Touche!
Yeah he did - I just wanted to bad mouth the Yankees!![]()
It's OK. I'm used to it. But, to defend myself and my love of the Yankees, my grandparents were fans since the '30s and had season tickets all through the late 50s and into the 60s until Mantle retired and the family moved to New Jersey. I was born in 1969 and grew up in a house that basically worshipped the Yankees. I have been to Opening Day in the freezing rain and snow more times than I care to remember. It used to be, in the '80s, Bleacher seats were $4.50 and beers were $4.75. So for 20 bucks, a college kid and his friends could see a game and get pretty well lubricated, especially a day game. This was when Stump Merrill wsa the manager and the Yanks were trotting out Wade Taylor, Jeff Johnson, Scott Kaminiecki, etc. to pitch. The only bright spots were Donnie Baseball and an occasional young player who eventually flopped (Kevin Maas, Dan Pasqua, Sam Militello). So, from when I was 9 (1978) until I was 27 (2006), the Yankees did not win a CHampionship but the Mets did (1986).
