If by sinister forces you mean idiots that pretend to know more then they actually do...then yes we are under attack! I sometimes spend more time cleaning up the aftermath of the nonsense that comes out of peoples mouths then I do anything else. Common sense and good reasoning are becoming harder and harder to find. Okay I am done back to our regularly scheduled programing.....:cool1::cool1:
dont look now kevin, but someone has defaced your signature!!!! theres an eagle head on it!!!:lmao:

Well... it may take a while to start it. Can't fight the bummed feeling... not feeling much like writing a TR.

Welcome back. Sorry to hear the trip was not as magical as you hoped. I think I speak for the rest of us and if not a full TR we would like to hear the good, bad and the ugly.

Team meetings...

Well here where I work we usually have a Team meeting every Thursday at 2pm...to basically keep our Manager aprised of our various projects.

For various reasons...conflicting meetings...Dr. Appts...travel...our meetings have been canceled 4 weeks in a row. So yesterday the boss opens the meeting by saying, "So what have you guys been doing for the last Month." after about 2 seconds of silence I said, "Waiting for Directions."

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

the whole room exploded. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Awesome. We have a "project status" meeting every other week, but unfortunately the person who runs that one does not have a detectable sense of humor.

So today began the latest and greatest in "project status" meetings. This one became my 6th "project status" meeting this week. It was only scheduled to run a half hour... but nope, an hour and 15 later... ugh. I absolutely hate these meetings. Not only do I have to have one with my boss each week, I also "get to" participate in 5 others each week since I technically cover 2 different regions - both the midwest/northeast and the south (so that's 2 more); then there's a Credit Team specific one of which I'm a part (4); as well as the "Loan Pipeline" one (5) that each team participates in facilitiated by the company president; and now this new one with the Loan Servicing team (6). Woo hoo - 6 time-killers every week - with a 7th every other Friday. That's our Credit Committee where we actually discuss and approve loan packages. OH BOY. 6-8+ hours per week just spent in update meetings - a whole day basically wasted. Aren't you all just jealous?!? :confused3 I mean really... come on, you know you are.

Luckily, mine does. So much so that she has begun keeping a running tally of the number of meetings that I've brought to a screeching end with a mildly offensive joke or personal anecdote. :thumbsup2

I feel your pain, got my hand slapped this week for suggesting that if we canceled 3 or 4 of our weekly planning meetings we might actually have time to implement some of these great ideas we're always talking about. I have 3 two hour meetings a week where the only reason I am there is to listen for projects that might generate calls for my call center. In 2 years there has only been one project that affected us, and they told me about it 2 months before it was ever brought up in a meeting.

Oh well, it's only 2 hours until my Friday "in another building" meeting. My DS's Godfather is an executive in another building on our corp campus. I have a weekly collaboration meeting in his office from 3:30 till 5:00, which lasts about 10 minutes...LET THE WEEKEND BEGIN!!!!:banana:

Meetings: None of us are as dumb as all of us:lmao:

It could very well be that the only reason for your existence is to serve as a warning to others.

Did I tell you guys I hate meetings??

Yet another thing we all seem to have in common. I've lost count of the number of times I've come out of a 2-hour meeting only to think, "We didn't decide anything in there that couldn't have been handled over the phone in 5 minutes." We need to get some whoopee cushions in there or something. :thumbsup2

Keep that up, and you won't be invited to any more! :thumbsup2

I always liked Mediocrity: It takes a lot less time, and most people won't notice the difference until it's too late.

Anybody else "the new guy" at work???:confused3

Don't get me wrong...I've been with Siemens for 15 years...10 of those in my current job in R&D.

But most of the guys I work with that have the same Job Description started working for Texas Instruments back in the 70's in their R&D for PLC's...then Siemens bought out that segment of TI in the early 90's.

Just about every guy I work with has 25+ year...at least 20...I'm about 5 years away from being the "old" guy cause everyone is that close to retiring...

Talk about Job security...someone will have to be around to sustain all this stuff for years to come...(I hope that someone is me.)

Barry, I may plagiarize your tactic if you don't mind:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:lmao::lmao:

I don't mind a bit. In fact, any member of the DDC is free to utilize this tactic. However, I can't be held responsible for any "unemployment" that result from it's misuse.

pirate: I boycotted 2 of them fairly regularly several months back and called in from my desk on the conference number for the out of office folks. After weeks, the boss finally got the message that all of us sitting together in the conference room was an absolute waste of time - and ever since, at least 2 hours per week are no longer face to face around the conference table. :cool2: Apparently he'd never really heard of the term multi-tasking, which I couldn't do effectively in the CR! But at my desk, oh yeah, I get a lot of stuff done that way while "listening", even if part of it is checking out the DIS or FB during those fun meetings. :rotfl: They're still such a waste of time though. I could be so much more productive without meetings constantly popping up.

AND WOW... since I first posted about my meeting ordeals, what, an hour ago... I just got news of an entirely NEW monthly update meeting that one of the SVP's wants :eek: and a slew of appointment setting emails to block out the time. Keep it up and Mondays will now be a solid meeting from arrival to departure every week. :headache:

We have huddles four days a week at work. :sad2: I wish I was making this up. It was originally designed to get the group together to discuss any problems that have been encountered or to pass out information pertaining to the company. It has resorted to talking about a few select peoples problems both personally or work related. I typically walk out in the middle of these meetings for a "phone call" so that I can get back to work.

There is an upside though. We also have Friday afternoon meetings. Those are the best. A few adult beverages and one handed wiffleball. Those meetings I do not mind so much!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
