:confused3 hmmm how about that Aaron? our resident Gov't issued Law-man?

I don't practice tax law. But research trips are legitimate business expenses. Deductibility will be determined, among other things, by the extent to which being a TA is legitimately a "business" as opposed to a "hobby". For specific legal advice, I strongly recommend you consult with a tax attorney.

CONGRATS STOPHER!!!!
well the tornado lastnight missed me by about 4 miles. living in the notheast, we are not use to this stuff,or know what to look for. i was sitting her on the dis and all of a sudden the fire whistle started blowing. i looked up and the south west was black. there was a faint humming noise, almost like thunder that didnt stop. my wife was a baseball game and a girl she was with, husband called who lives in that direction and they were in the basement!!! he wasnt sure what it was but it was loud and started to swirl. the tornado went buy them in about 1/2 mile and moved on to the east toward nj. i never seen anything like that before.
I'm glad it missed you Dave, that's never fun... I've seen a few tornadoes before, but usually from a safe distance and thankfully, not coming towards me. Not that it was a good thing for someone else.

Our preacher had a gathering at his house last night for basically a bunch of 20 somethings. His son is a Ranger and his daughter is a nurse in the military and has been stationed in Hawaii for about 2 or 3 years now. She had a baby 6 weeks ago and they were all home for the week, so they had a big gathering for some of us who grew up with them or were friends from church/school. When we left home the sky was starting to get dark. They came over the radio with a tornado warning for our area and just as the sirens start going off, we come to a stoplight. I'm sitting at this stoplight with all sorts of debris flying around, trees bending, branches flying, the stoplights shaking, and it felt like the back end of our Tahoe wanted to lift off the ground. I was looking around for a tornado or funnel cloud, but never saw one anywhere. I was about ready to just gun it and run the redlight, and apparently someone else had that idea as well and ended up getting T-boned in the middle of the intersection. It wasn't a big hit and apparently neither was concerned enough to stop in that situation... they both stopped for a few seconds and then took off.:confused3 We made the rest of the drive safely, but had to dodge tree branches on the road and just before we pulled into the driveway, a big branch blew out of a tree across the road right in front of us. Not a fun drive but we made it there. Cleared up right after we go there there too. I think it was just straight line winds and no tornadoes, but there are trees, power lines and branches on the ground everywhere. Scary evening, but not as scary as it must have been for those in Joplin the other night.

I hate this kind of weather.

Glad that you guys are okay and that everything missed you.

Now be nice, Andy is a Reds fan.

As am I. Been stinking it up over the last 7 or so..................

OK so I posted on another thread and was told to come here to get a memeber number from Emma's Dad. I don't quite know much about how to use thread but I like the idea sharing. Especially since I have only been to Disney once yet plan to take my kids as much as possible.

So...um... trip planned for end of Sept 2011. Family consists of ME, DW (not sure what that means but I see everyone use it and assumed it stood for wife), son (9) and 2 daughters (7&3).

I have much to learn I know but I look forward to getting to make some new friends and gleaning off everyone's experiences. I can post pre-trip planning soon.

Welcome to the nut house.:lmao:

GentleDads, do you think your funny? Well here's you chance. Look at the picture and then post your funny caption! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2492482&page=93

Got mine entered. I love those sarcastic looks that early teens can give. Just yesterday, while we were sitting at the supper table, I told my family this tidbit about school for the rest of the year: "did ya'll know that we only have 1 more Monday in the school year but have 3 days left each for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday?" DD, who is 13, looked at me and said, "man, you didn't get much done at work today did you?" :lmao:

State testing started today for our system. I was talking to DW as she was driving home from work to pick up DS so that she could take him to school when she frantically told me to hold on. About 2 seconds later, I heard the sound of an engine and a siren as it went past her. She said it was a State Trooper and he was moving pretty quickly. Turned out there was a terrible wreck about a mile from my current house, and actually right in front of the house that I grew up in. Traffic was tied up for quite a while. DW was absolutely panicking about getting DS to school, so I told her an alternate, backroad route. Did she listen?? No, of course not:rolleyes1 Where I told her to turn left, she went straight, because "all of the other cars were going straight too." When she got turned around, I told her to turn right IMMEDIATELY AFTER crossing the railroad tracks. Guess what?? Nope to that too. She turned right BEFORE the tracks. Finally got her turned around and on the right road, and she got DS to school about 15 minutes late. This is a 5 minute trip that took 45 minutes. Luckily for us, they had halted all testing for about 4 schools in the county (mine included) because there were so many teachers, students, and buses held up it the wreck. While it increased everyone's stress level, we reminded everyone (students and teachers alike) to put it in perspective because while we were stressing about a test, there is a family that is having to deal with a very critically injured family member (and the outlook is not good, either), and that was way more important than any test we could take.

I wouldn't go there....;)

You know...I figured as much. :lmao:

This may be something for the rant thread, but I'm posting here because it relates to something I posted here last week. I was in the process of looking at cars and maybe trading one of my trucks for something that gets better mpg. Well, I was mowing the yard this evening and my mower started making a loud noise. Next thing I know, it stops cutting and smoke is pouring out from underneath me. A bearing basically exploded on the center pulley on the mower deck. The blade is pretty much welded to the shaft and the housing for the bearing and shaft now has an egg shaped hole in it. On top of that, as I pulled the deck off and took it apart, I started checking the other bearings and one of the other blades also feels like the bearing might be starting to go bad. This is on a mower that was under warranty up until about 2 months ago.:headache:

I was seriously considering trading for a different ZTR before this season, but I already had blades, filters, etc so decided to keep it for another year. I think the money that I was planning on using to get a new car might just go towards a new mower. If I can get anybody to work with me on mine as a trade in I'll probably just trade it rather than spend a few hundred bucks on a mower I wanted to trade for a bigger one anyway.

I ran into my 1st planning snag:eek: They have a new lunch at The Animal Kingdom Lodge called Dine With Animal Specialists: An Untamed Touch:cool1: Now it's in a trial state and they only do it on Weds, limited to 12 people total.

On the Wed we are there I have a 8am ADR at 1900 Park Fare, A 10am ressie at Epcot for AAA Storytime, Then its off to Seaworld, T-Rex Cafe for a Late dinner and DTD the rest of the night:scared1:

Any other day of the week I could fit this in, maybe they will expand the days:confused3 Otherwise I guess I'll have to wait till next June to do it, if they still have it, since I promised Wife & Son we would do Seaworld this time since we didn't go last trip

Now that would be awesome! Poly is by far my favorite. The points to trade into it are way to high to be worth it right now though, imo...
Absolutely love that resort!!
:thumbsup2

you can log on to sears and order a bearing assembly for about $40 and have it on in 30 minutes!! Especially if you already have the deck off!! Change your blades while your at it!!

My lawn has lines in it.. And for the price I am paying it shouldn't be like that!!:rotfl2:

Well, I did give it a try, but the search didn't net me any results. Problem is I have an Exmark and need quite a bit more than a bearing. Apparently Exmark thinks so highly of their stuff that they don't let others sell parts and I need the housing, shaft and everything... yeah, no big deal to do with the deck off, and honestly as easy as it was to take the deck off, I was mad at the fact that I've always jacked it up and crawled around on the ground in the past when changing or sharpening blades. :lmao:

Actually a little bit of backstory, my dad bought the same mower I did a few years ago, we got a little bit of deal for buying 2 at once. His mower had a bearing go out after about a month, fully under warranty. The guy told him he couldn't believe it, he's never seen one fail before. Now I've got one down and another probably about to go... not sure I trust the machine at this point.:confused3 Dad has a new John Deere ZTR mower and I think I'll load it up and borrow it tomorrow. Might see if I like it as much as he does.:rolleyes1 One thing's for sure, I'll definitely get to see how well it cuts tall grass. I was about to get my 15' Woods pasture mower out to start mowing the big areas of the yard tonight after I tore my Exmark apart.:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Edit: I can look the parts up on the Exmark website, but it doesn't even have a part number for a couple of the things I need and even after I put everything in the "cart" it doesn't give me a price or even the option buy it. I just allows me to print the parts list to take to a dealer. Yeah.... bye bye Exmark.... it's been real, it's been fun, but it ain't been real fun.

Welcome!!!

Family Acronyms...

DW = Dear Wife...Disney Wife...Darling Wife...Darn Wife...depends on your mood at the moment...but we know you will always love her.

DS## = Disney Son...etc. ##=age...so for you would be DS9...not to be confused with the old Star Trek Show.

DD## = Disney Daughter...etc. ...so you would have DD7 and DD3.

MIL = She who must not be named.

Hope that helps.

OK got it. Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes. I look forward to building freindships. Will probably put together a pre-trip report since I have noticed a trend of liking surprise trips and that's exactly what I've got in the works.
:wave2: bye for now.

Was just thinking about this :confused3:lmao: When I got home tonite my throat was a little sore, so I did a shot of Black Berry Brandy (80pf), my chaser was a rum & coke (rum 80pf). Does that even count as a chaser:confused3

Absolutely! It wasn't quite 80 proof anyway if you diluted it with Coke.:thumbsup2

Trying to convence DW that I need to book a WDW research trip. :thumbsup2

...or a DCL research trip. :thumbsup2

All for my "new" part-time career...of course. :lmao:

:confused3 hmmm how about that Aaron? our resident Gov't issued Law-man?

Nate I don't know how you would pull it off (unless you know some high ups in the company, that would want you to make sure things are running smooth) but isn't Spaceship Earth sponsered by your company:confused3 That would probably be your loophole:confused3

Evening all, hope everyone is weathering all this crazy weather...busy day, got a lot of doctor appointments outta the way, although my blood pressure just won't go down, so more meds for me. But on the bright side, DW and I played hooky from work to have a rare movie date, saw POTC4, I liked it.

Also, we finished paying for this August's trip, so Mickey Mail will be on the way soon..:banana::woohoo:

MIL = She who must not be named.

Hope that helps.

Hey, it;s not all that bad, my MIL usually takes my side over DW

Those decks come off soo easy!! When I was a kid I worked for sears pruduct services.. Lawn division.. So I know exactly what you are going through! They would have separate parts for the bearing assembly.. But they also had the entire assembly on my truck. I always had the parts.. But was always running out of the assembly..:rolleyes1 i had a lift that was attached to the back of my van literally drove the tractor to the back of the van and it hooked into the bumper.. 5 seconds and it was up and secure! I kind of miss smelling like gasoline and rotten grass!:thumbsup2

From a professionals opinion.. You need to buy a brand new tractor.. Black with a disdads logo!!:rotfl2: and of course ZTR! You could always break out the push mower (only while the wife is there) mow about 20 feet squirt water all over your face and shirt.. then come in panting.. Let her see how much work it is.... Viola... She makes you go this instant.. To get your primo ZTR 200hp turbo charged disdads logo'd racer.. I mean mower!!:rotfl2:

Is fake cheese legal in Wisconsin?:confused3
I had to smuggle it in from Illinois.

Not really, I thought Steve and Barry were going to help you out.

Sorry, Nate. I've gone from one TR to another - and I've only got about 30 days to finish the current one. I haven't even been over to the tread to look at the pictures, let alone enter or even moderate it. Hopefully once I get from my June/July trip I can hop back over and lend a hand.
