Well, son of a Beverly, I just found a few seconds to catch up and post. My usual DIS time (work!) has been taken up lately since we have a consultant in last week and this week and I have to babysit him. He knocked off early today so I had a few minutes to get back to my desk and catch up on everything.

My secondary DIS time (sittin' around on the couch at night after putting the kids to bed) has been non-existent with the new house remodel job I'm working on. (To catch everyone up: with the new baby coming in the spring, we're moving our kitchen into what is currently a "office" because it has the patio doors to the backyard and thus can't be used as a bedroom. The current kitchen will be converted to my daughter's bedroom, with my son moving into her old room, and they baby getting his room - which is more of a nursery anyway.) And yes, as much of a pain as it is to type that, it's just as much to actually do it.

I've taken the room down to the studs (to facilitate new insulation, new electric, etc) and knocked out the closet so we can expand the room an extra 24 square feet or so. I've still got a bunch of clean up before this weekend's big project: plumbing!

Oh, and I've got our first Disney Cruise coming up in 32 days that needs planning, packing and attention. So no distractions there or anything. :rolleyes1

And you have the big Wisconsin vs. Nebraska game this weekend :thumbsup2

Yes, we are doing DDP. We'll be eating off of Dining plan on Saturday when we get there so we have an extra TS credit for our CRT lunch.

So, unfortunately, we won't have any extra TS credits for another signature dining experience.

I'm considering Via Napoli for our EPCOT dinner on Thursday. How does that work with DDP when it comes to ordering pizzas. I see they have different sizes. I'm assuming you would have to order the individual size?

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that Via Napoli is on the DDP list for 2012 yet!

Scott,
It looks like you already have an answer about the pizza size, but as far as V.N. not being oin the DDP yet… From what I understand, the date a place goes on the DDP has to do with who owns it (many of the restaurants are owned and run by different groups). Sometimes certain restaurants (their owners, that is) take longer than others to negotiate with the D. management, so many will not appear available on the DDP until later in the season, some even as late as January. I would suggest you go ahead and make the reservation now if you can (and that is what you want), and when it appears on the official “dining plan” it is not hard to change it to the DDP on the phone (I’ve done this before since I wanted to guarantee myself a table). The good news is while it may not be on the plan yet (meaning they are still in negotiations), almost no restaurant has left the dining plan once they were on it. So there is a pretty good chance they will be ready to serve you on the DDP well before you arrive.

Calling all DisDad Doctor's...

We switched our family Dr. recently.

During our checkup's the Dr. seemed concerned with something he found on my son. He had him X-ray'ed for Scoliosis (curvature of the spine). Curious how the last Dr. never seemed to notice it.

Anyways, after getting the X-ray, we found out the results today.

He said that it shows a 14% curve in the L1 (Lower lumbar - I think), and 7% in the upper or mid (I don't remember). He said they don't start to treat it until 20%.

He is 7 years old.

The Dr. said there is nothing we can do, and we should wait another year and X-ray again.

Anyone have any experience? Any words of advice, encouragement, etc...?

First off, I'm not A Doctor, but a concerned Dad who's been down that path.

DD15 was diagnosed with Scoliosis at around age 11 with about a 7% curve. They decided to keep tabs on her about once every six months. At age 13 it had progressed to about 14% and a year later to 26%. That is when they sent her to UVA to be checked by a specialist.

The team that checked her out decided that she had done just about all of the growing that she was going to do and that it should not get any worse. They do not typically do anything here until 30%. She is 5' 10" and hasn't grown much, if any, since that visit.

She does have some back pains on occasion, but the docs at UVA said that it is usually well prevented with plenty of exercise that moves the back. She takes dance lessons four hours a week and it certainly helps.

My suggestions to you is to:
1) Get a second opinion. There seems to be a lot of estimating when it comes to the severity of the curves when shown on an X-Ray.
2) Ask if you can have him checked more often to closer track the progress. Since he is younger, there is a lot more growing that he will be doing, especially at his age.
3) Keep him active! Exercise will do him a lot of good and possibly help keep any pains away.

I pray for you and your DS. Anytime our kids are diagnosed with an illness is scary.

forgot to mention. we had diner tonight at the rose and crown. that was the first time we have dined there and we loved it. we would of had the best seats in the house for illum. if we could have milked it out for 4 hours.:lmao:were i was sitting, i could watch the new group over in canada.:thumbsup2 tammy had a pork dish. (looked like sausage to me) with mashed potatoes and like any good red blooded american man, i had the beef!! red!!!:lmao: i also had potatoes, green beans and (i need someone to explain how this got its name):lmao: but , yorkshire pudding.:snooty: tasted like gravy bread to me but in a different shape!! very good.:thumbsup2 i had cheese cake and i dont now what tammy had, some kind of a pudding looking stuff. we finished everything. we each had 2 cokes and the bill came to $56.00.:confused3 i thought it would be more but i didnt tell tammy that, we would have had to go into mouse gear again.:lmao: im just kidding, she works long and hard hours and can get anything she wants. (under 20 bucks) :lmao: she was looking at a jacket over in norway ( norvay), she seemed to like it so i think we maybe headed over that way again. she likes to look again than just when you think you are in the clear, she gets ya!:lmao: she was also looking at a $1500 mm diamond necklace. :scared1: i was just kidding around and said why dont you get the $5000. one. she said i have something to tell you. (im looking for the tv cameras):lmao: (cant be preg., if she is its not mine.):lmao: the sat. before we left, her girl friend and her went to get there hair cut and what ever else and they stopped at steel stacks,(a casino in the old bethlehem steel plant) and won $1000.00.knock yourself out dear!! so thats explains the shopping today. tomorrow is breakfast at crystal palace and im guessing we are dessert ourself around the world for diner.:thumbsup2

Hey thanks, I appreciate the suggestions. I am going to speak with DW to discuss a second opinion, and to definitely follow up before a year.

My son doesn't know that we got the results back (he was in school when we went to see the Dr.). But last night when I put him to bed, I had him lie down on his stomach, and I tried to feel the spine to see if I could detect this curve. He said to me "Daddy, is my spine still curved.". Honestly brought a tear to my eye. What did he do to deserve this ailment?
I told him, "Buddy, you are fine. Get to bed and don't even worry about your back." He did. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for myself.

I really know so little about this. Like what are the long term affects, etc...? What are the odds that it'll get worse or repair itself on it's own?

Anyways - enough of my rant - someone please get Dave the origin of Yorkshire Pudding. :rotfl2:

Happy New Year (if applicable to you and your family)

I got choked up reading your comments. I'll be praying for you and your son.

Since you asked nicely.

Yorkshire Pudding from wikipediaWhen wheat flour began to come into common use for making cakes and puddings, cooks in the north of England devised a means of making use of the fat that dropped into the dripping pan to cook a batter pudding while the meat roasted. In 1737 a recipe for 'A dripping pudding' was published in "The Whole Duty of a Woman":[1]
Make a good batter as for pancakes; put in a hot toss-pan over the fire with a bit of butter to fry the bottom a little then put the pan and butter under a shoulder of mutton, instead of a dripping pan, keeping frequently shaking it by the handle and it will be light and savoury, and fit to take up when your mutton is enough; then turn it in a dish and serve it hot.
Similar instructions were published in 1747 in ‘The Art of Cookery Made Plain and Simple’ by Hannah Glasse under the title of 'Yorkshire pudding'. It was she who re-invented and re-named the original version, called Dripping Pudding, which had been cooked in England for centuries, although these puddings were much flatter than the puffy versions known today.[2]
A 2008 ruling by the Royal Society of Chemistry has it that "A Yorkshire pudding isn't a Yorkshire pudding if it is less than four inches tall".[3]
The Yorkshire pudding is a staple of the British Sunday lunch and in some cases is eaten as a separate course prior to the main meat dish. This was the traditional method of eating the pudding and is still common in parts of Yorkshire today. Because the rich gravy from the roast meat drippings was used up with the first course, the main meat and vegetable course was often served with a parsley or white sauce.
It is often claimed that the purpose of the dish was to provide a cheap way to fill the diners - the Yorkshire pudding being much cheaper than the other constituents of the meal - thus stretching a lesser amount of the more expensive ingredients as the Yorkshire pudding was traditionally served first.

No idea what you guys are talking about. Nobody in Boston has been able to follow baseball since our Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins began training camp.
First of all, using hockey success to talk smack to somebody from Indiana is a waste of effort. :lmao::rotfl2: My reaction: :confused3 :rolleyes1

Secondly, I enjoyed watching the Sox come back in 2004 and win the series. That said, one of my best friends apparently decided in October 2004 that he was no longer a Dodgers fan. He has been a life long Red Sox fan since 2004. :rotfl2: I think everything he owns now has a Red Sox logo on it. He is so obnoxious about it that I have gone from "liking" the Red Sox to despising them about as much as the Yankees, just so I can talk trash to him. Speaking of which, I need to make a phone call... :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Just wondering, is the closet you took out in the new bedroom or the kitchen. The reason i ask and maybe you don't care is if you have a bedroom that has no closet you can't call it a bedroom if you sell your house. I found this out when i bought my house. It had three bedrooms but because one was without a closet it wasn't counted as a bedroom. Just thought you would like to know if you already didn't.:)

I knocked the closet out of what will be the new kitchen and have plans to build a closet in what will be the new bedroom.

We bought our house as a 3 bedroom. (My son's current room doesn't count because it is directly off the master bedroom) But like I said - one of them had the patio doors to the back yard in it. When we tried to sell it this summer we did get a few comments that it was really a 2 bedroom because no one would use that room as a bedroom.

off to rope drop drop at mk and than crystal palace at 10 for breakfast. :thumbsup2
