The DisFort's Chit Chat Cafe

If you followed the quick Disney trip report, i mentioned a knee thing. Well survived the trip. Monday was my usual lifting day and outside of two exercises left knee was ok. Later that day at work though the knee was acting up. I had bert work on it a little bit on monday. Massaging my calf and i slept. It seemed ok on Tuesday so i made a bad decision and decided to run on it. Was fine for the run. i was a little slow but it was also extremely humid so i was fine. Well as Tuesday went on knee felt worse. Bert looked at it again and went wow. It was a bit more swollen on Tuesday night from Monday. Wed was lifting day again. This time i felt my knee during many more exercises. Last night i could not take Whisky for a walk :(. Today i made a good decision and went on the recumbent bike. I was able to take Whisky for a walk this morning.

I am trying desperately to see my PT before vacation on May 31, but her next available appointment is June 3. My plan is to not run until after the trip. hoping with a week of biking, and i might try and swim on Saturday. I will be able to at least walk normal at yellowstone.

@garneska I think you have a good plan. Hope you can find releaf and recover!

Melissa has an old friend comming into town tonight, so plan to hang out with her. Rest of the weekend is not planned out, but wil work on getting the RV and truck ready for our trip next weekend. Otherwise, hoping for a quiet enjoyable long weekend.

We are in Jackson, WY so I have signal. Had a great trip. Will post an actual recap from something other than my phone. Seen a lot.

We got our second and final shingles vaccine about 2 hours ago. I am lucky to have tomorrow off from work. Bert has to work. Hopefully tomorrow is not terrible.

I am fairing well today. My office has a holiday so I could sleep in, but I was up by 7. My arm does hurt but that’s it. Bert on the other hand, well he is supposed to be working today but it’s 11:37 am and he is still asleep.

Unfortunately my memory is not good, how am I supposed to remember a specific date from 36 years ago? Yesterday DW reminded me we been married a while, man i love her, she's also my best friend!

I had no issues, but Tammy also had to sleep in, said she was really tired

THAT one is literally the ONLY one you HAVE to remember, @team bradfield. Shame on you!

Kid's birthdays, doctor's appointments, paying property taxes, missing those is NOTHING compared (at least in my house) missing the ol' wedding anniversary. But hey, later this fall will be our 38th. I hope we make 38 more after that.

Ed

PS - I STILL remember watching the Alabama-Vanderbilt game in the basement of the church before we started our wedding. Obviously, if you a college football fan, you DON'T schedule a wedding when your team has a home game weekend. Bama was playing Vandy in Nashville on our Saturday.

What do you campers think of this new announcement of a POTC Lounge coming to MK?

https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/pirates-of-the-caribbean-tavern-walt-disney-worlds-magic-kingdom/

I have to say that I think this is okay.

Our family lives in a college town with lots of bars, nightclubs, and food vendors near a major college football stadium. Some establishments attempt to provide good food and also serve booze. But others are just a garage-door-rollup to serve beer to patrons on the sidewalk (buy our over-priced Miller Lite, go away, don't clog up our bathrooms ... :sad2:).

The STRONGLY hinted theming for this MK Lounge implies more than a walk-by beer fountain. And I've read that you will be able to get an ADR (so to speak) but it only lasts for 45 minutes (come on it, take a seat, buy an expensive drink, enjoy the atmosphere, please leave). Then wash-rinse-repeat.

It won't be like Epcot where you can have some pretty boozy crowds at the walk up/walk away booze counters. (so we've been told)

I hope they will have specialty drinks/souvenir glasses to take home and add to my collection. Like Trader Sam's.

Really I wonder WHERE this Lounge (its entrance) will be in Adventureland. The more themed, the more immersive it is, the more successful it will be.

Bama Ed

PS - I've ridden Space Mountain a million times since 1980 - why ride it again? (unless I'm with someone who it's their first time to observe their reaction?). I'd rather spend some time (45 minutes and counting down) at a Pirates Lounge.

PPS - Trader Sams is like this but it's a little small. The POTC Lounge described above has multiple rooms (ala BOG restaurant in the MK) which would improve availability.

PPPS - I'm as nerdy and normal as anyone you will find and I don't want drunks around my kids in the theme parks (nor can I afford to be one) but this is about creating an experience, delivering a product, and making a profit. Hopefully in a family way. Whoever opposes the alcohol angle can open an orange juice lounge and try that approach :confused3.

Sounds interesting… 45 minute limit (and I imagine not SUPER strong as far as alcohol in the “adult drinks”) will keep it from being the drunken place some would be concerned about in MK.

Sign me up! Sounds like a fun place to try 👍

Anyone ever have their home sewer pipe break off just outside of the foundation and insurance covered it? Going to look at my home insurance right now, but curious if others had experience. Found out when back up caused dirty toilet water overflow in main floor bathroom...which then leaked down to basement through floor, etc... only way to clean the clog (which turned out to be in the main line to the street in the end) was to open the access in the basement...not a clean thing...move a lot of stuff, put a 30 gallon bucket where you approximately think the gush will go when you unscrew the cap and pray... 90 percent hit bucket... I scrubbed the poop and socked up the poop water for the 10 percent that missed and hit the concrete in a nice sized are all yesterday afternoon/evening... along with multiple layer of spraying and air drying bleach solution. Surprisingly it didn't smell this AM...for all the little brown bits I had to clean up...was surprised. Those bleach making tablets the guy gave me were good and strong.

In any case, mist use extreme caution until replacing as about half the available opening from house to street through the broken off, slight sunken pipe (hence clog....also something hung up in the space that shouldn't go down a toilet was the breaker)

Excavator fun next week to dig 10 foot trench to replace the 8 remaining feet of metal pipe that has broken off with PVC to be connected to existing town PVC line and a bit of reworking of the last inside bit of piping before it heads out of house to making it better. In any case 7k… there goes my extra pop up camper for small spots fund… lol.

😩:faint::umbrella: Just noticing can see the poopy brown smudgy areas in the brown water pic..and if you zoom in, the bucket is nice and full before he pumps it back up into the sewer clean out opening.

Pics bit out of order… the drying out cleaned up and bleached pic in middle.

To bring us back to the good side from our "crappy" day yesterday, my son passed his Instrument Check-ride this morning at his school in Melbourne (This is the license that allows you to fly in conditions where you may not see much out the window and, as the name implies, you fly the aircraft by reference to instrumentation). He is starting his drive home and should be here for our camping trip to Robert H. Treman State Park in Ithaca NY (where we are headed to on Monday the 30th to the 6th)!
