DIS Dads The Dis Dad's Club III

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

And I just got a bound to be fun new DVD from the Imagineers all about the building of, and opening of the MK. They first released one on DL a couple of years ago which was excellent - all kinds of rare footage, interviews, etc... and now they have the WDW version. Can't wait to watch it.

I think we should just start referring to your private collection as the Dis Dad's archives.

Okay, so how's this for a Saturday:

Got a great 6 miles in this morning and got the grass cut right after lunch. Then, DW and DD go one way and DS and I go another (dance competition and a soccer game in different towns). So, we're texting back and forth about the soccer score and DW says "wouldn't it be great if we were at Disney now?" I say "yes, and the score is 3-1 at the half." Well, both events end within 2 minutes of each other and we agree to meet in the middle for supper as a family instead of each group doing their own thing for supper. Nothing else was mentioned about Disney; we were enjoying each others company and talking about the game and dance competition. We finish supper and drive home (about 30 minutes) and I find myself in DS bedroom working on some shelves. DW comes in the room with the "sheepish grin" on her face (ya'll know this smile; it's the I've just done something smile). She proceeds to tell me that she has been pricing Disney vacations for a few days over spring break. I say "oh yeah, how much?" She tells me the cost (surprisingly low for 4 nights on property, or so I thought; we already have annual passes). Well, long story short, WE'RE THERE, APRIL 4TH THRU 8TH. Crazy stuff, but after thinking about what we had originally planned, the $$ involved was less going to Disney than our original plans, so we said what the heck.

Yeah, it's short notice and yeah, crowds will suck, and yeah, I know a TR will be expected, but geez, why pass it up?? :woohoo:

So, everyone's pumped at our house, and that's a good thing.

Great news. A Disney trip you don't have to wait a few months for, (priceless).

She has informed me that her DIS account - or at least her membership in the Moms Club - may be short lived. She's already "perturbed" at some of the comments - mostly about using leashes on kids. She's trying to be civil, but, well, you know.

Hmmm that's new, a large group of women can't all get along.:lmao::lmao::lmao:

OK, Either you guys need to slow down or I need to stop working so much. It's just getting too hard to keep up with the ten or so pages a day on this thread in addition to FreezinRafiki's Trip Report, GoHerd's Trip report, DisneyDaddy-O's Trip report, Middlepat's Trip Report, Emma's Dad's Trip Report (OK, well maybe that one is not as hard to keep up with. pirate:pirate:pirate:)

Guess I better keep the food on the table though. I like to eat even more than I like to Dis. I'll just try to keep up... :sad2:

At this rate we are 3 days away from IV.

Woo hoo! Disney park hours for our trip are out. TGM got his most-crowded parks info for our trip week out late last night. And this morning, I got my ADR requests Emailed in to the Poly IPO. I still need to call them with credit card info, but this trip is feeling remarkably imminent for still being six months away!

I just clicked on the little "Blue" Calendar Icon...turns "Green" once you mouse over it...I was able to get all the way to September 30...shows time for that plus 9 days after.

untitled.jpg

i dont get the calendar...just a box with todays date in...i'm wondering if its something to do with being in the uk and that it might have some kind of block on it.

calendars

just got this link sent me and anyone of the dads going in October should find it useful :thumbsup2

http://www.disneytravelagents.com/S.../pdf/ParkHours/WDW_Operating_Calendar_Oct.pdf

OK, that's weird. That calendar lists a MNSSHP on Friday, October 1st. But it doesn't list any other MNSSHP for the entire rest of the month. It does show
the Magic Kingdom closing at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 8th, but no mention of MNSSHP (like there is on the 1st).

Guess I'll just have to cross my fingers that they'll update those MNSSHP dates soon.

:woohoo::dancer: Awesome!! There's not time for planning! You better get cracking!

I contacted someone I call a true Dis friend today, to see if I would be able to pass some info to my fellow Dads that in someway will benifit everyone, she said it is OK. She has a list of tips & facts that I consider better then any book. Some might no longer exist but WDW changes stuff all the time I would say the list is about 95% true.

Anyone who wants the list please PM her name Dis Board is Dcanoli, her name is Deb, I assured her that any Dis Dads will identify themself as a Dis Dad & give there member# and will be polite and curtious, you can use my name if you want to. Please do not clog up her thread asking for the list (alot of people complian about that)

IMO this is a worthwhile ventue, I have learned much from this list and have had many memerible experiances from it.

Fellow Dads go for it! You might learn something:confused3

Be sure to include your email address, when asking for the list.

Oh yeah... going to do this after this post is done. Thanks for the info! :thumbsup2

 Eh... I better get started on the new DDC4 thread...

I decided to fool around on the VistaPrint site a little and I came up with a quick logo that required no art talent at all. T-shirts seem to run less than $8 and hats for around $14. It's a few dollars more for printing on the back of the shirt, in addition to the front, so we could even add a comment about giving up our seat on the bus! :lmao: I don't know how much shipping is. I used a template for printing on the left chest of the shirt but I think a larger logo can be used across the entire shirt, too. It's pretty easy to work with this site and change things around. They also have around 500 pieces of artwork available for logos. Fonts and colors can be easily changed and saved. Comments would be appreciated since it seems like we have a bunch of guys thinking about shirts or hats for upcoming trips. Sorry, I don't have the software or talents to design a souped up minivan logo! :sad2:

I can't seem to make the photos any bigger. Oh well. The front says:
The DIS DAD's Club Loyal inhabitants of the MAN ROOM with the web site below that.
The back says: The DIS DAD's CLUB MAN LAW and the man law about the bus under that.

Oh yeah, apparently there's a whole multi-page thread about such a topic. I read through part of it, and many of the posters in that one seemed quite holier than thou and VERY opinionated on both sides of their "argument" - very much like the bus thread was. Nasty stuff. I don't venture onto the "Families" forum very often and got sidetracked looking at that the other night when I was curious about the DMC but I got out of there pretty quick.
What's wrong with live & let live. If your kids needs a leash? Ok. If my kid gets 3rds on soda and you're a water-only family? Ok.
Alas, i'm probably wrong.

Well, I finally got the photo to show up but now it's too small to be of any use! Back to the drawing board!

So, i would think the logo on the front, and then a few "man laws" on the back. As an example, "If the bus is full, stand." and "if the kids are awake, I'm not texting"
But my family wouldn't let me wear the same DISDad's t-shirt every day. So maybe a backpack w/ just the logo would be better for me?:confused3

I'm working on the back now. Of course, the photo isn't working right for me! :lmao:

Hey, it's working in my original post! I only added one Man Law to the back but more can be added.

Can you add to the Man's Rule: Any man caught wearing a blue-tooth ear piece will be stoned and thrown from the park.

Awesome! Gotta love a spontaneous Disney trip! :thumbsup2

I've been to the one in Myrtle Beach 3 or 4 times. If they would allow franchises I would put everything on the line for one. It is hilarious going in there because all the kids want to do is pick out a basic car, build it, and get out so they can play with it. The dads will not let the kids leave: "let's look at the custom rims", "hey look at these blowers", "we need to put a chrome exhaust on it". The chassis are ingenious, there are little clips on them to add the accessories but certain ones have electrical contacts so for example, in the place where you would clip side rails on a truck, or side mounted exhaust on the cars you can also clip on a light bar with LEDs so it looks like there is neon under the car. For about $20 bucks you can get a remote control chassis instead of the normal rolling one.

I'm heading out to Curious George Live on Stage in a few minutes but when I get back tonight I'll post some pics of my....I mean my son's creations.

Sounds cool. I'd love to see what you (both) came up with.

A Dis Mom's thread? Sounds like trouble to me. They shoulda started a Dis Dad's Wives Club. :rotfl:

:lmao: That might just turn into a "Can you believe I married this dope?" thread. :rotfl2:

im back from watching 8 hours of dd dance comp.:headache: everything she comp. in they got high golds. welcome new dads!! (one more year of dance. that will be 15 years, i served my time!!)

Dave, you have certainly paid your dues! I'm so glad my DD was born with 2 left feet! :rotfl2:

:thumbsup2 I always wonder when I see someone walking around talking, if they are on a blue-tooth, or if they are talking to themself:crazy::scratchin:tiptoe::lmao:
