yet, I recommend the deluxe studio. The theming is great and having a kitchenette makes a difference, especially if you have leftovers (which I often do). I have slept on the Murphy bed and my friend slept on it once and we both thought it was fine. I've never been impressed with the regular rooms at DLH, but I love the DVC rooms. Not a fan of the Duo studios, but the deluxe studio is great.

@AustinTink I would for sure email or call about your experience. Last time we stayed at the DLH, we woke up on our check out day with no hot water. It was awful!! I called and they offered to move us (we already showered and we were checking out) and because of that, they gave us a credit on our room I believe. So maybe they can give you some money back on your cc for this experience.

In any case, they should know this room sounds like it needs some major help! So sorry you had that experience. Our last stay at the GCH was very similar (minus the sewer smell) but our room was not clean and furniture was super beat up. It was not what we expected for $900 a night.

Just got back from a night in a deluxe studio preferred view (2nd floor overlooking the steamboat willie play are and pool), the room was gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. I was able to rent points from a friend for a bargain which made it all the more sweeter. I say go for it!

Sad to hear the GCH is starting to show more wear as well. It’s ridiculous what they will pass off as a $900 a night room. They know they can and we will keep coming back.

I found an email form online for the DLH and shared our experience from last week. We shall see if they contact us.

Update: guest services called me in response to my email. They were apologetic but were not going to offer any sort of compensation. Of course, they pushed the fact that I should have said something while we were there and I pushed back that I was not willing to lose any park time dealing with the situation, so I chose not to deal with it on our vacation.

The CM was cordial, as was I. We went over a long list of items that were wrong with the room. At the end of the call, he offered $100 a night compensation. I said fine, because I’m tired of thinking about it.

We all came home with covid, so this trip is the gift that keeps on giving. I’m too sick to deal, so $100 a night is perfectly fine with me.

Hi, Disney Rash is exercise-induced vasculitis and is basically from your activity in hotter locations. Stay hydrated, maybe try some Liquid IV. Some folks apply Benadryl or cooling towels.

Thanks! I realize that now but, at the time (15 yrs ago), it was disconcerting. I go to Disneyland several times a month and don't get the rash. I'm local so my body is used to this weather and I'm not walking on pavement for several days in a row. I've taken several vacations that involve a lot of walking (and hiking) and the only other place where I got it was Las Vegas. That's what led me to conclude that it was a combo of walking, pavement and heat that leads to the rash.

We're heading back to WDW in April 2025. I'm not sure what the weather is like that time of year, but I'll be more prepared this time.

I'm sorry that you have COVID. What days were you in the hotel? Could your sense of smell have been off because you had COVID and didn't know it?
Interesting. We felt sick the day after we got home which was 4 days ago. Tested positive yesterday. If anything, my kid was most bothered by the smell and he didn’t get covid with us. He just had it last month so I guess he’s immune right now.

I’m sorry to hear you all have Covid. I had it in 2021 and it about ended me 😔. My whole family had it as well and some still have issues with smells, not saying that what it was at the hotel, but oftentimes a smell will be magnified for my husband. Sending prayers you all heal quickly

Thanks for your kind words. This is my 6th time getting it and it’s one of the more severe cases we’ve had.

Hi, all. I was at VDH end of August and am stoked to have gotten a room this morning for my spontaneous trip this week. Last time I was there I self parked on the roof. Is there covered parking as well or it all open air?

Self parking is not covered. That roof top when open and the ground level lot. 👍🏻

Hi - we are staying at the DLH in June. We are going with my sister's family and booked the e-ticket lounge since we are far from California and it's likely a one-time thing for them. I just heard that it's being refurbished. If anyone hears when the new lounge will open up - I would love to know! It sounds like it may be in June. Fingers crossed it opens in early June so it's done for our trip. Thanks!

We reserved a 2 bedroom family connecting suite at the DLH. Is there a location or locations we should request? Thanks!

I wish I had an answer for you. I just don't. What I will share with you from my DLH experience is that I like an appreciate all the towers. I have not visited the DVC tower, however. The Fantasy, Adventure and Frontier towers are all great in my opinion and I have read some of the cons with various towers and I just don't have the same opinion. No one is right or wrong, I just agree to disagree with the cons.

We had a 2BR connecting suite in the Fantasy Tower. It was on the top floor, right across from the Mickey Signature Suite so it was very quiet because no one can afford the Mickey Suite 🤣
Did your connecting suite have a balcony by chance?
