Thank you much for the info.
I appreciate your time on this.
I understand the whole thing now.
But no - it doesn't ease the sting. It still sucks. ha ha ha.

lol

Sorry it still stings.

If it's any consolation, a lot of restaurants (at least where I live) automatically add an 18% gratuity for parties of 6 or more.

Yes, this is common practice in the service industry in Canada too...not necessarily at diners but anything with slightly better quality.

We were also told "tips" weren't included there. However, what if one doesn't have cash and doesn't want to put it on their kttw? Do you have to charge it on a cc at checkout from the PM? We always had cash and left just a little as they always did a wonderful job and it was well deserved, however I don't think the waitor would know whether you were on the dining plan or not. The cashier at checkout did not ask us to pay anything there, she just told us we could leave money on the table if we felt it was appropriate.

I am sorry if this has been asked and answered before but I am new to this thread. Does Akershus Royal Banquet Hall the Princess Storybook experience include gratuity like CRT does? I was not sure. Just trying to plan how much to bring with me for gratuity (estimate). Thank you for your help!! :)

It does not include gratuity, but does include the pictures.

The plan states that tips are not included for TS meals...so what happens there? I assume they bring a bill that shows what the total would have been if paying cash, and then we base the tip amount on that? And then what? Can you charge the tips (and other things like alcohol) to our room? I'm trying to decide if I should to the plan or not...thanks!

Hi!!! We will be going to Disney tomorrow!! There will be five of us on the dining plan and now that it doesn't cover tipping I was wondering, do they put the tip amount that you owe on your bill? Or do we decide what we tip? We are generally good tippers but just wondering!

Thanks

They do not put the tip on there. They do however put suggestions such as 15% will = this amount
17% will = this amount
and so fourth.

So when you get the bill it will be printed on there. You don't have to do the amount, but at least you know what it should be. You can always use a calculator to check the math.

We have used the dinning plan in the past prior to the changes w/ the gratuities. I just happened to think about our situation. We have one room w/ 2 adults who will have the basic dining plan on their reservation and the remaining 5 adults and 2 children in another room w/ the basic dinning plan on our reservation. We are eating all our meals together and my question for the non-buffet restaurants - should we tell them ahead of time how to split the check so that everyone gets the right amount of gratuity charged or do they figure it out differently?
We leave tomorrow  - can't wait.

Yes, tell your server when you are seated (most likely they will ask first). This way the party of 2 will be presented with the accurate gratuity bill. Plus the server will need both cards to process the credits at the end. The servers are very good at this by now and have no problem keeping things straight.

Thanks for the info, that's great. Thanks also for moving my thread, I didn't realize there was a special thread for tipping questions. That would explain why I couldn't find anything when I searched, I didn't even look at the stickies.

for parties of 6 or more the gratuity of 18% will be added onto each room's bill

(and for TiW (DDE) it is 18% regardless of party size :))

Gratuity is included at this location.

Gratuities are also included for dinner shows such as the Luau and Hoop Dee Doo

This above i coped from this thread at the beginning. and it is dealing with the 2008 regular DDP. It was news to me. Is this correct? :confused3

Also since tipping has been removed does this affect the DDP at CSR's Pepper MArket? Will we be required to pay the 10% that the DDP use to cover?

Thanks for all and any help from my fellow DISers!:goodvibes

Relief to kow because on another thread people were saying that the 10% wasn't included on the DDp. We leave soon and I am trying to find out.

Hey, I see that gratuity is not included on the Disney dinning plan. I also see that if you go to Disney during the end of Jan/start of Feb... you get a free $200 dollars disney gift card.

Now, my family would never dine somewhere without tipping... so we know that is going to be an added cost. BUT, what I wanted to ask is: Can we use this free gift card to pay the tips at our dinners?

If anyone knows anything about this then please let me know and THANK YOU!

:)

I don't know the answer to your question but have never heard of this gift card.... I am going Feb 6 - so I am wondering, where did you hear about this? Do you have a link? Thanks!
