Fetch....the comfy chair!

I think Rochester would be your best bet. It's a shorter run and you can hang out for an extra day - maybe hang out with your son? That's what I'd try to do if I was in your position.

The crew members don't really get time to hang out unless it is their "home show". That's what Millville was going to be for our son. It is highly unlikely that Rochester would be a home show for him due to the distance from Easton. We don't really know. We did have some family and friends planning to attend this weekend so we are really bummed out. We don't know if we will have an opportunity to see another show this year or not; we don't even know when they might start flying again.

I thought that it may have ended a little abruptly but wasn't sure. All six only did one pass together at the end and broke off for landing about the time they were passing over the runway. It was just under an hour from the time that Fat Albert went up until they landed so I figured that was the full show.

Wish that I could have gone over to meet the crew but with 30,000 people attending each day, I probably would never have gotten anywhere close.

The show was cut a little short as was the recovery of the jets. The crew chiefs had to be notified by radio to get back out to the tarmac for the recovery process. The crew probably wasn't available after that on Sunday due to the circumstances. They normally walk the crowds during the day and hand out photos, etc, especially for the kids. Once the jets land, they have very little time to mingle.

We were going to try to make it, let me know if they plan a later date:confused3, last week we had to make a huge detour coming back from Sesame Place because of a major accident, we ended up passing the entrance of Lakehurst Navel Base, they had a Blue Angel Jet (think it was #4) at the entrance, I'm taking it it's a old one, but I'm surprised that is not one of spots on thier tour:confused3

They probably won't return to Millville until 2013 at the earliest. Most sites are visited every 2 years or so although it can be much longer between shows for them. I don't think they have been to Rochester for 6 or 7 years from what I've read. The Millville show is still taking place this weekend, just without the Blues. There will be plenty more stuff to see including a team called Viper West that has a lot of fans.

Need some advice, Gents -

We're staying at CSR in July for 7 nights (myself, DW and DD4), on the DxDP, have 17 credits booked - 7 dinners (8 credits), 5 lunches (6 credits), and 3 character breakfasts (seven character meals total). I was saving one without an ADR for lunch on "arrival day", which has become a full park day now that we'll be leaving a half day earlier than originally planned (we're driving).

So my dilemma is this - do I troll the online booking and hope to get an ADR for somewhere in the MK or do we wing it and try to get into CP or LTT on a whim? And what do I do with the other three credits? Should I just use them for a QS breakfast on the days we don't have one scheduled? I also have no issue scheduling a later-ish lunch (12:30 or 1:00) somewhere else, as the real reason we're hitting MK on our first day is to get the Rapunzel M&G out of the way. I don't want it to be my albatross throughout the week. We have an ADR for Ohana (I'm looking forward to my first meat coma) at 6:00 if that makes a difference.

Any advice is appreciated.

Cheers,
Indy

Dude! Sounds like you are stressing yourself out!! If you have a Ohana reservation for that night.. I would grab a MK QS that first day.. I know it sounds like your wasting your deluxe dining but as we said on the podcast.. Dining plan is more for peace of mind and trying new restaurants.. You will definitely want to not have a big lunch if your have Ohana at 6p!

We always have meals and snacks left at the end of our trip! But we don't schedule like you have. We schedule 1 TS a day and wing it on the QS the rest of the time.. It makes for a less stressful vacation. If you do the "time math" with deluxe dining scheduling 3 meals a day at TS dining that's at least 4-5 hours of just eating every day!(that's showing up at ADR waiting to be seated and eating. It doesn't include traveling to your ADR.) From rope drop to closing at the parks.. Which you won't be able to do with the DD4.. your eating almost half of your park time literally! accumulative hours for seven days is a conservative 28 hours of just eating in a 7 day trip! That's 2 park days!! :scared:
I say chill don't over schedule your eating, and enjoy the parks! In the past I ran around.. Looking to see how many credits we had left and what I could use them for.. Gotta get my money's worth.. Now... Meh..:thumbsup2

Back up and running now. Yes. Didn't you know that there have been recent advancements in tin cans, allowing you to text and surf the web?

Cheers,
Indy

Wow. I've got a old version 1.0 tin can and string in the back of the closet somewhere. Truth be told, it's more like a rope, though. Half an inch thick and natural fiber - none of this fancy synthetic thread that the kids are using these days. It couldn't do much - post to a few BBSs and do some basic HTML markup. It didn't support Flash, though. I tried doing a firmware upgrade (new string) once, but I had to roll it back due to some incompatibilities with the old version of can that I was running (Campbell's Tomato)

That is ALOT of dining.

I would go to downtown Disney, and maybe just grab a sandwich at Earl of Sandwich, or something from Wolfgang Puck Express.

We did the DxDP before and it is a lot of food. But, we used the credits for all signature dining. So, we did character breakfast, snack credit lunch, and 2 TS dinner. Or, a CRT breakfast, snack, and 1 TS dinner. I am a big eater, and it was too much food for me. I'm glad to say I did it and ate at restaurants that I may not have, but don't plan on doing DxDP again.

I like the idea of DTD and Earl of Sandwich. I would not leave a theme park to go to DTD, only if you had a non-park day. With 3 people, you may find it easier to walk up to some TS places, especially at off times.

My advice would be to go QS to keep from over scheduling yourself. As it has been said, if you do several TS meals it will eat up a lot of time. If you want to do TS since that is essentially what you've paid for already and want to try a walk up, I'd go to CP right as they open for lunch (or any meal for that matter.) We've done that several times and so far we've lucked out every time. It is a buffet, so once you're seated, you can eat at your speed and not waste a lot of time there if you don't want to, and of course, if you can be one of the first in, it is always quicker anyway. If you try a walk up and nothing's available, then just go QS somewhere.

I just want to update, here on the Fatherthread, the DisDad meet at the Philly Zoo on June 5th. So far, it's just Ron and I who are going. We would love it if other Dads in the area would join us.

I gotta agree with Carl, here. 3 TS meals is too much in a day (2 is pushing it, but sometimes that break gives kids the extra steam to give you another few hours in the park). It is really hard to avoid the "must do everything" urge in Disney. But every year, I tell myself that, and every year, I can feel that urge creeping in (and I've been 10 times now- 6 with the kids!)

BIL update: Doing better, to be discharged today. "Mortified" was his word and he's lashing out a bit and my DW for letting the word get out on FB. Like the NYPD cop sitting 24/7 at his bedside was keeping it a secret? (Apparently that's a tradition. My BIL is NYPD and if there is one in the hospital, another stays vigil in the hospital 24/7). And the two emergent stents they placed wasn't serious? Anyway, given his (and my MIL's) reaction, I doubt this is going to be life-changing event. He's know about a cholesterol > 300 for years now and never did anything. They're sending him home on Zocor, a beta-blocker and aspirin, but I question his compliance.

Bragging a bit: My oldest DS had his scoutmaster conference for tenderfoot badge last night. This is kind of like an interview where they question you about the troop, scouting and what you've learned. Our troop is pretty formal about this and they do a scoutmaster conference and board of review with every rank advancement on your way up the ranks. It seems like an excellent tool for their development. Anyway, my DS was very nervous about it, but did great! I'm not ashamed to admit it: seeing the pride in his face as we left and again when telling his mom about it brought me to tears.

Have a great day guys! And a safe Memorial Day!

Morning all! Half day today, then up to the lake for the long weekend. Looking forward to relaxing a bit... Hope you all have a terrific day!

Hope all you guys have a great Weekend....

We've been serving warrants all week, and I'll be fishing all weekend:cool1::cool1::woohoo::woohoo:

And the Memorial Day parties at Indianapolis Motor Speedway are underway!!!

Watching the local news this morning as I sit here at work. They're at IMS where fans are gathering for a weekend at the track. They went to a motor home, where the occupants have obviously started consuming adult beverages for breakfast. One was wearing a Viking hat stumbling around and another was wearing a wife beater spraying himself with deodorant while being interviewed. :lmao::rotfl2:
