Happy Mother’s Day to all out there.

Today is a little weird because this is the first Mother’s Day without DD’s mom who passed away in January. I really don’t know how to handle it. We did got some flowers to remember her. Everyone give your mom and the mothers of your children a giant hug from us.

We've done that for years. But this year we couldn't, since our eldest has been away at a campout this weekend. This was the induction campout into the Scout's National Honor Society - the O.A. or Order of the Arrow. He'll be home around 1 today, but DW still doesn't want to go "out" - but has requested pick-up from the new Panda Express that just opened up here in our town last month. So we'll have her choice at home tonight. Kind of a mixed up year, but she's cool with it. The younger two have made her feel quite special today.

Wow, I'm surprised they didn't change that. Our local council changed the O.A. induction to next weekend so as not to interfere with Mothers Day this year. Its great that that he will be home early though. Do I remember reading from an earlier post that he is being inducted into the O.A. this weekend? If so congratulations, this is a great achievement and honor, I can imagine y'all are very proud of him. :goodvibes

Yeah, no change in our council. As they explained to us (all of the parents of those elected) a couple of weeks back... just do Mother's Day early or a little later - she'll be very proud of her son.

But then, of course, we also leave for the week-long Summer Camp each year on Father's Day... so there you go. Both special days get spent doing Scout stuff. I'll be with my boys heading to camp, but my daughter will be left behind at home. So, Father's Day gets done early in our house each year, and this year Mother's Day was a bit delayed.

cj I wish I had some sage advice for you but all I can think of is to have fun with your DD and keep giving her big hugs all day.

We are fortunate on summer camp, DS troop is going in the middle of July. Well, I don't know about fortunate, they are going to West Texas in the middle of July, so we will see how they handle the heat. Summer camp is new to us, DS is 11 and just earned his Arrow of Light 3 months ago and crossed over into Boy Scouts. This is going to be the first time he has gone this far away and this long (9 days) with out one of us with him. Where they will be will be about 20 miles from the nearest cell signal so my DW can't just "call" the Scoutmaster to check on him (I'm sure the Scoutmasters are happy about this). Think I'm gonna have my hands full keeping her soothed until he returns. If this ones bad, I might have to arrange to take that week off in the future so I can go with DS's Troop and miss out on DW climbing the walls!!! :rotfl:

cj, I can't offer you any real words of wisdom either, but just keep doing the best you can with your DD, and remind her how much she's loved  and how special she is to you

Yeesh. When it rains, it pours.
I'm three doses into my antibiotic, and Mrs. AJRitz just got back from urgent care with The Bug, whose strep test came back positive.

Who's up next?

Geez Aaron...if it wasnt for bad luck you'd have no luck at all! Hope things turn around soon and everyone is better!:wizard:

Seems like the streak of bad luck is continuing its move. We found out tonight that our trip to WDW this June has gone from 9 people down to 4 due to upcoming surgeries for one person and finance reasons for the rest of those backing out.

:bored:

Of course, the team we played was the top team in the league and we got drubbed (as we have all year)

I hear ya. We're 0-7 in U8G soccer this year. Last season, we lost 2 games all year. Several players moved up to next age division and we have a young team.

That is a big hit Steve...sorry to hear that several in your party are not going to get to go!

My wife just got over strep, and I'm taking my DD3 to the doctor tomorrow with a sore throat complaint.

I just hope that we can get everyone healthy in time for the Disney trip. Not much time left.

Hey fellas. My classes are over, so I get a couple of weeks of rest before we leave out for our trip. :thumbsup2

It loos like I've missed a lot. Especially since I missed the closing of DDC3. :confused3 How did THAT happen so fast?

The kiddos are really beginning to get excited. We're T-minus 11 days 19 hours, 51 minutes, and some odd seconds till we leave!:banana::banana:

well 81 hrs in the books this week!:sad2:I am starting to pay for my two months off during te winter. These long work weeks are really messing with my Dis time .Have to go back and read what I missed.

Yeah, the surgeries are a bummer and definitely something that can't be planned. For the financial mess, it's not that unexpected things came up, but just that the person having the surgeries wouldn't be able to go so that ruled out the free / assisted ride for the others. Not to mention that these are the same people who eat out almost every meal 7 days a week and who picked up one (maybe two) laptops, two cell phones, two high-end digital cameras, two Kindle's, one Nook, an i-Touch... all purchased in about a one year time span.

I guess as both a DVC and DisDad member I can't understand how you can begin talking about and planning a trip a year out and then be 45 days from leaving and still not have any idea what park you'll be visiting or have any ADRs for your stay. I guess we're a different breed of DIS'er? :confused3

Sorry for the rant. Back to your normally scheduled program.

Hurdle #1 cleared...DW has Broken. :thumbsup2

Now Hurdle #2 breaking the Bro. He older than me and not a Disney Person...not to mention has was unemployed for about 2 years...but became employeed at the begining of this year...good news here though...his DW really wants to go back as my Niece is the perfect age for all that Princess cr...umm...stuff. Good new here is he's intrigued...probably because he knows DW want to go back. :cool1:

Bro will need some Financial assistance from...

Hurdle #3...My Dad...aka primary financer. This will all be a matter of presentation. He took us all down in 2006...but we were in an Offsite House...about 1/3 to 1/2 the cost I've calculated for this trip...but IF I can show him how much "Free" Food he will be getting...he just might bight....pun intended. :rolleyes1

DW's family flying in from NY this morning and we're off to Orlando at the crack of dawn tomorrow. DD2 sounded a bit sick-ish this morning, hopefully it doesn't develop into anything, we'll have to keep an eye on her. If health allows, we'll be at MK on Wednesday, then Sea World on Friday, with a recovery / hangover day in between.

Seems like you've got a few more to go. Hope you stretched first; wouldn't want you to pull a hammie!

Better keep DD2 away from the Disboards. Seems like all sorts of bad things are being passed around here.:sick:
