just read story of massive pileup on 99 south of Fresno...

You all OK down there?

We're all ok, but it took us over 2 hours to drive 11 miles this morning!
We got diverted off the highway after sitting in traffic for 2 hours; it took us almost 3 hours to get from Kingsburg to Fresno (20 miles). There were over 100 cars involved in the pileup; 2 fatalities, 39 people taken to the hospital.
And it was all caused by one guy! They arrested a 62 year old man for drunk driving, and he was the one who started the whole chain reaction. I bet he's feeling not too good right about now, huh?

Wow! Geez, I think about the times I drove after a few drinks ... what is that saying ? "there but for the grace of God go I?" Those poor families!

We had some bad news down here too: a woman I worked with at school lost her teenage son this week. She is a single mom raising 5 kids - he was the oldest. Heart just stopped during the night (that's all we know for now) - makes you want to grab your kids, hug them and put 'em in a box under the bed!

And now Bets with her washerdryer??? The world is going to h*ll in a handbasket.

I say we all take a cruise.

Ryan says hello to everyone. I just had to pick her up from a sleepover with her friend. Friend developed fever of 102 so she is very sad.

Wow! With that many vehicles involved it sounds like they're lucky there were only 2 fatalities! I hate driving in fog! It gets very foggy up in the mountains between here & WV - I've had some very nasty drives to my parents because of it. Now I always make sure I have fog lights on my vehicles!

Ordered tickets to the Pirate & Princess party on January 21st! The AP rates for January came out - could not beat our DVC rate at VWL unless we went back to OKW. The studios at SSR were all gone by the time I called...it would be a lot cheaper (almost $400) to go back to OKW but we really weren't that impressed with it so I think we'll keep our ressie at VWL. Sucks that I missed all of the studios at SSR - we would've done that. They had a 1 bedroom avail. over there for about $50 more than what we're already paying for a studio - but I really kind of want to try VWL - I hear good things about it...so I guess that's decided now.

WELL, last nite was the big football / chili party. I am feeling a bit rough this morning. In addition to 2 kegs they had this big glass jug thing with about 3 or 4 gallons of Sangria in it...I did my best to help empty it! I know I had 6 (possibly 7) of those big red plastic cups of it. Thank goodness the time changed last nite...I really needed the extra hour! I've also been fighting off a cold all week - so I kinda REALLY don't feel so good today. I need to go get DH up - they're supposed to start cleanup at 9:00. Can I go back to bed?!

I too hate fog. RJ & Beano live in the worst of it unfortunately.

Can someone please explain "daylight savings time" and the "extra hour of sleep" to the baby!? I don't think she understands.

Well, my party last night was kind of lame. I expected all my old coworkers to be there....I only knew 1 other girl besides the guest of honor and she wasn't even really in my department. It was nice to see her, but I was disappointed not to see the ones who I spent 8 hours a day/5 days a week with. DH and I left early and went to have a drink at the retaurant down the street from our house.

Now we are off to pick up the kiddos and get to church for Colt's reading...God help us! Have you ever heard a 7 year old try to say Thessalonians? I'm trying to go with it rhymes with Nickelodeon, but he wasnt getting it. This shold be interesting.

So...the good news is, we went to Home Depot and checked the specs...we CAN keep the new set...

Bad News..our dryer's power cord MELTED and has exposed wires...guess it is a good thing we pulled it out and looked at it for size!!

Now I have to go to the laundry mat for 2 weeks!

Yay for Betsy! I would LOVE a bigger washer......those looked nice! You'll whip right thru now! (Speaking of laundry...anybody want to volunteer to come & put mine away?! It's already folded!!) My "trick" that used to work was to take it upstairs & leave it sitting on the bed...then let DH go upstairs first at nite - he USED to put it away before we went to bed...but not any more...he just moves the piles! I think he's onto me!

5:00 am on which coast - mine or yours?! LOL...I got up at 6:00 to drink a glass of water & take some Excedrin...

Our cats didn't "get" the time change either - they were up crying for breakfast early too! I have vague memories of trying to re-set some clocks last nite when DS & I came in from the party (DH stayed behind to smoke a cigar with the guys). The times were all different & all over the place this morning when I got up! I had to call the time number to figure out what time it was. And I did some clocks but not all - I must've been a mess! Thank goodness the party was just in the neighborhood across the road from ours!

Hope you are feeling better now Annie. I went with casual/dressy grey pants and nice shirt (like the style that almost looks like maternity, sort of flowy on the bottom and ties in back). It was black, grey and blue swirls. I would have been fine in the jeans though. It turned out to be very casual.

The good news is the church is still standing after Colt's reading. I thought for sure we would have all been struck down once he got up on the alter, LOL! Then again, DH went in yesterday and stole a book from the church so if we are all still here after that, I guess we are on the good side.

It didnt really hit me until we were there and the religious education coordinator brought him up there and introduced him to the priest and all. From the beginning of mass until the second reading I was sweating buckets. I really thought I'd pass out. Colton is the type of kid who comes out with some great one liners...not something you want him to have the power to do in front of a church full of people. I was so afraid of what he would come out with. The cute thing was in the homily the priest immediately started about all the young people there today, who would be recieving the first sacraments this year, and he had Colton stand up and he had everyone clap for him. Poor kid looked really embarrassed then.

I wasnt on the couch, but was sure glued to the tv while cooking dinner and working. Holy Cow! I think ERs in the area are going to be busy with heart attacks tonight. WHAT a game! Can I mention 1 team is still undefeated?
