The DisFort's Chit Chat Cafe

I got my 6 rear tires this morning. $3800 and some change. Bridgestones. They hooked me up on a fleet rate.
Drove over to my local RV shop to get moving on a replacement AC. Bedroom unit is broke. I was informed there are no ACs to be had. So I guess we wait and use the box fan in the hall.
Lastly, a question. How''s fuel availability on the 95 corridor heading north? I have heard that go juice is getting scarce as a result of the pipeline hack.

@Stratman50th when are you leaving? It could be tough on the gas. i do think in another week it will be fine. Need people to not freak out, so of course there is a shortage.

As for the AC, we asked way back in Feb about getting a new AC in front. It is supposed to come in this week. I am hoping it is all installed by the end of the week. Need that and the slide seal fixed before Jun 3 but dang i am getting scared about it.

We are in for new tires as well, but we will do it at the end of the season. Basically after we have the rig out for 2 to 3 months while the condo gets remodeled. I figure leave the old tires on for now and after the trip we can get new ones.

I've been reading the same thing about the A/C units. Especially the Coleman-Mach units.

Can't help on the fuel availability. That has been the big question on the camping groups. No one has said it isn't available, but that may be changing if the pipeline doesn't get back up and running.

@garneska Kris, we leave on the first. With a full 150 gal of diesel I can make about 1300 miles (and maybe sucking fumes). So I could get there but not back. I would rather stick pins in my eyes than be stuck in MD!
@Teamubr Jim, I have a Coleman low profile and heat pump. I don't know the model. Of course it just went out in the last month. This entire wedding thing has me taking gas. Not my favorite thing. Much rather be with you guys in the mountains.

I think the gas shortage should be ok by then. I would be worried about the AC. i know i was but it looks like we should be good on that for June.

The storage facilities on the receiving end of the pipline hold a 60 day supply. So no real reason for people to panic.

hmmm, maybe I'm not thinking this out correctly but....

A 5 gal gas can is going to cost about $20.00. I bought gas Sunday afternoon at $2.67 (I guess it probably higher than that now), making it $13.35 for 5 gal.
This means it's $33.35 for the gas can and the gas, or $6.67 per gallon.

While there are methods of coming out ahead in this, they require a lot of luck and work.

I'd like to be there when they don't need it any more and try to return it! 😂
I guess they could use the gas and then return the gas cans.

Edit: Just went out and passed the station I filled up at on Sunday. It's $2.90 for regular unleaded. $2.40 for E85.

So much like up north when they predict snowmageddon, every time they predict a hurricane in Florida, aside from the normal French toast fixins- bread, milk and eggs, and TP, they also hoard bottled water by the case. Like 20 cases. The joke is these people can survive off of a couple diet cokes a day, but say there's a hurricane coming and they turn into fish! Then after it's all over with they try and return the water.

Don as of TODAY North Carolina is the state in the worst shape for your up coming trip. You might want to consider filling up in SC and Va both coming North and returning South. just to be safe
