The Disney Magic to be sailing out of NYC in 2016!

I am SO excited for the 5 night Canada cruise....just hope the prices aren't INSANELY higher than the last time they sailed out of NYC!

I wanted to get a ballpark idea -- what year were those last NYC Canada cruises? Wanted to look at what the rates were... anyone remember?

If you go to the thread about the new itineraries for 2016 there is a link to the prices of the NYC cruises from 2012......I only wish it was a week or two earlier but I know the ship is coming back from Europe!!!! The more I think about it....the more worried I am it will be too cold!!!!

My DH and I did this cruise. While it wasn't hot, it was comfortable wearing long pants and jackets. The only time I felt cold was sundown. Also, not many top deck activities as a southern cruise. The ports are beautiful. Highly recommend Peggy's Cove as an excursion.

All the NYC dates are blocked out for OBB except for the 11/5 repositioning to San Juan.

Thanks so much!

Well.... I guess that makes the decision whether to wait until July when I cruise or just book now much easier.....

Silly question.....do you sail by the Statue of Liberty or is it visible at all and which side of the ship would you want to be on to see it?

This is so cool since it would be a (fairly) easy drive for us to NYC. I read on another post that the NYC cruises were expensive when they were offered in 2012 - but they were also in the summer.
For us it would have to be a pretty good price to book it, we would have to save whatever the airfare would cost more or less otherwise sailing out of NY defeats the purpose for us.... I'm also not that excited about going to Florida and Bahamas only (versus week-long Caribbean) but I would still love to go for 2 reasons... 1 - Disney cruise and 2 - NYC departure!
So I'm just wondering... will these cruises be crazy expensive and are they expected to sell out fast?

Yes you sail right by it. I was on the last NYC cruise.

I expect with only 4 south sailings these will sell out super fast no matter what the prices.

She'll be on the starboard (right) side of the ship as you depart.
So, on the port (left) when you come back in to the upper harbor, but you'll have to be up fairly early, most likely by 5 AM, maybe even earlier. Last time in NYC, MAGIC was usually tied up at the pier pretty early.
Passing under the Verazzano-Narrows Bridge, then seeing the Statue, and the NYC skyline, now with 1 World Trade Center (it's NOT "the Freedom Tower", folks) is always a thrill. Enjoy!

PS -, hi, Skip, I haven't been around the boards for a while, glad to see you still on top of things!
regards, Capt. Ken

We were on one of the 8-night cruises out of NYC in 2012. The prices were high then and they had the whole summer. With just a few cruises this time and the fact that they have blocked the OBB for them I would expect them to be high.

For the few of you who have previously done the 5-night Canada sailing.... can you tell us a little about what it was like. we are considering this one b/c Nova Scotia is on our Bucket list, but I don't know much about what types of excursions are offered in these ports. Any advice/info much-appreciated....
