I just found this thread.
We ( me ) are planning a trip for next August and my 2 dd's (ages 12, 10) think I am going a bit overboard, with it still more than 9 months away.

Count me in.

Dan

You an Earnhardt fan? Welcome to the club... you are member # 383!

:welcome: WELCOME TO THE DIS DAD'S CLUB! :welcome:

You have been added to the DIS Dad's Club list :thumbsup2

Emma's Dad,
Yes, I am a Dale Jr. / NASCAR/ MotoGP racing fan. I never would of guessed that Jr. would have only limited success with Hendrick Motorsports. Someone already had Goofy as a name here on the boards so I added the Jr. and then thought sticking # 88 on the end would be kinda fun.

Number 383, that works for me! FYI, I enjoy Sam Adams and Guiness :) and I can keep the beer at the perfect temp on my deck here in MA. Right now it's 45 degrees.

We had Pig Races at the Corn Maze...Dale Swinehart Jr. never won. Kept getting cut off by Kurt Buschhog. And of course Jimmie Hogson won the Championship. :lmao:

How cool you got "3" "8" "3". :thumbsup2

Trenner,

"Jimmie Hogson won the Championship. "

Looks like that Jimmie Hogson will be quite the pignosticator . :rotfl2:

Hey Pennsylvania Dad's...what do you know about Hershey Park?

The Corn Maze owner's family was talking about going there next summer and invited us.

We were there last summer. It's a nice park, but a different feel than Disney. I'd say it's split between half kiddie rides and half MEGA-ULTIMATE-DEATH coasters. There's not a whole lot in between if you're the kind of guy (like me) who likes the milder thrills at Disney World. They just built a massive waterpark area too. When we were there, it was mid-to-late August and absolutely packed. They don't have fastpasses, either, so we didn't get to do a whole lot. This was on a Saturday--I'm guessing you'd have better luck on a weekday.

You certainly can't go wrong with the chocolate there! :thumbsup2

Since the shipping on 399 beers is likely to be quite pricey I will volunteer to store the beer at my place and anyone on the East coast can pick it up the next time they head down to the parks.

You know that sounds great, but I think mine would be a little more centralized to everyone. You know South Carolina is a perfect location. I could keep the kegs in the garage this time of year. Not too hot and not too cold. Glad I got in before 400. BRING ON THE KEGS.

I have to ask this question, because all of the sudden not sure about our dates. What do you guys think of the Flower and Garden Festival? Are the crowds bad? Even if you guys say it sucks, I have two girls in my life, so I am sure I will have to endure. The good news is at least I can buy BEER in Germany, so away goes the troubles.

Welcome to the club. I was going to ask if you had to remain a Budweiser Fan after the number change or if you could switch beers. The Mad Max Zombie parady commercial that Jr. did was still excellent. I have been a Tony Stewart fan since he entered Nascar, but I prefer Staples to Office Depot, so I guess it's ok.

OK, I'll go for that. normally after about 4 hours of seeing absolutely nothing on Hwy95 I'm ready for a drink!

We were there two years ago for it and loved it. I really didn't notice any bigger crowds than normal and the flower sculptures were amazing. We'll be there starting April 17th and are really looking forward to it.

Maybe lucky number 400 will be from PA and can get us all some Yuengling. It's hard to get it brought to Indiana...

Yuengling it is then. Because some of you may have a tough time getting it, I will just pick it up and store it here. On a Hershey Park trip, some of you can pick yours up.

And here I was hoping that #400 will be a Canadian. That way we can get some Molsons or Labatts. (I'm a Canadian transplant if you couldn't tell).

Oh in case anyone hasn't noticed.... we leave Tomorrow!!!

The bus is pulling out of the station tomorrow at noon (or so).

See y'all on the road or on the return.

I'll get a TR up over the 4 months after we get back. (That's the right timeline isn't it Trennr?) :lmao:

4-7 months???? Don's the real expert there. :lmao:

Have a Magical (and safe) Trip!

Have a awesome trip!!!

I'll give you 6 months for the TR! Maybe we can have the longest TR contest for the DIS Dad's Club!

Enjoy.

Can't help you short term but maybe this will help long term: We took DS for the first time just before he turned 3, he loved it and still talks about things that happened on that trip a year and a half later (so much for everyone who told us he was too young to go). The best part is that since he wasn't 3 yet he was free to get in, ate for free at buffets and family style restaurants, ate off our plates at regular service restaurants, and was really too young to realize he wanted anything from the gift shops.

So with all the money you would save she'd be crazy not to bump up the next trip by a year and a half.

We took our son on his first trip to the World when he was 2.5 years old back in 2005 since he was free to get in. I second the free buffet and parental plate share option. His grandparents sent him with $20 with which he bought his own Sorcerer Mickey spinning light up toy. We took pictures of him picking it out and paying for it and that thing is still around here and working.

His second trip was in 2008 and we're going again next year on our first DVC trip. Good times!

A few more Canadians on here and we can start talking curling:thumbsup2

Curling's a fun sport. No local curling clubs but it's fun to watch on the rare chance it's on the TV.
:thumbsup2

Had another DIS Dad moment the other week. Our church is updating their photo directory since it's been ~4 years since the last one.

Last year, my son held his Mickey Mouse plush and we were listed as "Steve, Nicole, Ben and Mickey Mouse". Everyone knew who our kid was based on that photo... never knew Mickey went to our church.

Well, this year I got a brilliant idea. Some people dress up for their photos but there are always a few families that wear their favorite football team jerseys or something. So I thought... why not mouse ears?

You betcha'! Had our photo taken with the beanies on all three of us. After we looked at the proof we thought, "It sounded good at the time but looks dorky now." <sigh> Oh well, I'm a DIS Dad. People who know us will understand.
:earboy2:

happy birthday mike!! i was just talking to my older brother and he said next year they want to take there kids,(craigs wife and brother) and spouses along w/the grand kids to wdw!! (someones making money!:lmao:) i dont know if it is a suprise or not so dont say anything but i was gonna say how bout your kid brother?????:lmao:

I won't say anything! I don't think he's in this week but I'm not sure. We got this Instant Messaging software at work last week and he hasn't been signed-in all week. I usually hear from him after a Giants game. That would be great if his family gets a surprise trip!
