what if someday the situation occurs that you may somehow have to talk to someone that speaks only spanish? it's happened to me, and my knowledge of spanish has helped a TON. spanish is the 2nd most spoken language in the U.S.

I agree with you on that. I know a lot of spanish, and it will come in handy in college. But making young kids learn it, and making it that we all have to learn it and be fluent, I think is taking it over the line.

Also another thing, McCain wants to help the poor people here get back up on their feet. Obama wants to baby them. GIve them money from the gov that us tax payers are giving up.

You are wrong why do you think that when you watch the Olympics there are 3 languages used; English, French, and the national language of the country. If you live in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, the islands in the Gulf, and a little in South America you have to know it. Spanish is only taught in America because of all the immigrants coming from hispanic countries which really has no comparison.
