Hey guys,

We got back late on Monday night and had a blast. It was a short trip but well worth it.

It was a little different having our van with us. Being able to go out and eat and drive to the parks made it a lot easier to get around on a short trip.

Over all a great trip and a ton of fun. I actually really enjoyed driving and we will try it again. I think next time we may stop in a few places and actually see some of the places we drove past going 80 MPH.....oops sorry FED I mean 70 MPH. :lmao:

Welcome back glad to hear you had a good drive, we are about to embark on out first driving adventure as well. Looking forward to it.

I've only driven, and having the car was great. Strangers asking where we found Chik-fil-a was funny to me. From the ST.L to WDW it's about 15 1/2 hours. Generally, we do a Pseudo-commando style. Leave at 11 p.m. and I drive while the kiddos sleep. Then around 6 or 7 am, we switch drivers. And while we don't drive straight to the parks, but we drive straight there, stay someplace about an hour away, then get there to have a full day at the parks. Having the car is nice, plus the DW doesn't like to fly. Finally, now that we're a family of 6, Flying isn't really going to be economical. Still, though, the DW saved us about an hour the way she drives. :scared1:

Hey guys,

I would love to quote a bunch of stuff but ...

CRUD....

The drive down and back were pretty awesome. The mountains were amazing, we drove I79 / I77 / I26 / I95. I never expected it would be as easy and enjoyable ride. The rest areas and welcome centers were great. We stayed in Statesville NC on the way down and Charlotte NC on the way back up.

Welcome back Daddy-O! Glad you guys had a great time. And I'm also glad to see you're discovering the joy of road trips! :thumbsup2

Of course, I say that as we're flying down to WDW next week.

I used my 1,000th post to say some similar things. But I believe, sir, that you have put it so much better than I did. "You use your tonge prettier than..." (the rest of that quote is not family friendly, so if anyone isn't familiar with it, you'll have to Google it to get the rest.)

On a related note - the card that DS3 got me for Father's Day was one of those talking cards with a little speaker in it. It was a Transformers card, and whenever I opened it, Optimus Prime goes on and on about how great of a father I am and how the Universe needs more father's like me. For some reason, this went to my head and DW had to take the card away because I was opening it too much. :thumbsup2

Thanks, Barry. I wonder where I got the idea to use my 1,000 post to reflect on the Dads Club? :confused3

Ahhh...Blazing Saddles...

That card sounds awesome. I must demand this card next Father's Day.

Well I guess I'll have a job for aleast the next 6 months:goodvibes We had inventory today:scared1: Without knowing the number they were looking for and a outside company doing it, I came within less then $300 short in a 6 month period:cool1: They were looking for over 100K , Boss said our number was almost unherd of:banana: Guess that kinda makes us Golden:confused3

:woohoo::cool1: Congrats!

Of course, I'm sitting in Iraq right now, so why would you listen to anything I say---oh, and of course, I HATE sitting behind a desk all the time..HATE HATE HATE HATE it.....(which is why I'm still on the SWAT Team)..

Desk jobs aren't good for guys like you and me:thumbsup2

Dude, don't hate on the desk job folk. I don't want you going out and giving the impression that people like me who sit behind a desk are lazy, out-of-shape slobs who shirk their duties to post on the DIS boards all day and--

Oh.

:headache:

Why haven't I discovered this thread before? Thanks to the podcast this week. I'm a Disney Dad and that's just a fact. Glad to see there are others out there. And I'm happy to join the club.

Did someone say fart?
The entire text of an email sent by yours truly on Wednesday to two co-workers, after they took just a little too much glee in pointing out a grammatical error I had made:
"I Faaaaaart in your general direction."

True Story.

Thanks, Barry. I wonder where I got the idea to use my 1,000 post to reflect on the Dads Club? :confused3
I stole your pins-in-the-map thing. Lets call it even.

Ok, I can't get them out here...what do they say?

The short version of the Podcast is:

1. Pete (WebmasterPete) thinks the thread is great because...

2. DISboards users skew heavily to the female (75% to 25%) so...

3. It's nice that guys who really like/are mildly obsessed with/are raving lunatics for Disney have a place to be supported in their leanings by similarly inclined guys, and he wondered if...

4. It's tough for heterosexual guys to negotiate the world liking Disney as much as the DISDads seem to.

He failed to mention the fart jokes.

I don't like the fact that they took our Dis Dads Club and turned it into a "straight/gay" talk show. But since they did
No it is not harder to be a straight guy and love Disney
I think they missed the boat with their perception of the club.To me this club has nothing to do with Straight/Gay so I cant figure out why they even went there. What they should have talked about is that there are hundreds of "fathers" hence the tag "Dad",that have a love for "Walts Dream". We would like to keep Walts dream of a family place alive.
There are many other things about our DDC that they could have touched base on.
Like how a diverse group of Dads can get together and discuss Disney without being ashamed of it.
Like how a bunch of dads can get together and give to those who are less fortunate( KTTW).
Like how in this day and age the are Dads out there that still try to install family values in their kids.

I could go on and on about things they could have touched base on othere then going where they did.I dont know how many of you agree with me but I am sure there is many!!!!
I think this podcast may require a response from the Dads that feel the same way I do.I you feel the sameway about the podcast let ban together and let them know!!!

Gay/Straight?? THat never even occurred to me as a potential dividing line for a man to enjoy Disney. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Truthfully, I enjoy it because I enjoy it. My wife loves Disney too so that is something we have in common. I also enjoy seeing my kids' reaction to Disney and my memories of their first trip are very special to me. Does that make me less of a man?

I also enjoy football, baseball, ice hockey, drinking a beer, Blazing Saddles, girls with large chests, Fantasy sports, and video games. Sue me.

To be fair, they did mention the DisDads' fundraising for GKTW right up front. It seems to me that Pete got caught up in the introductory stuff in the first few posts - the stuff about what makes us DisDads and the like - and didn't really get into the content of the thread itself (which, to be fair, is already at 132 pages and nearly 2000 posts - in VOLUME FIVE). What's really too bad is that he apparently didn't read Captain_Oblivious' 1000th post before they went to air. That post, as much as anything else, is really what the Dis Dads Club is all about.

What do you say Mark - would you mind if I quoted your 1000th post in the thread on the DisUnplugged board about the show that mentioned the DDC?

I'm with you 100% (though I think you meant "BAND together" and not "BAN" together. lol
