We can thank my trip to the rally and maybe some
Amazon shopping after a few good adult beverages. However, I happened upon a 7" camera system that is compatible with the Furion pre installed mount/wiring for a price I could not pass up. The Furrion rear camera only with a 7" screen runs around 599, at that price I will nope out every day. I have seldomly needed a rear view other then parking in the past. Well when I stumbled accorss the
AMTIFO A7 Camera that included an adaptor plate and pigtail for the existing furrion for only 122 dollars after tax I decided it was worth the chance.
The screen is as advertised and the kit pieces seemed to be of good quality too. The adaptor plate I dry fitted and was a good match to the furrion blank. the pigtail was worked and polarity was correct for the camera.

Getting this stupid grommet in was a test of my patiencdes and adult word vocabulary.

With everything assembled I got it installed on the RV. I always tape these style connections so they don't come apart over time with vibration. The extra wire and pigtail fits just barely, but it fits.

It looks pretty good, not as factory a look as the Furrion, but then not the price either. I was concerned with the not blocking off the factory hole much. I though about trying to bend the plate back. However, I decided to silocon it instead to keep the weather out.

There have been a few comments about longevity, however, there are many complaints about the Furrion going blank screen after a year as well. The picture is pretty good and the only issue I had was some cutting out after the first trip. When I went to adjust the camera I found the antenna was loose, so I put a dab of blue locktite on the threads and tightened it again. That should stop that from happening again.

Only thing left is to decide where to put the screen. I may see if I can set it up so it sits in front of the mirror and then remove it when not towing. We leave this afternoon for a 4 horus trip down to the New Point, VA where friends have a leased/permanent site to help her get more setup at the end of the season. So I will be interested in how it performs at night as well as day. So far its been great for backing into the driveway as I can see what I am doing so I don't need to get out when I don't have my DW doing an amazing job spotting me.
