I know... I came into work a couple of hours late this morning.... just about the same time it really started to get nice out. Really can't wait till I can get out of here again.

If it weren't for this nasty cold of mine, I'd be sitting with my laptop out on the patio, instead of inside the house.

So checking the stats for #7 - we're now up to page 122, or nearly half way through in just 15 days. We're averaging 8.13 pages per day. Wow. It looks like we'll need to be ready for #8 Don by the last week of March if this pace continues.

Trying to get most of the 1st coat spackeling done before I pick up my son from school, yesterday had to stop early, I showed my son how to spakel the screw holes, he was doing a good job, and then he slipped off the little foot stool, and one of his feet went rite into the spackel bucket:scared1::lmao: I spent a hour and a half cleaning up his (New:scared1:) sneaker:rotfl:, So I figured we will do something else in the room when he gets home, I'm also starting to think that when it's painting time, maybe I should do it when he's in school:confused3:lmao::goodvibes

Folks,

I took the kids out yesterday to a Carnival in the afternoon and Disney on Ice in the evening (Woo Hooo - great job dad!) :)

While I was out my Camera broke. It's a Canon PowerShot A560 - just a simple point and shoot. Well now when I turn it on, the lens doesn't come out, and it makes a clicking sound (like the gears are stripped or caught). It's a couple of years old now.

So I need a new camera. I don't want to spend a fortune (looking to spend between $150 -> $200).

Any recommendations for a GOOD camera in that price range?

As always - thanks Dads.

Anyone use this Olympus Camera ?

Regular $279, on for $179 this week...?

Thoughts?

:rotfl: Oh I hear that!

Three years ago I painted the entire downstairs - while the DW and kids were not home. They were actually not even in the state. We had all been out west for a family vacation, but after two weeks there I had to come home for work. They stayed on another week and a half. I used that week and a half to my advantage, getting all of the work done in the evenings without little "helpers" around. Sure it's nice to let them "help" and to teach them ... but not when you're dealing with 6 rooms of painting!

That is the type of camera I have. Yes. It's a nice little camera, and has some cool settings. I chose this one specifically for the waterproof features as I need something durable on my many Scout outings. Especially Summer Camp. Plus it's cool to be able to take pictures in the water at the water parks, or in the pools. My eldest loves to take it down the slides on the video setting and then capture the splash into the pool itself. It's nothing super fancy, but can and does take some nice pictures. There are multiple settings, and you can do so some tweaks to a few of them to get "better" shots, if you know what you are doing photography-wise. Nothing like the fancy ones, but it's servicable and works great IMO. I like the size and weight too - both great for slipping in and out of your pocket easily. Nothing bulky about it.

Thanks Chris...

The water resistant feature is a good thing, but not the major feature I am looking for.

I am looking for crisp / bright pictures from a bit of a distance. Kids school assemblies, sporting events, etc...

Most camera's are good close up with little movement, but unfortunately that's not what most people shoot. :)

Everyone head over to Don's TR and celebrate his Birthday...and lack of progress!!! :rolleyes1

:bday:

Happy Birthday to you

19 days til WDW

my ticker is off by a day due to the change in our trip dates. But I'm not going to worry about that.

Very true.

My wife prefers her Nikon to my Olympus. I love the durability factor, which is precisely what I was looking for in a camera. Something I can take out into the woods and not care if it falls, or falls into the stream. Something that isn't going to get damaged by temperature fluctuations or massive humidity.

Yep - and then it's just too much trouble to bother fixing them when you're only going to have to remove it a few days later anyway. :rotfl: Oh the details...

Dinner- Tusker House

Fri: DHS Rope Drop
TSM, Jedi Training, Little Mermaid

Sounds Good:banana:
For the DHS you might want to split up at rope drop, someone get FP's for TSM and the other head to Jedi Training with the kids, they now do all the Jedi Training show booking as soon as the park opens, and give you a return ticket with what show they will be in, with like 15 kids per show, it fills quickly and can be full within the 1st hour of park opening:scared1:

I just picked up the wife a Canon SD1300IS at best buy for like $110. Nice point and shoot...and I swear by Canon's point and shoot for great pics. Replaced her SD1000 that lasted 5 years.

D'oh... snuck out ownage again.

Podcast Episode 2 recorded - great job Mark, John and Eric!

Cool! Looking forward to listening! :thumbsup2

Anybody have anything they could post to DISDads.com? We haven't had any new content since Monday, and I don't think the new podcast episode will be ready to post until tomorrow or Friday.

I'll see if I can finish up my TR. It's been on my mind, I just haven't had time to sit down and git 'r done.

Everyone head over to Don's TR and celebrate his Birthday...and lack of progress!!! :rolleyes1

Now there's an idea! Happy birthday Don!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GOOSE!!!!:thumbsup2

Problem with that - too many colours to choose from... :lmao:

Funny - I am checking that out at the bestbuy (Canada website at $199) - and the ratings are COMPLETELY different by colour:

Silver - 2.5 out of 5
Pink - 4.3 out of 5
Brown - 4.0 out of 5
Blue - Not rated

So clearly I have to get the Pink... :rotfl2:

So okay guys...

as you'll recall, we're going to the World in about 3 weeks - and it's a non-parks trip. While there are plenty of things to do in the world to occupy our time - several of which we'll be doing - the boys have asked /are wanting something to do off-property for one day. We are not doing a theme park - so US or SW or any others are not an option. We've been to the Space Center before, and we've been to the ocean just once as a family. (I've been to various beaches in Florida over the years but not the family). We've done Medieval Times, and a few of the little things on International Drive as well.

If this were YOUR trip, and YOUR kids asking... what kinds of ideas do any of you have for some kind of a nice, off-property excursion? I have some ideas already, but thought I'd just open it up to some others to see what other things might come up... that we haven't already thought of.

We might not even venture off property - I just want to be armed with options in case we do.

Thoughts?
