Yet another character meet & greet coming soon, Angelica, daughter of Captian Blackbeard from the upcoming POTC Movie. She will be in Adventureland starting April 15th:cool1:

Andy, you are south of Indy, right?
Yes, SE.

Hey Guys

Sorry to be a downer here this evening. We have had a huge tragedy today and I need you all to remember a special family from our church in your prayers. The Father and 2 children were on the way to watch 2 older sons play a baseball game for their High School and they were hit head on. The Father was killed and the children teenage girl and 8 year old boy were lifeflighted and are both in the or right now with ruptured bowels caused from the seatbelts. In addition to the ruptured bowels...The daughter is also unable to feel anything from the diaphragm down or unable to move and we are told she has broken bones in her back but I am not sure what part of her back. The youngest son has a borken jaw and multiple facial lacerations. Please send prayers up for this family. They are a very special family to us!

Will do... I can't even imagine...

Herd, thoughts and prayers to the family. That is one of my biggest fears with my daughter starting to drive now. I am sure you will keep us posted.

On a lighter note: A couple of days ago, one of the cars had a dead battery and I had DD help me jump it. It kept stalling out and took a couple of times to get it running. Today after school, one of her friend's car was dead and she was the only one that knew how to jumb start it (including the boys that were assembled). They were impressed and she felt pretty good about it.

My mom's friend, a woman in her late 50's told me a story similar to this recently. She had a daughter in college who came home for a school break and went to Indy with some friends. She called her mom saying she was stuck on the side of the road with a flat tire and needs help. Her mom told her she has a spare, change it. She replied that she didn't know how. Her mom told her to call AAA. She didn't have the card or know the number. Mom told her she was on her way... she gets to the car and finds her daughter, another girl and 2 guys. You'd have to know this lady to understand how she is, but I can definitely see her doing this... She gets out of her car and changes the tire on her daughters car, the whole time, absolutely ripping into the 2 guys for not knowing how to change a tire. She told them if they were going to sit around watching a middle aged woman change a tire, she was going to make sure they never had to watch someone else change a tire ever again. I'd have seriously been humiliated to be one of those guys, especially knowing how relentless she is...:rolleyes1

I sure would have loved to have been there to watch though!:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

This is so sad (but unfortunately, not at all surprising). Would be ashamed of those boys. And as a father of a daughter, I'm going to make sure she knows how to do this as well

It has been brought to my attention that Thursday nights are difficult for some of the guys. I have one already scheduled for Tuesday. I'm thinking I may move a couple more to Tuesday nights. Do I have any requests for Wednesday nights?

Love the Tuesday night thought. DW's first night off from work is Thursday night, and as much as I would love to do a podcast on that night, I really don't like to spend time in the doghouse on her first night off. On Tuesday's, I can get the kids in the bed then be ready to go at 9.

Hey guys... just popping in quickly to say hi. Nice to see the thread is moving right along with another 8 or 9 new pages.

We made it safely yesterday and are enjoying being here. Had a few glitches along the way with the travel part, but that's okay. We enjoyed the resort last night, and had a great time playing games.

Today it rained, quite a bit of lightening and thunder, with downpours throughout the morning and into the early afternoon, which definitely plays well with hanging out at the resort. We enjoyed a movie, played a bunch of Wii, played cards, and DD and I played hide and seek (this room is ginormous... if you have stayed in a 2 BD at OKW before then you'll know what I mean); made three awesome meals in the room - even ate one of them out on the balcony after the rains had stopped... and when it stopped and cleared up around 2ish, we went over and played some mini-golf at Winter Summerland. Never done that one before, only Fantasia Gardens previously. It was neat. Just like Blizzard Beach, it has some great contradictions in theming. Loved it. During the rain we ventured over to the Community Hall for Pin Trading; while there we were treated to button making. I took some pics and will post them later. Normally that is an activity-for-a-fee, but today is was gratis due to the rain. We each made one, my daughter made 3. Mine was Goofy. I should have added my number for something to it, but only thought about that now as I was typing. One son ventured over to DTD to find a present for his sister, the other ventured over to the resort shop, and in the evening DD and I ventured over to the main pool.

Tomorrow is DD's birthday, and we go for the first of our 2 table service meals. We'll breakfast at Whispering Canyon Cafe, followed by a trek over to Typhoon Lagoon, then pool hopping after that. (and yeah, I know - it's a park, just not a "theme" park. But it was the kids' request, so we're honoring it - and it IS DD's birthday, so a little honoring is called for I guess...)

We still aren't sure what Thursday or Friday will bring. We're living on the edge here... but having a marvelous time. The rest of the week has no more rain in the forecast, so hopefully that plays out to be true.

I'll post some pics and such when I get home again.

Have a great week guys... I am. :cool2:

Glad that ya'll are there safely. Probably a little different weather then when we met up in January, huh??

Interesting article.....

#4 is obvious....and where my first week of vacation is spent!

#5 is where I live!

#6 is where my second week of vacation is spent!

We also vacation a week at #6 too.

I wish that I could find a place to download more music from the parks. I've downloaded some stuff of itunes, but it isn't the park version of the music... just not the same. I've got to say the #1 sound for me is "this here is the wildest ride in the wilderness!"

You guys try this link. If anyone can get it downloaded to an IPod, will you let me know how you did it?? I've been trying for some time now to get that done. This is some great area music from EPCOT and the MK.

ETA that I'm an idiot (ID 10T disease at its finest) and forgot to put the link in:

Mine is the Monorail speil for sure. Like i mentioned on the podcast I have the shirt, hats and the ringtone!
Whenever I need a fix I have a file on my itouch with over 570 mp3's of various disney stuff. From rides to background noises to songs if it is in the park I more then likely have it.

Any request email me.

I would love the monorail ringtone. Email coming your way.

We usually wind up spending our time in Cherry Grove. Much quieter up there.

Cherry Grove it is. Been there for one week each summer for the past 13 years. Duffy Street Seafood Shack and up hwy 9 to Horry's Seafood = some pretty dang good seafood.

That is so horrible. That family is in my prayers.

An eerily similar thing happened in our town a few years ago. A mother, father and their 16 year old son left church and the mother and father were killed in a head-on collision by some moron who stole a car and drove the wrong way down the highway. The son was seriously injured and the driver of the stolen car was killed. We had just been in church with them a few minutes earlier and then they were gone.

Again, my prayers are with that family and all those who know them.

Just Checking in. I've got 2 things tonight about me, but first, I was sorry to read the post. and, the man law about not worrying about bringing the thread down. So, please share. It's why we're here.

about me: I'm a fan of sci-fi/fantasy novels. The sequel to Eon: Dragoneye Reborn (Eona: The last Dragoneye) is due out April 19. I haven't been this excited about a book release since Harry Potter 7. It's for young adults, but I know what I like.
2) My car got broken into! My 2011 Mustang V6. We had a threat of storms, so I moved my car under an overpass near the house. While it was under there, some people came by, busted the window, and looked for my hidden treasures. Well, I spent all my $ on the car, so I have none left for guns, iPods, cash, or drugs. Seriously, when you see a carseat, do you think there's a gun?!? Well, the idiots couldn't even break just the window! Instead, the messed up the paint, and the rearview mirror, and the sheet metal.... to the Tune of $2700.
Insurance aside, it's still a P.I.T.A., and all they got was $1.50 in quarters.

That is too funny. I would have made them change the tire all the while berating them and their lack of manhood. Then I would have called their fathers and told them about it while suggesting they do a car maintenance 101 class for their sons.

That’s just wrong… :sad2:

sounds like heaven! Unfortunately I have to be "super dad" and get the fast passes for space mountain while they run to big thunder! I just finished reading "The Hidden Magic of Disney" it's pretty good. They stress slowing down and absorbing the little nuances that make Disney what it is! All the small things that your mind notices but you don't necessarily acknowledge.:thumbsup2 thanks for sharing!

A very good book I hope to put to good use in August....the whole theme to this trip is "slow down"(except for "runnerdad" getting TSM fastpasses before our breakfast ADR at Hollywood & Vine)

As it has been said here already, it's what we do.

BigTikiDaddy,
I saw a tweet that a new Disney Store opens in Missauga today. Is that where you are?

Yup...just about 5 miles or so away actually. DW went to the opening, pretty big crowd, she looked around a bit and left. She got a pair of "Disney Store" Ears and looked at all the interactive displays, but left without purchasing anything, too busy. She said there was a Build-A-Cars which was quite good, quite a bit of customizing involved, as well as a whole new look to it. It was actually a rehab then a new store, it's been in the mall for years now, we have spent MANY a $$ there. Next Saturday there is the "grand opening" with Goofy and Pluto appearing for meet & greets, but frankly, the store is adjacent to the food court, and is always busy, so it should be a madhouse. I think frankly, it'll be easier for the kids to see them at Disneyworld, less crowds.

Hope they re-stocked those Doofenshmirtz shirts I saw before it closed in January!

There are Doofenshmirtz shirts in the Dis Dads Commissary Amazon-affiliate store. And no madhouse to fight to get to them. Just a thought - http://astore.amazon.com/disdads-20?_encoding=UTF8&node=6
