OP here. So it seems that some people don't mind additional up-charge restaurants . The thing that got me hooked on cruising way back when was that it as all inclusive (mostly). I guess I just don't understand why people are willing to pay more for restaurant or experiences with an additional charge when we are paying a premium for a DCL already. The only reason we go to Palo's now is we get it for free being Platinum otherwise we wouldn't go just because of the added cost. My other fear is when the new island on Lighthouse point is built that they don't turn it into what RC did on "A Perfect Day on Coco Cay". I know someone that had to pay an additional $500 for his family to have access to some of the "attractions" they have. Hopefully with Joe Rohde heading up the design this won't happen.
Cruises to Cuba!!!
I so agree on the announcement comment. I am hard of hearing and this is always an issue for me.The new ship WILL be based out of Port Canaveral, it is a formal agreement with Disney that all new ships will be based out of PC.
My wishes are that when announcements are made you can hit a button on your in-room phone or TV and HEAR what they are saying instead of standing at the door in your PJs with the door cracked to know what is going on. An option for adult only excursion - Grand Cayman - an excursion to Cayman Island Brewery and the Rum Factory and don't throw a beach into every tour.
DH would wish for them to bring back the Jazz music station to the TVs. We use to have it playing anytime we were in the room.
We don't have kids, but still only cruise DCL - More adult geared activities during sea days. Someone mentioned educational seminars about ports of call... that would be cool.

Pipe dream but if you cruise solo, you pay solo not double occupancy rate.
Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me but I thought the announcements were available on the information channel on the TV as well as the hallway speakers? Maybe have that channel as a preset memory on the remote you can just press and take you there. I would say have the TV automatically switch or display it like EBS but that would be problematic for folks that don't want to hear the optional announcements.
Or if the second person in the room is a kid to charge them at the kids rate. When we get 2 rooms (connected) we get charged for 4 adults and 1 kid vs. 2 adults & 3 kidsYes!! I would sail a lot more if this was a thing
It would be nice to have closed captioning for the announcements. It is a real issue for guests who are auditorily challenged or have a napping kid in their room.
Actually they will be using Port Canaveral for some of the new ships, the goal eventually is to move one or more of the ships to Port Miami, currently using Terminal J there is too small for the newer ships, but they signed a MOU with Port Miami to build a exclusive terminal on the south side of Dodge Island for Disney's newest ships that use LNG for fuel, as they'll construct a LNG fueling facility there so they won't have to use the fuel barges to fill up the ships. I'm assuming they'll try to begin construction of the new terminal in Miami before the 6th & 7th ship are launched. But time will tell. The new ship WILL be based out of Port Canaveral, it is a formal agreement with Disney that all new ships will be based out of PC.
