The Disney Elitist Attitude

The last few days have really got me thinking of this thread. I am on other theme park boards. I never see people posting ways to get around rules that parks are planning on putting in place like I do here. Just cause you go to Disney doesn't make you better then anyone else. Rules are put in place for our health and safety especially during this pandemic. Til it's gone we have to get used to social distancing.

People are throwing tantrums about rules for wearing masks while shopping for groceries on stores everywhere lately, so Disney is by no means an outlier on that front.

What posts have said anything about breaking rules?
There has been many talking about walking around eating to avoid wearing masks. Another said they were going to drive down to another state and fly from there to avoid the quarantine upon arrival in Florida.

You mean elsewhere, I guess. I haven't seen any in this thread. Cool.

Bumping this thread cause today I have seen the Disney Elitist Attitude out in full force. With Universal announcing their opening date so many Disney fans look down on them with making fun of their attractions. Going on about Disney is still better and are doing nothing wrong. :(

I don't see a downside to letting Universal go first in case it blows up in their face. No reason for Disney to take the risk. They have a much bigger target on their back than Universal does.
Agreed that UO's best rides are wildly overrated. I personally prefer the UO of the older days, Jaws, King Kong, etc, over the many screen based rides it has now.
No one is ticked off about Universal because Universal is a locals park. I've taken a day to go to Universal during our last two trips. Both times, we were able to do everything we wanted to in both parks in less than a day. At the same time, Disney was fairly busy. Universal doesn't draw nearly the same amount of people as Disney does because it's not as good. If not for Harry Potter, we wouldn't bother going there at all.
It is worth going a day to see the HP stuff, but that's the only thing in either park that I feel is on the level of the Disney parks. The rest of it is like a nicer regional park.
I was frustrated that I waited almost an hour to go on that garbage ride. Their innovation was to drive you through a tunnel of screens. Great job Universal! /s
No one is going to care if Universal turns in to a COVID epicenter. People would have their pitchforks out if Disney did. That's the fact of the matter and why Disney is being more cautious than Universal. Disney is also a much larger operation than Universal.
No it wont. Now Disney will get blasted for keeping people out of work while Universal is bringing employees back. Disney will never look good to the masses
That enough for you or do you need more. We can all like different parks but there is no need to take jabs cause it's not the Rat

Personally, I agree Universal has too many "screen based rides". Also, I don't see jabs. As you say, people can like different parks. If you take those you quoted as insulting to Universal, I'd say you're too invested in Universal.

And it's funny that you get upset with people criticizing Universal, but it's ok for you to call Mickey a "Rat".

Someone mentions that Disney markets things in certain ways that plant the seeds of exclusivity and certainly lead to a sense of entitlement. But that is the basis for the Disney to collect much higher prices for what they offer. Now don't anyone get their feathers up because we go three times a year, pay the prices and have indulged many times in the drinking of the Koolaide, but come on we pay premium prices for a room at even Pop Century when I can get the same if not better room in chain hotels and heck they even come with a free breakfast. But Pop has the themeing so it's worth it! You pay double and triple the price for food and drinks that I can get in my own hometown. No offense but the food and beer selection at the Biergarten that is a mile from my house blows the Epcot version clean out of the water. And mine was voted best Biergarten food in the country for like two years running.

So basically what I am saying is I love Disney and as a result I pay the price, and live with the rules, but believe me it does not make me feel elite. Five minutes talking to a non Disney person and explaining what it cost and the planning involved and the things you need to know and the crowds you have to face and they think you are anything but elite. Crazy maybe, borderline psycho maybe, but elite? No fricking way.

I LOVE Pop Century! Yes, it would be wonderful to experience other resorts, moderate and deluxe, but to me it's perfect fit, and I LOVE the money I save and then spend while there! LOL! Our last 2 trips have been in January 2018 and 2019, and just walking up to get my first coffee of the day in only fleece bottoms and a hoodie is MAGICAL, because coming from Maine with lots of snow by then, it makes me smile no matter how tired I feel, how late I was up, or how sore my feet might be, lol. It's the feeling I get!

There is a reason they say Universal has the better hotels

I wouldn't say better, but we did stay at Endless Summer Surf Side last fall, and it was beautiful. I too have said at some beautiful resorts/hotels in my travels, but the "value" of my Disney Home, Pop Century, is equal. Value is monetary, but also the love I get out of staying there. :)

The Disney difference. They always make it right. Even after my son exploded chunks all over the elevator lobby and stairs on the Disney Wonder the staff was kind, caring, and in no way made me feel uncomfortable. They even had the nurse call us later to make sure my son was ok.

Exactly, The Disney Difference. Perfectly said! 😍

I don't understand why it bothers anyone if others criticize or simply don't like the same theme parks/amusement parks, vacation destinations, restaurants, etc. as they do? It's not like someone else's opinion prevents anyone from going where they choose and enjoying it. Someone else's validation of my choices doesn't affect my enjoyment level.

Everyone can have their own opinions on things and not like the same things. I'm fine with that. The difference is when you those that constantly take jabs at other parks thats not Disney. Since Universal announced they're opening date I have seen many take jabs at them. I keep hearing from Disney fans that it's overrated, its a locals park. Its fine that you don't like it but you don't need to constantly tell everyone that. I would have thought more would be happy that one of the big Orlando parks is opening.

Why would anyone care, or take it personally? That makes absolutely no sense. I don't understand the emotional investment in what other people think about stuff like this?
Live and let live and get on with it. Getting upset about this reminds me of little girls squabbling about green being a super dumb color to like because only purple is awesome-ist.

There was a study done about traffic in which people who drove an expensive car were less likely to slow down for a pedestrian in a crosswalk. The Ford Focus would slow down and the Mercedes was more likely to force the pedestrian back onto the sidewalk.

Entitlement. If you pay that much for a vacation.....

In my experience, Cast Members have always been willing going out of their way for an upset child. I have several such stories and my limited experience at Universal (which I like) was never the same. YMMV.
