DH's home, gotta go make patties and get DINNER going! :woohoo:

Oh, and the Sara Lee cheesecake feeds 4. Whew! :rotfl:

See ya after I'm fed and happy. I promise to be nicer!!!

would this cause her to go in and out of consciousness as she did when they all came running in the room and booted me out. there are 4 nurses still in there.

Shawna, is your mother having problems?? I know even my blood pressure was doing strange things after my surgery. When my potassium got low then my bp shot up. Normally I have borderline low BP, but they started doing all sorts of things when my bp was doing strange things. I got an EKG, chest xrays, lots of blood drawn for labwork, etc... Personally I think it was just a bad reaction to the lime jello they were serving, but who knows?? I'm sure they are taking good care of her.

here ya go
Syncope

What is syncope?
Syncope (SIN'ko-pe) is temporary loss of consciousness and posture, described as "fainting" or "passing out." It's usually related to temporary insufficient blood flow to the brain.

It most often occurs when the blood pressure is too low (hypotension) and the heart doesn't pump a normal supply of oxygen to the brain.

What causes syncope?

It may be caused by emotional stress, pain, pooling of blood in the legs due to sudden changes in body position, overheating, dehydration, heavy sweating or exhaustion. Syncope may occur during violent coughing spells (especially in men) because of rapid changes in blood pressure. It also may result from several heart, neurologic, psychiatric, metabolic and lung disorders.

And it may be a side effect of some medicines.

I'm guessing she was on monitor?

She might have had a syncope episiode, the heart rate drops and she would feel faint/pass out.

yeah she had a ton of monitors on her and she kept going in and out of consciousness but I really tho ught it was because we were just a few hours outside of surgery and all the meds were making her tired since she was supposed to rest I didnt say anything but the 3rd time the nurses came running in and kicked me out. Boy that was over an hour ago now I think. I'm gonna go back to the stand. They have the rooms blocked off and I had not been given the code to get in but I can see her room through the nurses station and about 4 people are in there right now but no one seems to be running and I havent seen any DR;s. the nurse at the desk just keeps smiling at me syaing she will be alright. I'm sitting about 3 feet from the desk.

That is the scene around me right now. I'm the only one in this room too.

yes they kicked me out of the room because she kept going in and out of consciousness. I thought she was just tired but then about 7 nurses came running in and they hurried me out and put me out here.

here ya go

Thanks that might explain why I heard them say she was having a reaction to the meds. This just seems like its taking too long without telling me any more info.

When she went in for surgery her blood pressure was on the high side but they said that might have to do with her fibromyalgia spike. Not even going to try to spell that right.

 take it easy this weekend Alison. Dizzy is now coming with me. I dont even have to kidnap her so we really want you to come if you can.

I told my boss I have no idea why I'm not feeling well today. Let's see...go back to work 8 days after surgery instead of 2-3 weeks. I've now been working 9 days in a row with no break. I've probably been doing more physical lifting than I should. No I'm not lifting anything over 10 pounds, just lifting files, notebooks, standing at file cabinets, etc... I think it just finally all caught up with me today. So I'm just going to work a partial day tomorrow and then do nothing but lay around and take it easy all weekend. See, I listen to my body....but only after it starts yelling at me!:rotfl:

I know who I'm inviting to my next surgery!:goodvibes

I thought you were done having children?:confused3 :rotfl: Boy what a night, whoopie & cheesecake!

Anytime a patient has something unusual happen .. you will have extra staff crowding in.

You may have a nurse doing the care, another higher up nurse (NP) directing care, and another documenting what's happening.

And it's that time of year for student nurse rotations who will be observing too.

Suck to be alone though...

LAX??? Do you take me for a complete rube??? :snooty:
Yes, we're flying into Santa Ana aka John Wayne aka Orange County aka Criminy Christmas people could there be another airport with more aliases??? Did I mention I'm STARVING???

A litttle rusty but the knowledge is still there. ;)

Eloy has blood pressure issues all the time. Usually wayyyyyyyyyyy too high , but he has postural hypotension too.. ya know when you stand up and feel like oh crap.. I need to sit again. :lmao:

He's almost passed out at dialysis when they have gotten him too "dry" on the run.

Yeah, I think when my BP was going up that one night they had about 6-7 people in my room at any given time. And they all kept asking me the same questions, over & over again. I felt really bad that I yelled at one of the nicest nurses, guess I just got tired of answering the same questions for the 100th time. Her name was Elyena and she was the head RN for my section at nights. I apologized to her the next day and gave her a big hug. She was the one that walked the halls with me at night and was just so nice. She said she was very worried about me because I was a very cheerful patient and that night when I was getting grumpy she knew something was wrong.

So don't worry to much Shawna. They had tons of people in my room from about 11pm - 6am. Luckily it was my 3rd day there and DH was at home. I think he would have been in a panic if he had seen all of the people in my room.

I will say a prayer for her tonight and I know that things will be ok.:grouphug:

AHEM Alison.. you were suppose to read that card I sent and follow what it said!! Take care of YOU!

I'll send Staley to sit on ya. She already ate Melody:sad2:

thank you GOD that I am going home tomorrow...i am SOOOOOOOOo sick of my aunt I could puke...that may be another reason im being so bit**y:mad:

I have borderline low blood pressure. Which is odd because I come from a family with high blood pressure problems. :confused3 I'm starting to think maybe they found me on the doorstep. Let's see they all have high blood pressure and I have low. No family history of cancer and I get stricken with it at 40. Do you suppose there is something they're not telling me??:confused3

Only if they have jigsaw puzzles.

That's what we did as a family when hubby was hospitalized. The boys helped and they stayed out of mischief when visiting. :goodvibes
