Yeah, I live about 45 min from Indy, 1.5 hours from Cincy. Usually when I fly somewhere I always check rates for both, and typically Indy is cheaper. On 2 occasions I have actually flown from Indy to Cincy for a layover for cheaper than I could get the direct flight out of Cincy:confused3. Don't really get it, but whatever.

I do the same when checking flights out of Chicago O'Hare and Milwaukee. Again I've seen the same flight connecting through O'Hare from Milwaukee for much less than going direct. :confused3 (Not to mention the overnight parking is cheaper in Milwaukee.) :thumbsup2

i'd really love to fly out of Huntington, WV since it is only 15 minugtes from home. The dates we need are sky high (no pun intended). Columbus and Cincy are both 3 hours away so going to Indy for me would not really help a whole lot.

Once you check kayak and other discounted travel sites, check the airline directly. In the past, I've found the discount sites to be a few bucks more expensive than if I book directly with the airline.

How far are Louisville and Lexington? I had surprisingly good luck with rates out of Louisville, most of which were flights that connected in Cincy, and were cheaper if you got on the plane at Louisville.

Lexington is about 2 hours away and Louisville is 4 I believe

I’m not sure how reasonable a deal this might be, but morning flights from Pittsburgh to MCO in that time frame are running about $260ish per person.

Personally, I feel your pain. For us, flying is virtually impossible. Living south of Charlotte (which US Air controls with a virtual monopoly) flying three people anywhere for less then $1500 just ain’t happening (without intervention from a higher power of some kind). Atlanta is better, but is also 5 to 6 hours away, so we pretty much have no choice but to drive wherever we go.

I am surprised by that...I figured that as big as Charlotte was that you would have a lot of different carriers competing for business

Went to SP today (bring a friend day), we brought our friends from Del, it was great hardly anyone in the park (looked like it was going to rain, but didn't, from our house till we hit Trenton it was raining, took the crapshot and kept going, but it paid off:goodvibes)

Now this might fit into our being picked for rope drop or Grand Marshall problem:confused3 We were able to get my son & his 2 friends into the parade (riding float), now I know WDW dosen;t do it the way they do, BUT it might work.

SP has sign up sheets for the parade, at WDW from everything I've read it is pretty much luck (I think between all the Dads going we can increase our chances greatly:cool1:) since someone at the parks has a say in who it will be, if we all ask someone different that looks like they are a higher up, we might get the right person that can make it happen, I know it's a longshot but it just might work:confused3

Yeah, Wisconsin is pretty awesome, isn't it?

Gotta admit that we came by today to swipe some of your awesome apples, cheeses, sausages and bread. Had a great day apple picking and picnic up in Twin Lakes.

Of course Megan still protests "the Dairy state" claiming that it makes her itchy, but she'll get over it. :rotfl2:

You’d think wouldn’t ya’? :confused3

The problem is that the fine folks on the councils of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County made a deal with the devil as it were. In their desire to be a “World Class City” (their words, not mine) and to attract corporate headquarters into the region, they made a deal with US Air to make Charlotte/Douglas Airport one of their major hubs thus insuring that you could get a direct first class flight from here to nearly anywhere on short notice (which CEOs like to here). To do this US Air was given between 85% & 90% of all the gates at the facility. The two results of this are one: that nearly all people on the ground at CLT at any one time came from some were else that morning and are merely waiting to catch a connection; and two: there is little to no competition from the other carriers. Southwest doesn’t even fly into the region at all and the few other carriers that do have only a couple of flights a day leaving here bound for their individual hubs. For the locals (that ain’t wealthy) it’s a huge pain in the... :headache:

Grumpy Old Men taking a beating:eek:

Every player on your team had a bad or just OK week. Nothing you can really do about that. Besides, Taxidermy Tech has been playing together since the '40s. They have the experience. :thumbsup2

Interesting first Sunday in the DIS Dads Fantasy Football League. There are still two NFL games tomorrow, but right now, Jasmine's Necklace and the Small World Singers are really taking their opponents to the woodshed. :woohoo:

By the way, the logo for the Small World Singers is Ogie Oglethorpe from Slapshot. What that has to do with Small World, I have no idea. :confused3

Some games are still up for grabs and Monday night will be key.

Good luck,
