And just as an aside . . . . the reason the 'Canes had such a poor showing in '08/'09 Conference Championship is because Bill Cowher professed his new fandom of the NC team. As a local sports radio host said so eloquently "I'm glad he's pullin' for the 'Canes. Cowher has a long history of getting to Conference Championships, but can never win them."

Go Pens!

i always told my wife, " just what i would want, another women givin me orders!:lmao: i i have a hard enough time putting up with one, why would anyone want to have to deal with more of them and there feelings.:lmao:(my dw isnt on the dis.):lmao:

Wedding vows to me, are sacred, and to go against them, is a BIG no-no. I am quite far from a religious person, but I spoke those vows in front of God, and I for one will not get on his bad side.;)

Also, especially since DW does not go on the DIS boards, I'm safe from her jealous streak, especially pertaining to certain Jasmine pics :rolleyes1

I now understand you facination with OHL hockey. :rotfl2:

If I want to see hockey in April, it's a given.:rotfl: Actually, the OHL provides good hockey for a lot cheaper, and there are lots of future stars to watch. I stick with Toronto in the NHL, mainly out of loyalty, and I don't want to be a bandwagon jumper. I stuck with them through the horrendous '80s, and was rewarded with a few good runs in the early '90s (92-93 was SO close) ....eventually things will be rosey again. Maybe....

At one point as a child I heard my parents fighting and I was worried that one of them might be having an affair. (they weren't) They responded that they had 4 kids and they had neither the time nor the energy to have an affair...

I read some where that the average affair costs about 16K a year. I could buy into DVC for that. I'd be willing to bet in 30 year BLT'll look a whole lot better than the other woman.

I'm with INDY on this one :woohoo:

Nevermind that it would cost me $16k to have an affair, I can tell you it would cost me a beverly lot more than that once my wife found out!

I'll leave the stepping out to the politicians and professional athletes. They have the money and energy for it. I'm good...

This talk about affairs costing money made me think of a joke my wife's grandpa was telling a few weeks ago when his wife of 58 years passed away. He was telling stories about their life together and someone asked him about how long they'd been together and been married and how they managed to make it work all those years. He said they couldn't afford to get a divorce when they were younger and too tired to get a divorce after they got older.:lmao::rotfl2:

I just walked in and my wife was working on her laptop with the Disney Site up and a word doc open in which she was creating a price comparison matrix. Just one more on a ginormous pile of reasons why I'd be a dang fool to have an affair.

That one's a keeper!

We'll be there from the 16th through the 25th. The trip always goes by so quickly that we decided to make this stay a little longer than usual for us.

Dvczerfs will also be there. We'll see if we can't all meet up somewhere along the line.

Finally a place for us! I can't believe I've never seen this page before! Been posting and lurking around Disboards since August of 2010.

We are new DVC members and are coming home to BLT August 21-26, 2011!

I am happily married and we have two wonderful children.

Kennedy our Daughter at 20 months
Grayson our Son at 2 months

Welcome to the club.

So this morning I was reading Ecclesiastes and came across this.

"The more words you speak, the less they mean. So what good are they?"

Just checked the post count for this thread and I'm currently #1. Crap.:rotfl:

:lmao:

Good ol' Ecclesiastes. Probably my favorite Book in the OT if not the whole Bible.

I tend to chase after allot of wind...and it's good to remind me of that.

One of my favorites too. It was read at our wedding rehearsal dinner, and if I'm still alive and kicking, I'll read it at my son's too.

That's funny. I was just there a few minutes ago myself and my counter read 31 days and change. :thumbsup2

Yeah, but they did skate a cup a few years ago. :thumbsup2

Really struggling with a dilemma for DS. He is interested in trying out for a classic soccer team in another city. He loves playing with our current home town team, but they play in the challenge league, which is a step down from classic. Just don't know if we want to fork out the extra $$ to go up a group, but also don't want him to miss an opportunity to get some better coaching (not saying that our coach is bad; on the contrary, he is great) and to play against some significantly better competition if he were to make the team. The better competition would be great for him, and to be honest, would probably knock him down a notch or two (which wouldn't be too bad right now as he feels that he is invincible on the soccer field). I told our current coach that we would be interested in playing next year with the home team, but we will also have to play up another age group (to U12), and if we manage to make a classic team, we could be with our U11 group like he is supposed to be.

Any advice?? I'm just torn to staying loyal with the local folks, but also want him to get a chance to advance if he wants to (and he does).

It appears that congratulations are in order for everyone who's been participating in the Dis Dads Podcasts. It was brought to my attention that the podcast has made the iTunes "What's Hot" list in the Places & Travel category - a list of the "hottest" (and I'm not sure how they measure that) 120 podcasts in the category.

Thanks everyone for all of your support and participation!!

You deserve a big round of applause for all your work on the podcast Aaron. :worship:

The following is just my $.02. I'm assuming DS is 11ish. I'm sure you have a pretty decent handle on his current skill set. If you all decide that playing in the better league will help build that skill set towards a goal (playing/scholarship in college) then go for it. The investment now may save you money down the road. If you all decide that playing up is more of a "I might be able to do it" moment, maybe it's not the time to do so. That 11-14 age group is so hard to get a handle on athleticly. One year DS may be middle to bottom of the pack, then he hits a growth spurt, gets some coordination and is running circles around kids. I guess my point is that even if you all decide that it might be better to play locally this year, it still may be a viable option down the road in summer club teams and such. I guess it could be a teachable moment with DS of self-assessment, financial responsibility and solid decision making.

Again, just my take. Hope my rambling helped.

Cheers,
Indy

I grew up in New Jersey so I am a Devils fan. The nearest hockey rink was also the Devils practice rink for a while so we used to see them all the time.

Anyway, most people don't know the story behind the New Jersey Devils nickname. It is actually based on a New Jersey legend/myth:

Looks like we're short a couple of podcasters tonight - anyone want to pinch hit? Conversation will revolve around Disney Dining Plans tonight.

I held off getting into either of those shows just in case they got cancelled. I figured I could always catch up on dvd/netflix if they were worth watching... I got into Flashforward, and then they cancelled that after a cliffhanger of a season finale, so I decided not to get sucked into something like that again...

Still fuming over the Lost finale, that show suckered me in big time!

Morning all!
Lost was GREAT until the ending episode... stupid network execs.

Unless they're running reruns of Firefly and Battlestar Galactica.
I've got plans to catch this on DVD. A pal owns both on DVD.

What's worse: Being on God's Beverly List, or your DW's? I'm not really sure.

And DW reads along with me, so she rolls her eyes at me laughing at the comments and Jasmine photos.
