It went well. Only negative is we are having a heck of a time with his blood pressure. He is taking 3 times the medicine than he was before. Yet it still fluctuates greatly. Ideas greatly appreciated.
Sometimes post anesthesia hypertension can be temp issue. Usually will settle down after 24 to 48 hours. Pain is factor too. Hard to give safe advice without seeing him. I'll PM you.

Spring is in full swing here here in Haymarket. Yesterday I had to start the mowing season. Lil Bug went into the back yard and started to look like she was on a jungle patrol. Even our 60 bags of mulch got delivered (decided to buy though a HS fundraiser this year instead of our nomal bulk 7 yard delivery.).

This morning I went to take the younger pups to daycare since we will not be home for much of the day and found the trees blessed us with a fresh coat of pollen. Every vehicle including the RV and the driveway is a shade of green/yellow pollen. My allergy meds are screaming like Scotty on Star Trek "I'm giving it all she's got cap'n!!" For those allergy sufferers like me....godspeed and keep some tissues on hand.

Goodness, we don’t even have any buds on the trees here yet!
Snowdrops & crocuses are just about done, and I can see the buds on my hyacinths tho! And the daffodil leaves are evident (but not the flower stems).

Morning all! Today was the 60 day mark for our June vacation!!! We decided generally where we wanted to be each day and then got to work planning our reservations.

We managed to book a lot of places I had not been in a long time or never been too, and the girls have never been to any of these locaitons. On the list for this trip is:

Storybook Dinning at Artist Point*
Le Cellier*
Round Up Rodeo BBQ
'Ohana*
San Angel Inn*
Toledo - Tapas, Steak and Seafood
The Diamond Horse Shoe

The starred ones I have been to, the rest are new to me. Either because could not get a reservation after trying in the past, or just newer places.

We also opted to do the AK Safari Trek this year. We have read about it in the past and thought it would be fun for our AK day.

Now I know we changed from a FW trip to WL using our DVC points, but I will share our journey as an unoffical report with my DIS favorites here.....and maybe a recap in the WL section.

You'll have to sneak over and get pics of the abomination... I mean R**********, from the WL side. From the pics Alan posted this week, it looks like they have made quite a bit of "progress" since November.

I will get pictures when we do travel over to FW for some kicking it time.

My in-laws are at Bolder Ridge right now as we gifted them a stay for their anniverasry. They said they do not hear any construction noise from the work (at least when they been in their room.)

I was browsing the boards when I saw your post. I haven’t read farther back, so I might be off the mark here.

I have essential hypertension which, without meds, goes over 220/110 with higher spikes to 240/150 when first diagnosed. I was stable on 40 Lisinapril and 50 chlorthalidone for nearly 3 decades (ETA: well, more like 26 years) until last Jan. Without the gory details, I’ll just say I was sicker than I’ve ever been in my life, diagnosed with Type A flu, and stayed in hospital for 4 days because my sodium levels tanked and my BP spiked.

The upshot was, they took me off the chlorthalidone because they said it was a factor in my sodium levels tanking. I’ve since tried norvasc..didn’t work. Now, they have me on spironolactone, and I’m getting major side effects.

There’s a reason I’m mentioning this: one of the things I did wrong were taking ibuprofen like a mad thing. Ibuprofen is a no-no on most BP meds that I know of. There are a lot of BP meds out there, and many will caution one to not take over-the-counter meds without checking things out first. I, in my hubris, didn’t take this seriously, and it nearly ended me.

In my own individual case, the BP meds I’ve tried since diagnosis in 1999 have been many; it’s not uncommon to have to fish around to find the right combination. It can take some times, as some meds don’t really stabilize for a while (my spironolactone took about 1 1/2 weeks to do so)

If his BP went up due to the stress of the surgery I would guess (not being in the medical field) that it eventually would go down as the person heals. Taking BP meds, for many, isn’t a life-long thing (unless like me one gets the lucky genetic bingo card.

Also, if his BP fluctuates a lot during the day it might help to split the dose. For example, I took my 50 mgs of spiro at 8 a.m., but by 8/9 p.m., it was already spiking high. The solution was to take 25 morning, 25 night. That worked pretty good.

Just some thoughts 🙂

I wanted to jump in here as a medical professional. Barb is correct that NSAIDS (ibuprofen, naproxen, celebrex, etc) may decrease the effectiveness of some B/P meds, especially ACE inhibitors, ARB and beta blockers. Some of this is due to the fluid retention NSAIDS can cause, but also due to the way the BP drugs work with your kidney and may exacerbate kidney issues. Not everyone will have problems. I have had high blood pressure since I was 20, so for 43 years. I have been on every class of BP meds there are. I'm on a combination of 2 now to give me a "normal" BP. I also take a fair amount of NSAIDS, from ibuprofen, meloxicam to Celebrex. (It sucks to be active and get old). I have not had any BP or kidney problems, but that is just me.

Everyone is different. If you have concerns, discuss it with your doctor.

(stepping off my medical soapbox for now)

Hope all are well and healing up for the spring camping season. My camping kicked off to a quick start with many race weekends up at the track. Now while on a 7 week break for any local events (I dont travel to VIR anymore, they sadly treat workers/volunteers as 2nd rate spectators these days).

So it's been back to house projects and chores. The first project on the list started over a month ago when it seemed my water softener went on strike. Maybe not a complete stike, more like quiet quitting on me. I started to notice we needed more soap, and saw less suds. It was after forcing a regeneration and checking to make sure I didn't have a salt bridge, I had to recall the last time I bought salt. And that was the week before I left for Disney!!! Now our salt usage was about 10 lbs a week, and I was checking it this whole time and till we had issues it did not occur to me that we had an issue.

After some more diagnosis and looking at the age of our little whirlpool 36k grain softener it was determed the resin was at the end of its life. So it was on to finding a new softerner, and while I was at it I was interested in a better sediment filter system for the well. The old standard 2.5x10' filter worked, but lasted 45 to 60 days, and then usualy had a decent amount of heavy sediment in the bottom of the filter. Plus I really hated that the filter was not well supported outside the 3/4 copper pipes holding it up.

1746032521270.jpeg1746032579769.jpeg

So I started my research on a new replacement. I had one local company come in and quote me 4k to replace the current softener and filter. When I asked about how they would support the filter, he said he could add a 2/6 from the ceiling to add some support. I wasn't too hot on that idea or the price, which lead me to looking at going DIY. After looking at some systems I finally settled Matrixx system from US Water Systems in Indiana. Their rep helped me size the system based on a recent water test, and plan out a good filter upgrade including a 30 micron spin down filter I can flush monthly and a 4.5x20" 5 micron sediment filter which should last me 9-12 months between changes. All in price of 1989 shipped....I deicided to go this route.

With the parts ordered and on their way I deicded to upgrade all the pipping from the pressure tank through the softener from the exisiting 3/4 copper to 1" PEX as its easier to deal with (for me), and then tie back into the house 3/4 when done. So I planned it all out and all my connetions, and 250 dollars in plumbing parts (still cheaper then copper equivilent) and lumber and I was ready to upgrade.

As a backup we filled the RV with 60 gallons of water while the well was down for this. In the end we only needed a little of it, but it was nice to have. I then got to work on removing the old building a new wall for the filters to mount on, and then start the repumbing work.

It only took 3 extra trips for parts I forgot to get, or for under estimating how many crimp rings I needed. Yet after an long day of that and time lost to trips to get more parts, it was finally installed and leak tested.

1746033230343.jpeg1746033266116.jpeg

I was pleased the only leaks I ran into where a few fittings that just needed an extra quarter turn around the pressure gauges and the spin down filter. I did take the time while the well was down and depressurized to check and adjust the pressure tank air pressure. So far the system has been performing great. Water flow and pressures are greatly improved over the old setup!!!

Next up is the fun weekend of weeding and mulching. One of these days I will just start paying someone else to do that work......

PS: I added pressure gauges after each filter to monintor drop and know when it was time to flush the spin down filter, or replace the main sediment filter.

Spent this past week in Ohio. Unexpected trip as FIL had to have a heart cath done. Small amount of blockage but not bad enough to do anything about it. Weather has been fairly god for NE Ohio and dang the yards look awesome. Lots of lush green grass. Whisky has been having fun rolling and digging in it. There have been a few storms, so she takes to hiding in the basement.

Driving home tomorrow and will see Mom on Sunday. Drive is not going to be fun i think it will rain most of the trip. On the way here at the last gas stop, Bert went to pick up Whisky and put her in the car, she said nope and tried to run. I was feeling it as well.

Safe travels to you, Bert, and Wiskey @garneska!! We have some traveling to do on Sunday, but you got us beat by several hundred miles!

Jessica has her States Meet session on Sunday. It's her dad's weekend, however, looks like we are still going to make the 2.5 hour trip down to Chesapeak to see her compete. I am glad to go support her, and find a good place for dinner on the way home!

Happy Mother’s Day!!!

Today was a yes day for Melissa.

A 3.9 mile trail walk with the dogs? Yes.
Do the weeks shopping? Yes love.
Take care of lunch? You got it
Make you a killer dinner? I’m on it

Turned out really good.

IMG_9269.jpeg

Not a drop of it’s leftover….sooo good.

One last trip out of our AP. It’s a quick one and trying to blitz the parks. Had a good safari today.

IMG_3588.jpeg

we then did Navi River and Everest. Slept terrible last night at the Hampton inn at Lake Park, so opted to come back to the room (yacht club) it was ready early. Next dinner at Toledo to get my 40% off food then I have rides at Epcot. We booked LLMP for AK since we did not expect to be in till late morning. I was able to then snag 3 rides at Epcot after dinner, assumes we can stay awake.

:hourglass Tik tok, Kris. I am several years ahead of you and the idea of being active in a park after dark means one of two things to me: a late morning/lunch entry to that park or an afternoon nap somehow/somewhere/someway. :cloud9:

I hope you and anyone else makes it with park plans. Squeeze as much fun and activities into the time that you have (awake). Since you and DH are younger, I will live vicariously through your stories/updates.

Bama Ed

PS - we will be at the Fort/WDW about a year from now.

We crushed it today. Went to Toledo for dinner then headed to Epcot. Got on Spaceship earth, mission space and Soarin. Headed back around looking for dessert but did not see anything we wanted and hung out at the international gateway for Luminous.

Plan tomorrow is rope drop Epcot for Guardians then hang out till lunch. After lunch it will be nap time. @bama_ed only way we can play. Then park hopping to MK.

Another two park day. We made rope drop at Epcot. Went on Guardians and got Blondie. I still have two more songs to get. It was just past 9 when we got off so tried to do a few other things before the masses made it.

IMG_3604.jpeg

Next was Remy and then we got a crepe for breakfast. I almost had a disaster on my hands. While we were resting I had my good knee bent. We went to get up and go to the next thing and I could not straighten my knee nor put any weight on it. This is my “good” knee. I found a bench and stretched my leg. Getting it almost flat. The knee loosened and I was able to carry on. The little bit of walking from France to Morocco was not good. No idea what happened or really what I did to fix it but fixed it.

Next we went in Frizen. It was down earlier and we caught it just as it reopened. Then the movie in Canada. This was all before lunch. Had lunch at the sushi place in Japan Shiki Sha or something like that. Then we left.

IMG_3608.jpeg

We rode the train around and then did the Liberty Bell one last time.

IMG_3613.jpeg

Next we bid farewell to Tom Sawyer island.

IMG_3614.jpeg

Bert shooting things, with full on gun sounds.

IMG_3616.jpeg

It is miserably hot. Back at Yacht club for a shower before dinner. Tonight is Il Molino at the Swan. Might head back to Epcot but not sure we can hang for Luminous tonight. Need to rope drop Epcot again for Guardians. Then we have LLMP at DHS.

Enjoying reading what others are doing at Disney now. We thoroughly enjoyed our week there (4/30 - 5/8) and have been 'resting' since we've been back. So lucky with the heat and weather in general - was very pleasant (can I say that for FL in May??) Was actually very cool (to us) several mornings. The humidity was great too as they were really wanting rain badly - thankfully for us, except for one shower, the rains held off until we had left.

We mostly did rope drop mornings, and believe it or not, the crowds were relatively light to moderate. We did everything we wanted to do (some more than twice) without their LLSP or LLMP overrated money grab (in our opinions anyway with their restrictions). Really enjoyed Tiana's Bayou Experience even though I was prepared to 'hate' it because I loved Splash Mtn. so much lol. Robert did the two rides in Star Wars land and really enjoyed them. I waited it out in a cooler place - that is a hot land IMO. The most we waited for rides was 35 min. with most shorter times.
Our last two days there were verging on hot, but still not too bad. I wouldn't want to be there this week though - hot!

Ed, we had your spot in 100 loop - #127 (last on loop near road) - think that's where we met you. Loop was very quiet.

Oh, my, will have to give our opinion on the monstrosity next door - could they have gotten any closer? That thing is so strung out - takes most of the shoreline and sight line.
Could not hear the noise from the campsite - glad for that. Could hear hammering, but not bad, at the building site of two handicapped cabins being finished across from the original bus stop with sidewalks closed. Not happy with their intrusive look either.

Well, I'll stop grumping - we really did have a completely wonderful trip. Ed, you will be glad to know that these two energizer bunnies wore out by 5 o'clock lol. We did stay for Luminous one night, and sorry, but were not impressed - probably just us, but our 2 cents!

That's true, Joy, except me and Dad were in #127 on the end you and you and Robert were around the corner in one of the low number sites (101 or 103 on the right side as I recall). We were following my two sons' high school marching band going down Main Street. Dad was ALWAYS ready to hit the road (have bag, will travel). DW wanted someone to ride shotgun with me because she thought I might have too much fun by myself! :rotfl2:DW stayed home with young DD.

I liked 127 but more so 125 to the right of it because it is longer, deeper into the outer corner of the loop, and the back of it has a view of the golf cart and walking paths from the main road down to the Settlement area. Dad and I had 125 for a Halloween stay years ago and it had YUGE amount of room.

Ed, you will be glad to know that these two energizer bunnies wore out by 5 o'clock lol.

You folks are still WAY ahead of me on the DAILY PLAN to hit parks and do things. I need an afternoon nap these days and I'M HERE AT HOME in retirement. :woohoo:

But I appreciate the update and you give me and DW something to aspire to in our coming years. And I thank you for being the first people to be open to me/us newbies reaching out and saying hello to other DIS members (it wasn't always that way) when we could find each other at the Fort at the same time. Hard to believe but it wasn't always as easy as it is now.

Best wishes to you, Joy, and Robert.

Ed and DW (by proxy). she reads/edits behind me.

PS - the eyesore behind Pioneer Hall - we will deal with it. Not your problem.

PPS - we will be at the Fort about a year from now when you were.

Well we skipped luminous last night. Hung out on the balcony after dinner. I got bit 5 times on my legs. Big, puffy, itchy red welts. However we were able to get up and rope drop.

IMG_3621.jpeg

Only rode once. We got off at 9:01 and then did the line was then 99 minutes. We got Conga so still missing 2 songs. Since the line was too long to wait again, we hit Soarin and then living with the land. Next a quick stop at the hotel for a snack and off we went.

IMG_3623.jpeg

We bought LLMP. First up tower of terror. I sat next to a very cute 3 year old girl. It was her first time. She originally got scared but then loved it. Next we had time to kill, so it was really our last time for muppets.

IMG_3625.jpeg

Then we went to Toy Story Mania. It was actually down and up all day so our pass took some time but it was worth it. I beat Bert by a lot. I even got to cat level. I had something like 151,000 which I think is my highest score. Then to Rock n Roller Coaster. Next was Smugglers run. Finally Star tours, which apparently we have not been on since it was last updated so glad I was able grab that.

We have dinner at Topolino’s so we will skyride over. If we can make it will hit Epcot again to see luminous but probably won’t happen.

We have breakfast at Boma tomorrow at 8 and then back home.

The plan was to do as much park time as we could. Mission accomplished!
