I can't imagine making a trip in the dead of summer and trying to enjoy WDW with long lines and oppressive heat. (Having said that, I'm trying to book our first trip home in August!)

I've made 2 trips there in the dead of summer - not by choice, but by work's choice - but since I had to be there anyway, I got to tag on a couple of solo days each trip... and let me tell you, you chose your wording well.... the heat and humidity is down-right OPPRESIVE. The only thing that I've felt that was worse, is Phoenix in July - 114 at 10 o'clock at night is just WRONG!! So Bob, good luck to you on your first trip home in August... I know you'll still have a great time - hey, it's WDW after all - but just be ready for that nasty heat. There's just really something about thousands of hot, sticky, sweaty CRANKY people waiting in line for an hour for a 2 minute ride that somewhat puts a bit of a damper on your day... thank goodness there are lots of things to do there!!

Since I stole it from WDW feel free to do it yourself.

I have been to WDW during the last days of Jan and the First Days of Feb and had a blast! No lines temps varied between 78 and 55, there was some rain but never lasted long. Being a northerner we found the weather and temperatures to be wonderful. And I repeat no lines!!! It was walk up and get on. The longest wait may have been 15 minutes!!! Rides like TOT and Everest said 45 minutes but it was more like 10 minutes. Fast Pass made it even better.

That's us! I've seen Disney cover plants for fear of frost but it's great when nobody is in the park. Three sweatshirts, tossle caps, gloves, and ride all nite! This year in first week of Feb...80+ everyday! Only had to put up with dance teams and cheerleaders.

I know, I know...it's a thought and it wouldn't be spent in the parks all day! Thinking to do a quick getaway before school. Southwest has $85 one way tix and I do have 350 points to blow. Thinking it would be more of a resort kinda thing, maybe rope drops at the park, dinners, and that's about it. There is no way on this earth I'd spend the day in the park...I'm too used to the crowds in Jan!
We did go to Clearwater last August...the ocean was too hot! :headache: By noon I had no desire to get in the water. I don't mind the heat as long as I don't have to do anything in it except :beach: and :drinking1
And we are looking at a Christmas trip to balance the heat! Maybe New Year's!

I feel like I am treading on sacred ground here being I am female :scared1: However I was wondering if you men do interventions on husbands that are Mouse challenged to say the least.. My hubby would rather pull his teeth out than go visit Mickey... Any ideas on how to convert him to the Disney Dads club?

Lew

The best way to get him "into it" is to plan couples time. We planned a trip for this past November, to celebrate all 3 kids birthday's and our 10 year anniversary (Disneymoon), and I was sure to plan couples time with my wife, as she isn't a Disney Fanatic like me.

There is plenty to do for couples that isn't "in your face Disney" if you catch my drift. And if he still isn't into it, then you can always start subliminal messages and play Disney music when he is sleeping. :lmao:

And thanks to everyone for the Disneyriffic Welcomes!

Yes, yes you do! :worship: 350 - I'm not worthy..... wish it were me! ;) Sounds nice, of course, I'm just not up for the temps - but I LOVE being at WDW

Don't get me wrong...I'm not sure I'm up for it yet :crowded: but I sure am gettin' the WDW itch...

No, I know what you mean...if I could be there NOW I would... if I could be there in August - I would consider it too... but in my case - it would definitely be a solo thing, since DW won't get near FL in summer. I know exactly what you mean, Bob - sometimes I get such an "I need to be there NOW" feeling! :lmao:

We love Disney in the Summer.

it rains and everyone else runs for cover , We see it as no different then going swimming ( dress for it as well).

Now we hit the Parks early adn take a mid-day break at the Waterpark or the Resort swimming pool and then back at the parks until they close.

It was hotter and more humid here in MD today then at WDW so we are use to it I guess.

Can't wait until my July trip and Looks like my Jacksonville trip next month is a go . I know it's not Disney but it gets me that much close and I'm under my 75 days out now.

Oh and don't forget Travel channel is getting ready to start.

One last thing for this post

WHO is waiting for the SpeedRacer Movie to come out.

HAHA! DisneyBrat's post got me thinking... I wonder how many DW's are out there lurking this thread to see what were are thinking? :scratchin :listen: :tiptoe:

Lurking wife here. I actually told DH about this thread and I keep him updated when he doesn't have time to read along. DH is Kitchensinkguy.

We love Disney in the Summer.

Same for us...in fact, it wouldn't be summer without Disney!

Because of school and youth sports, we've taken a summer vacation in WDW for many years - and we love it.

It's warm at rope drop, the water is warm for the post-lunch swim, the afternoon thunderstorm provides time for a refreshing nap, and it's warm for fireworks and a late night ice-cream.

Actually, we've never been bothered by any of the things most people dislike about summer - except maybe those Brazillian tour groups.
:lmao:

I have been wondering where Kitchensinkguy has been? Tell him he is missed and to drop by if possible.:thumbsup2

Hey guys, just wondering how I get the DDC logo for my signature. It's looks cool and I haven't been able to figure it out. Any help is appreciated.... On another note. It's a lil' over four months and counting til our next disney vacation:banana:  Just getting away is great but Disney is that much better!!!:yay: :yay: I look at all these threads and they have the pictures of the more expensive esorts they stayed at and the pictures are beautiful. It'd be nice to stay in some of those lavish rooms/suites. I'm staying in the All-Star Sports resort. Not the Beach Club Villa or anything like that! But I like 'em. I'm sure some of you got to stay at some of those places. My question is, is it worth it? I mean, beautiful rooms, gorgeous view, big price. As I'm sure we'll be planning our next Disney vacation on the flight home from Disney like some of the dads out there, based on some of the experiences I hope to hear about, I might have to shell it out!!! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Just put your cursor over the DDC logo in my siggie, then right click your mouse and save the url address, then you can place the url address in your siggie box.

Some of the rooms/suites you are seeing pics of are most likely DVC rooms. My DW and I had joined DVC back in 2002 but sold our points a few years later to help my mom move to Florida and get settled. Now that she is making a new life for herself and is doing much better, my DW and I bought back into DVC within the past couple of weeks. In the past, we have stayed at the DVC resorts in Vero Beach and Old Key West, both in one bedroom units, they are really nice and roomy. Not to mention, they also have full kitchens and washer/dryer units. When we were first DVC members, we had bought 350 points, starting out with 170 points, then doing add-ons. This time we are starting out small and just bought an OKW resale worth 50 points. We settled on $78@ point with the seller.

The wife and I are planning on DVC. Just trying to reduce our debt and save a bit for down payment and we will be joining. I am hoping they open Wilderness Lodge again, as that is our favorite resort, though Boardwalk is also very nice.

I am hoping in the next year or 2 we will own a piece of the magic. :cool1:

Probably the best way to get into Wilderness or Boardwalk is looking through the DVC resales, besides you get better prices that way as well. When we first bought DVC back in March 2002, the VWL had just sold out, so we wound up buying into BCV. A co-worker of mine had bought into VWL in November 2001 and told me all about it. If I had known they were going to be sold out when we went to WDW in 2002, I probably would have tried to buy before we went down. I just didn't know enough about DVC at the time and wanted to take the tour first before making that decision.
