Ooh, There's a view i can't wait to see again.

Strange how my little one is starting to really get into some of the cartoons that were on when I was a kid. She's been a Scooby Doo fan for a while but lately has been enjoying Tom and Jerry, Wacky Races, and the Smurfs (OK, not all winners). I agree with Mipatn on the Wonderful World of Disney. I wish they would bring that back and the Muppet Show.

Not Kansas' fault that the three Big Least teams in the Region couldn't hold up their seeds. :confused3
It is funny how the 9th place team in the Big Least is in the Final 4. :confused3 ;)

Can someone please go check on Aaron?
LOL... There was a record amount of Pabst's Blue Ribbon sold in Kanas in the last 5 hours!

Congrats and welcome to next game's loss to UK Wildcats.
Would you like to make a small wager on this game? :confused3

Remember this?

LAHAINA, Hawaii - A week ago, one might have considered this a trip for UConn to merely survive.

The Maui Invitational wasn't supposed to be a springboard to national prominence, Hawaii wasn't necessarily supposed to be Kemba Walker's personal playground and, put simply, the Huskies weren't supposed to do what they did over the last three days.

But a nation's eyes have been opened to the offensive brilliance Walker, who scored baskets as if he was casually chucking stones in the Pacific Ocean. And all else followed.

The unranked Huskies on Wednesday streamrolled No.8 Kentucky in the Maui Invitational championship game, 84-67, before a wild crowd of 2,400 at Lahaina Civic Center. It was their second victory over a top-10 team in as many days. And just like that, UConn (5-0) has reclaimed its spot among the nation's elite teams.

"This is not our season," coach Jim Calhoun said. "This is a great step for us. It's letting people know we are Connecticut, we have been Connecticut for the last 20-something years, and we think we have a pretty good basketball team."

Rule #113: Missing even one day on this board will put you so far behind that anything you might want to comment on will already be ancient history.

But since when did I let rules of convention stop me form being the odd man out….

This afternoon DD asked me to play dolls with her. I do from time to time since I want her to have that time with daddy, and let her know she's special, etc, etc. - and everything we do doesn't revolve around my choices. Simple enough. BUT, she knows from past experience that I don't play dolls the "right way" - never have every time we play. Whereas she wants to do the dress-them-up, marry them off, kind of doll play - I'm more of the blow-them-up, rough and tumble kind of doll play. Last time she ran off with GI Joe's guns and ransacked the mall, located under my DD's bed (Barbie does so much more when I play, then when she and DW play :rotfl:). So anyway today, she once again asked me to play with her to which I agreed, but said, "You never really like it when I play. You always want me to, but then get disappointed when I play weird."

TODAY... she said, "But daddy, I love it when you play weird!"

THAT just melted my heart............ :cloud9:

Do your daughters like it when you play with them, but not necessarily by their "rules"?

I don’t have daughters so I can’t really add to this conversation, but… I must tell you that your little girl is so sweet that you could just sop her up with a biscuit. This post really made my day. Thanks for sharing.

Nice picture. You did an excellent job of representing our little community here. Wish I was on that island right now, but I still have three more months to wait. Soon though…

Those were some of the best cartoons ever!!

I remember those as well but I’m still drawn to even older Warner Brothers stuff. Now I really love to watch nearly anything Disney, but it was Bugs, Daffy, Wile E, and Yosemite that ruled the TV on Saturday morning when I was a young’en.

I wish that my kids could have grown up watching the Wonderful World of Disney.

I too wish that “Wonderful World of Disney” were available when my boy was younger. That… would have been awesome. I still have fond memories of the entire family gathered ‘round the massive black-n-white console telle’ every Sunday. First: dinner, then: “Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom”, and then: Disney. Ahhhh… Memories…

I was going through some of my VHS collection and came across a few that were taped off MTV (back when it was a Cool channel:lmao:) I have 12 episodes of The Young Ones, it had to be the best show MTV ever had:confused3

OH, I'm so in with this. I will admit that I might not meet each and every criteria...the one that fits me best is that DW thinks I'm a big kid. :thumbsup2

So who am I? Disneyzell (AKA Drew), but DW also posts on this name, so don't let her fool you! :thumbsup2 I'm 40...from New Hampshire. I have two boys, 12 and 8 in addition to my lovely bride.

We have a trip to the World planned for July followed by a 5 day cruise on the new Dream...woohoo!

I am in the middle of a trip report for our Cruise on the Wonder.

Welcome Drew!! You are member # 575! :thumbsup2

:welcome: WELCOME TO THE DIS DAD'S CLUB! :welcome:

You have been added to the DIS Dad's Club list :thumbsup2

Me too - but then, therein lies the beauty of dvd's... we have 5 of the Looney Tunes collections on DVD. There are more than a thousand of those LT cartoons in the what 30 years they were making them, and these 5 collections only have about 200-300 total... but still! My kids are all very familiar with the antics of Bugs, Daffy, Porky, Yosemite Sam, Sylvester & Tweety, Wile E Coyote & the Road Runner, Pepe le Pew and his little kitten friend, and the rest.

We also have the Jetsons, the Flintstones, Scooby Doo, SuperFriends, the Pink Panther, Spiderman and Tom & Jerry - and yes, even the Muppet Show (we have the first three seasons... actually just watched one from season 3 tonight, with Alice Cooper... remember him?). Just because they aren't on tv anymore - or at least not widely available, doesn't mean you can't introduce them to such classic cartoons & shows yourself.

SU decided to sit this one out (or so I tell myself). The rest of the Big East left it all on the court at Madison Square Garden and didn't have anything left for the afterthought that is the NCAA Tournament.

Our collection isn’t quite as extensive as yours, but we certainly have our share of those classics on DVD, and I have introduced Max to nearly all of them. They are actually part of out Disney travel ritual. Flying out of CLT is prohibitively expensive, but the drive is only eight-ish hours so these are the very DVDs that have made the trip bearable for my DS and whoever else happened to be accompanying him on that particular trip. I even went as far as to introduce him to Rocky & Bullwinkle. He now love really awful puns as much as I do (much to his mothers chagrin).

Oh MAN!!! I forgot about Rocky & Bullwinkle! WOW - HOW could I have forgotten about them.... ugh. I love them, and yeah, my boys love 'em too. Fractured Fairy Tales, Peabody & Mr. Sherman, so many classic parts of those cartoons. Love them!

Good stuff all. :thumbsup2

Animation for the kiddies…
Explosions for the teens…
Jokes and social satire for the grownups…

Combinations that are hard to beat.
That’s the way animation used to be done.
That’s old school…
And I resemble that remark. :lmao:
