*************The Disney Fund Game Sign-ups and Guide***********

This is a simple game for everyone to share how they are saving for disney vacations and give each other support in our quest.

How does it work?

1.To sign-up just post here that you wish to join in stating a figure you have in mind which you would like to reach and i will add your name to the list.(Please also include amount saved so far). Plus include when and where your disney vacation is planned.

2. Open a seperate account if possible to keep your Disney funds in, if this is not possible don't worry but it makes it harder to dip into if you have it put somewhere else.

3.Then come back as often as you add into your fund, even if its only a small amount and keep a tally so i can update on the board.

The amount you save can we done in any currency you choose and anyone from any country can join in.

£100 transfered from another account i had some savings in.

total £600 saved.

I also have 2 tins one with silver coins in and one where i save every £2 coin i come across, need to check how much i have collected so far to add to the money raised so far.

The min amount i need is £4500 more would be nice.

I'll join...

Going October 2013 for 3 weeks.

Target of £3500

Already saved:
£473 in savings account
£500 in ISA
£230 cash in the attic

Total of £1203 = £2297 to go!

I plan to save a minimum of £165 a month between now and when we go to hit the target of £3500, aiming for £240 a month to hit an upper target of £4500 to give me more spending (have my eye on a new dSLR, cheaper to buy in the US!)

:goodvibes

Unplanned trip. Will only happen if I can save the money and I can find a GOOD discount on a room.

$2000 - goal for unplanned trip
$10- Disney GC from Disney Movie Rewards
$50- Rainforest Cafe GC from MyPoints

$1940 - total left to "find"

I will join...

Spring Break 2013

GOAL: $5000

2 $10 giftcards Disney
Cashed In Change $78
Saving Dollars $20

Remaining: $4882

I would really like to fund this trip in as much "found money" as possible...We set aside money from income tax and our payroll already but I am not counting that just yet! :) I want to show the kids by a little planning how you can make some money. Plan on doing Craigslist, and putting some items in my sister's garage sale. I have also set a weekly food budget, any money left over from that will be put in the fund. The kids are already getting involved watching for coupons!

We started our Disney 2013 Plastic Tub where we start putting toiletries we get pretty cheap by couponing too. Saves me a big Walmart/Target run before we go. Still need to write up a master list for items!

Wow this will be fun and motivating!! Thanks for starting this thread.

Count me in!
Our trip is October 25th 2012 Total trip budget is $4000
What I've saved/paid so far...
Airline tickets
park tickets
MNSSHP tickets
$150 room deposit
Total saved/spent so far = $1800

Total needed to go = $2200

I have a jar I am putting change and bills in for total "mad money" above and beyond my very well padded budget. I'm going to use this for completely random things we might want and it is not included in the budget above. So far I easily have $100! :woohoo: Hoping to have $300 for our trip so that when my boys ask for something completely outrageous that I would normally give a quick "no" to..I'll say SURE :) And..secretly...I'm hoping to have them both in the Typhoon Lagoon Surfing school..fingers crossed :goodvibes

Updating with all your details now :)

Checking all my finances now and adding my total saved so far, also going to sort out another account on monday.

For our Oct trip, we'll be there 9 nights, 2 adults, 1 disney adult and 3 children.

RCI fee $95
MNSSHP $335
Travel exps $600
Misc (tips, shopping, etc) $300
Food $800 (max)
OL fee $25

So we're looking at around : $2155

Have:

$80 in gas cards (travel)
over $100 in restaurant GCs (food)

Haven't really started saving for this trip yet. The GCs are just leftover from May/June since we flew instead of drove.

We are going to DL at the beginning of August, so getting down to the wire. I'm budgeting about 3K-5 people for 7 nights-but I'd like to surprise the family with an upgrade to DLH for the last 2 nights, which will add $560 or so. Eek.

So far:
Paid for our tickets in cash-$970 or so.
800 saved for hotel room.
420 in Disney gc-many through things like Field Agent and quick rewards.
Total so far-2190. Will have an additional 400 in our travel savings account by the trip-just need to figure out another 500-1000.

How timely! We just decided to aim for a birthday trip (between two birthdays) in early February 2013 to WDW, to either one of the value resorts or FW. We plan on saving at least $2,000 for the trip. We're saving for it in several ways, the primary way being that we'll contribute a minimum of $25 every week that we make our budget for the week, plus any unused portion of the weekly budget. We are also saving all pocket change (which adds up since we mostly buy things in cash). If we top $2,000 in time for the trip, we may match what we've saved during the year with money from our tax return, allowing us to add a few stops on the drive down.

We just started saving today and we put $60 in.

I would love to participate! My kids and I are trying to save $2000 for an ultra cheap end of summer trip. We are annual passholders so tickets aren't an issue.

So far we have:

$25 Disney Gift card
$150 from selling some gold
$40 from selling old cameras
$??? in silver coins
$??? in 1 dollar bills tucked into the Disney savings bank
$8 rebate check that will be added to the account once I open it :)
$??? for books that I hope to sell on half.com

This is a dream trip so even if we don't make it, my kids at least will have a goal this summer. Everytime they see a penny on the ground they are like crazed lunatics because it means they are 1 cent closer to the mouse.

$??? in silver coins

Now is a bad time to sell silver, the price is fluctuating wildly day by day. Besides, before you consider selling it you should know if it has any numismatic value, that is value for being a good condition coin of some kind, besides being composed of silver. I'd take your collection to two different reputable coin shops (not "we buy gold" type places, they often have no idea what they're dealing with with coins) for an estimate on the value of the collection. Even small coins or small collections can have outsized values. I'd hate for you to have inherited a collection, for instance, and let it go at spot value. Good luck!

Just got paid and my goal of $250 didn't happen due to a double car payment. Hoping to get $ tomorrow and will put it right into savings. Even so I did add $40 to my cash jar :-$

Good luck to everyone planning and saving! :-)

Updating with new people joining us

Just a reminder can you please when saving money each time give me a new total saved, it makes it more easy for me to update.

Also if any figures are wrong please let me know and when you reach your target.

We are going to the World this December. We are spending 3 days outside of the world first, we haven't decided where yet. We would like to stay in Clearwater. We stay at POR riverdide for 8 days, we have parkhoppers and a meal plan. We have budgeted for the dining plan and are hoping that free dining will show up. ;) We are planning on attending the christmas party also. We were lucky enough to open the SW card when they had 50,000 points so the airfare was covered. :thumbsup2 We are also getting a rental car, my youngest doesn't handle the busses well.

My kids don't know that we are going yest but they are always saving for "someday" when we can go back. They take back refundable bottles and put the money in our "disney" changebottle/bank. They help out around the house, take back the neighbors garbage cans, etc. We have a change bank that has approximately 650.00, this is our spending money. On my disney visa, I think we have just under 200.oo in rewards which I will trade in for spending also.
The disney portion of the trip is approx. 38000.00 we are budgeting the rental car for all 11 days at about 700.00 (*it's alot I know, but for us is neccessary), and we haven't booked a hotel for the three first days yet. I figue probably 300-350.00 for that.
We have paid 2200.00 initial when we booked disney. so we are looking at about 1600.00 (disney), 700 (car), 350.00 (hotel), 200 (christmas party). for a total needed of 2850.00.
I am an LVT at an animal hospital and I petsit/some home care as extra income. With the petsitting, it's hard to say what I'll make, sometimes I am busy and pothers not so much. I will report with totals as I go!

(Potential of $500 a puppy, and hoping for a 10 pack :confused3) We are not relying on puppy income!
I know this is a big trip, but it's our last family trip with the older two until they can pay for themselves and we think we can pull it off. Just can't be eating out all the time and not so much shopping and tone down xmas!
