The DisFort's Chit Chat Cafe

Since we chose not to buy a new rig, time to invest into the current one. While waterfall faucets are pretty, they are horrible in an RV. Between spitting on you when air gets into the system when connecting, or dewinterizing, plus having an issue with one of them. It was time.

So out with the old faucet and the connections.

And time for some upgrades....first shutoff valves....always nice to have

And the final product...

I have 2 more faucets to replace, however, after pulling the drawers out and looking at how they set it up. I do not like where the valves would end up. So I need to run to the store and pick up some extra pex so I can rebuild from the T out to put valves in the cabinet area rather then behind a couple drawers. Update to come soon.

Faucet replacement part 2. The master bath. It was time to remove these pretty yet annoying faucets.

And this one was going to take a little more work and meant another run to the local orange store to get to some pex pipe. The current connections where impossible to get to and for the choice of adding shut off vavles instead of adaptors for the 3/8 compression fitting meant making a few small mods.

Now I did measure twice, and cut once.....problem is I somehow managed to cut the hot pipe on the cold pipe measurement. As annoyting as it was I decided to keep it rather then wasting some pipe. I got the shut off vavles installed and replaced the T with brass fittings.

And now we have some nice new Moen facets that don't spit on you when there is air in the line.

Next up is seeing if I can figure out a good setup for my monitor for working at the kitchen table. I have usually just put it on the table, but looking at a bigger arm that might let me move it around and stow it for eating and travel days.

Couple of follow ups. First few tows since replacing the blown out boost pipe. I actually think it had partially failed prior to blowing out. Climing any decent grade the truck felt like it had to work, something I figured was the case puling close to 16klbs up a grade. Turns out boost was leaking as I could hear a whooshing sound I thought was just the turbo all spooled up. However, same climb labor day, and then the grade on I66 and I had no problem maintaining decent speeds up these grades. The truck still held the same boost but felt like it had more power and that whoosing noise was gone. So glad I finally replaced that pipe and wish I did so sooner.

As for the new faucets....why did I wait 4 years to get rid of those waterfall faucets?!?!?!? They where perfect and performed flawlessly, even when air was in the line after hooking up to city water.

Next few weeks is just simple maintinence and a good bath for truck and trailer to get it ready for the tow south.

Ed….

Yankees / Cleveland game 3 finish … just wow….

(Yankees here in this house, btw)

Howsers got to understand that big market teams like the Yanks can't win ALL the time, Jimmy.

Somewhere Chief Wahoo is smiling tonight.

The series, though, still has a ways to go. Yankees lead 2-1 games best out of 7. I will be in Tribe uniform (white home jersey) in Alabama for tomorrow night's home game.

PS - I went to the Alabama college baseball scrimmage today (sunny fall day in the 70s-rode my bike to the stadium) and sat with my baseball buddy who is an ex-pat from Connecticut and grew up a Bosox fan so we share a hate for the Yankees.

PPS - and honestly the coolest thing was, @4077, that DW and I went to Arizona for Spring Training this past February and Cleveland had like 90 players in camp so we didn't see a lot of MLB starters that week of games - we saw a lot of guys who would be sent to the minor leagues when the season started (which was fine). But Noel (who hit the HR in the 9th inning tonight) was one of those players we saw often in Arizona and he either struck out or got on base (not many outs) but was sent to Cleveland's Triple AAA team in Columbus, OH to start the season. But he got called up to the Bigs late this summer and now is a hero in Northeast Ohio tonight. THAT'S what I love about going to spring training. Not necessarily to see today's stars - but tomorrow's. 💫

Good luck with your “root root root for the ‘home’ team….”

I should clarify one little thing… Yankees at this house I primarily my wife (and so over the years I kinda fell into that)….

My son (all by his very self as he played baseball growing up) became the big Dodgers fan he is today, so we are hoping for the NYY/LAD matchup…

Re: Red Sox… my grandmother lived in Woonsocket, RI… she was a HUGE Red Sox fan her whole life… I spent many nights at her house during baseball season and listened to her pained groans while she listened to games on radio at night when we were both in bed. (I may have mentioned this next part in some past baseball post) She had a colleague with season tix to Fenway so I got my share of games with her 6th row up behind third base dugout. Her favorite memory to recall to me was meeting and getting a kiss from Carl Yastrzemski (and my grandma was Polish… Tomczyszyn), so she loved that too!

Well as it turned out, Cleveland lost the ALCS to New York (the Yankees, that is). But it was a good year for my team and their 1st year manager after a disappointing season last year. So I can't complain.

Now we get to watch two scrappy underdogs go at it in the World Series, Yanks and Dodgers. I saw LAD play Cleveland in Arizona during Spring Training and Ohtani was as advertised. So I guess I'll pull for LA.

Ed,

I remember talking at the beginning of the season about our team's poor chances of doing well this year. You referred to the 'dians as the "mistake by the lake".

At the time I thought you were under estimating them.

Congrats on a great season. Making it to the ALCS with a 1st year manager and the core they started with is a feat. You should be proud.

The Cards managed to squeeze out a 2nd place (tie) in the NL Central, but still 10 games behind 1st place. Better than last year and better than expected, but no where near what StL is expected to do and what this team was capable of. We fixed our relief pitching problem from 2023, but then our bats were silent most of the year.

Looks like we are going into "cost cutting" mode until the Diamond Sports TV debacle is sorted. That could be a couple more seasons.

We picked up the RV from the shop. After some discussion we decided to bring it to storage so we could start emptying it. We have a place in South Carolina to try and sell it. Today we completely emptied the inside. Managed to pack it in one car load back to the condo. Took three trips with two carts to get in all up. We then went through it.trash, goodwill, keep, and not sure. Picked up whisky from daycare and got pizza and wine for dinner. Completely exhausted. Hopefully able to clean out the bays on Sunday. My condo is a disaster.

Who wants an EZ up? @tigger92662 we will keep the flamingo for you.

Wait, what? I'm confused....

Did I miss a memo?

Selling the RV?

What's the future plan - I don't think you can downsize to an Aliner (great advice that would be though) because of taking Whiskey along the way you do.

Given the frequency of your FW visits for the various runDisney events, I'm wondering what your future plan is. New RV? You have a site booked at Gulf SP for the May 2025 DISMeet so there must be a plan. Can't imagine the two of you without recreational wheels.

Bama Ed

PS - i know ol' man Bert just turned 50 before our DISMeet ( I remember turning 50 like it was ..... 10 years ago ..... :teeth:) but ya'll are still young in my book.

PPS - oh wait! You're buying a DVC Cabin at FW?

Yes Ed, we are going to sell. The motor home sits too much and no retiring for at least 5 years. We are considering an airstream so that if it sits it is not quite so problematic. The airstream might be a few years away.

Ya know, Kris, I was just looking at the rental trailers of one of the preferred vendors at WDW, Kissimmee Orlando RV Rentals, and they have an Airstream in their rental fleet. I'm considering trying it rent it on a future Fort visit for my post-Aliner chapter of life.

Not that I would buy an Airstream post A-liner but I might jump into the rental trailer option as others do instead of buying a DVC cabin (even if their resale market develops). The Airstream rental choice would be "cool, neat" one-time thing and then go with smaller rental trailers if it were to be just me and DW on future FW trips.

Maybe you could rent the Airstream from KORV as a "try before you buy" option some day soon.

ED

PS - I've found this group to possibly handle my stays at Gulf State Park. Don't know a thing about them. https://www.gulfshoresrvrentals.com/

Not exactly sure your vet would approve of feeding Miss Whiskey Pizza and Wine for dinner.
