We planned and went on our vacation this past November and decided to do DVC, had we thought it through we would have used the trip money for the downpayment and just used our pts for the vacation. Live and learn. So now we are planning our next trip to coincide with our DVC purchase.

I have looked into the resales and if we absolutely decide on Wilderness Lodge, we will go that route. Rumors are the construction at Contemporary will be DVC units. Not sure if that rumor has been quashed or not, but that also might be tempting. :dance3:

Can't wait to visit again and hopefully be "Welcome'd Home". :cloud9:

I was just on the DVC forum, have you seen this thread about the Kingdom Towers? http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1795702

Great...more options, lol. I hate making decisions. Once "official" word comes out, the family and I will have to talk it over. Not having stayed at CR, I might have to plan a trip out for the wife and I to do some recon. :yay:

You and me both brother, you and me both........:lmao:

had me at no. 1.... and too many others to count!!! we're planning another trip this year during the free dining Aug-Sept.. I can't wait.. we were there last year as well.. I just can't get enough!!! :)

I'm staying in the All-Star Sports resort. Not the Beach Club Villa or anything like that! But I like 'em. I'm sure some of you got to stay at some of those places. My question is, is it worth it? I mean, beautiful rooms, gorgeous view, big price.

Welcome and good question. The non-DVC deluxe accomodations are nice - but expensive. However, DVC resorts seem to ba a very good value.

We became DVC owners so we could stay in nicer locations. However, we've stayed in the Values, Moderates and Deluxes before buying in...so don't feel out of place.

The main points we considered for buying DVC were this:

- We still planned on going to Disney many times in the future (7+ is the minimum if you want to break even - per the marketing pitch).

- We wanted nicer, larger accomodations with more amenities.

- We understood it was a 'luxury' item rather than a financial investment.

- We thought the kids would make use of DVC if/when they become parents with children.

Once we felt comfortable with the decision, we bought in and think it is well worth it. The only downside - we didn't do it sooner.

:thumbsup2

Gents,

I'd be pleased to be welcomed amongst your proud cyber association - count me in as a member of the DIS Dad's Club! With three sons, I hope to be setting a good example of Disney Dad behavior for future generations of DDC members!

The wife and I are planning on DVC. Just trying to reduce our debt and save a bit for down payment and we will be joining. I am hoping they open Wilderness Lodge again, as that is our favorite resort, though Boardwalk is also very nice.

I am hoping in the next year or 2 we will own a piece of the magic. :cool1:

We just did resale at SSR and got a great contract. As Verandah Man said, it is an opportunity to get in for less. We have done mods mostly but we're a family of five and there are not many places for us to stay. And the team is big and tall too so we're being squeezed even more. SSR and the other resorts offer us that necessary extra space.

If/when you are interested, I would encorage you to consider resale. There are a couple threads on the DVC portion of the DISboards that cover loads of issues regarding resale. As well I'll gladly offer any help I can.

Thanks for the info. I will surely take a look at that Forum, as any advice is helpful, since I am a nooblet at DVC. :yay:

Hey guys those of you wondering about the DVC resorts have you looked into renting Points from a member and staying that way.

We have done all the Values, almost all the Mods and now with DVC hitting all of those as well.

We have no problem going back to a Mod for a short weekend trip to save our points but will also look into getting points from another member as well.

It a Risk in that you really have to put some trust into someone you don't know but for the price well worth it .Current rentals from $10 -13 per point you could stay at Studio for under $100 a night during the week ( Sun -Thur)and about 2X that much for the Weekends but the Entire Week still works out very reasonable for what you get.

Check the Rent Trade board here on the DIS.

DD and myself got our 1st sunburns of the Year in DE watching a Paintball Tourny today. Made me feel like summers right around the Corner
