Sounds like a plan to me. Mine will be in college in two years so I can't wait to go to Food and Wine which is impossible now because of school. Thoughts and prayers to your wife.

Well, 2nd trip to the Dr./ER for us within the week. Saturday, DS took a cleat to the arm as he was playing goal for his soccer team. Kid came in cleats up and DS had possession of the ball while laying on the ground. Dr. decided not to Xray as the pain and swelling were lessening and he was able to move the arm more. DS's father was not happy about the situation on the field. Luckily it was the so called "non-competitive" Y league. Had it been travel soccer I'm sure there would have been a red card issued; you just don't do that crap when the goalie has the ball.

Today, the same DS takes a line shot off of his glove thumb while playing shortstop. Can't even bend the thumb to put his glove back on, and it immediately swells. XRays come back negative but are being passed on to the radiologist in the AM for the final report. Lots of pain and swelling on this one, and he can't bend the thumb. At least he can still play soccer this weekend b/c baseball is out for a couple of weeks.

By the way, if you guys are still interested in giving a wedgie and locking someone in a locker, I can help with the locker We have 4 side by side that have been, um, "worked on" by the kids over the years that could easily hold an adult

Billy, no you do not do that sort of thing. I was a Striker in College and in the old USISL....that kinda of stuff got you either a) Punched in the face and/or b) sent off with a suspension...plus, it's just not cool

I'm now on deployment countdown...18 days....

Fed my 2 year old started throwing up tonight. I am reworking my schedule to stay home with her. I look forward to the time together but I sure wish it wasn't because she is sick.

As a relative newbie to the DDC, I still go out and hunt through the Dis, and it always "take your kids out of school", or "credit cards" or "Refillable Mugs", etc. It's a rough world out there, but I'm trying to represent as best as I can! But I always have to come back here for some sanity...

Thanks to everyone who lifted up the family from DS's soccer team in prayer over their loss. I plan to go by and see them this evening. Wanted to get there sooner, but some ill timed text messages made me want to give them some time to get through things first.

i didnt think nothing of it, we still eat!! its looking like this maybe a hard visit. her eye dr. isnt saying much but why would you see a plastic sergun if you werent going to need one. if it is the case, they can do the procedure while your awake if you want.(she wants to be out, cant blame her) and in two weeks your healed enough to get your new eye. its a total of 6 weeks from start to completely healed for most people. we are going to be making several trips to wills and if she has an over night stay, ill be staying at a hotel somewere close by to wills.

Will be lifting your wife up in prayers. Hope all goes smoothly and if there is no other solution but surgery, that God will give the Doctor's wisdom and a steady hand for the surgery to be a overwhelming success.

Some without power, but nothing major here. We were supposed to have United Soccer tournament that weekend and the fields looked more like swimming pools. It is was a revenue loss for the youth soccer association, but no permanent damage and no deaths in our area. Nashville got hit really hard from the TV reports, which is 2 hours south from us.

Tough break on the soccer games. We had some rain during our State Cup tournament last weekend, but not enough to cause any problems. I know about the swimming pool fields though; a couple years ago our final game was played on a field that was about half under water. After the players got soaked, they quit worrying about it, but it was still hard to make decent passes...lol

My niece lives in Nashville. She was able to get to work after all the rain, but she works on like the 7th floor of her building, and she said everywhere she could see out her window looked like a lake.

Glad your DS is okay. My youngest has played goalie a few times and taken some beatings from players who didn't check up in time. Luckily nothing hurt though, other than some bumps and bruises. Those red cards are a pretty good deterrent in the club leagues.

Heading to Charleston tomorrow to help DS20 pack up for summer vacation. Hard to believe he will be a college senior next year. Spending the night and heading back home Saturday. Going by parent's home on the way back to visit my Mom for Mother's Day. Will try to catch up on everything here when I get back home.

Just popping in and actually piping in today too. Wow - what a week it has been. It's been crazy busy on my end, and not much time to post a whole lot. But I see that around here it's been pretty full of sickness and other stuff as well. I can't go back and comment on everything - so just know that I'm praying for those that are sick, or have sick kids, or have some serious concerns going on within the family right now.

And yes - it is nice to have a place here on the boards that is pretty much argument free - and completely off-topic in a great, rambling sort of way.

This has been a crazy week. I've been up to my eyeballs in fatality cases. And, suprise, surprise, just this morning found out that for once, my client is actually going to listen to my considered legal advice instead of just doing what they thought "felt right."

I tell you, this thread, and thinking about our Disney trip planning, has been a refuge for me after spending hours looking at construction fatality evidence and listening to witnesses all try to blame someone else for a guy falling through a hole in a roof to his death.

Good thoughts and prayers continue to flow for all in need of them around here. My soccer career ended early - around 5th grade, if I remember right - because of concussions. I played goalie. I liked to dare offensive players to come closer and closer, and then dive on the ball when they drew their leg back to shoot. I was a big kid, so I didn't mind so much getting kicked in the side or back or arm. But I picked up a couple of concussions from getting kicked in the head. Then I gave one to myself by diving into the four-inch-thick sidebar of the goal (I'd let myself get too deep). And that was the end of competitive soccer for me.

Last year I brought another Dad and his daughter with us on our trip to Disney. During the trip the girls (8yo and 10yo) decided to dub me the honorary title of "Big Fun Brain". Yes, they came up with this badge of honor.

I'm finally back! Wow... there were a lot of pages to read through here to get updated. First off... Prayers all around for the dads this week. Lot of physical healing and comfort needed in this group.

Secondly... I learned to drive stick in a dune buggy on the back hills of Ohio. My dad made this thing out of a 73 VW Beetle and oil well casing. Had big ol' Mickey Thompsons in the back and John Deere tractor tires in the front. There were some fun times in that thing! Although my first REAL car that had a stick was a 73 Mustang 4 cylinder.

So our 8 days in WDW have gone by and I have to admit that I have mixed emotions about this trip. It was certainly different than the previous 2 trips we have had with DD around. You may have seen a few posts on FB about the trip. Right now I've got the post-trip blues... which I knew would come around... but this time it's different. There's this strange side of me that almost wishes we hadn't taken the trip But I'm sure this is just a passing emotion... because it's just not right! Although I have been playing around and saying I'm not doing a TR, I plan to do one anyway. There are some lessons learned that I need to pass along. Plus... there were a few really good moments, too.

All right... gotta get caught up at work now. I'll check back in later tonight.
