Got 22in total, spent 6hrs shoveling out the 8 car driveway with 5 cars in it + sidewalks. Snow plow still nowhere in sight (tax payer dollars hard at work). Hope they come soon my boss will have a cow if I call out again tomorrow:eek:

:lmao: i guess you guys in jersey dont pay enough taxs for snow removal.:lmao: i think nj is one of the highest tax states in the us. you dig out all day than 15 hours after the storm the plow comes by and pushes it all back in. :sad2: were lucky, they just moved the boro garage 2 blocks from me, we are one of the first to get dug out.:woohoo: not to mention a boro coun. men moved in up the street.:woohoo: good luck with the plow!!:thumbsup2

Dave I am sorry to hear about what your family is going to have to go through in the upcoming days and weeks with your Brother In Law. Happening at Christmas makes a horrible situation even worse. Also, I could not agree with you more on cancer research funding. As a cancer survivor I can say firsthand that when you are hit with those words it is like the rug is pulled from under you and your whole family. We need to continue to do more research and find a cure.

it just never stops. from the time i was 13, its just one after another. christmas is allways hard, my mom was term. and she was at home for her last christmas and its hard because eveyone knows its the last one. she passed three weeks later. it was a blessing, she suffered. my dad really never knew what hit him. he found out and 2 months later he was gone. :sad2: they tried everything with my brother, kemo, rediation, nuke, and stem cell and nothing worked. my sister survived breast cancer and my other brother made it though skin cancer. but, we keep our heads up and plow on!!:thumbsup2

It was very similar with my grandmother. She was diagnosed in late June, and died Oct 5th, the day after my birthday. That was 18 yrs ago, and every year my birthday is still difficult. I was her primary support person as well, and that morning the nurses called me early to say she was calling my name. I rushed over there, and sat with her for a couple of hours til she was gone. It was a hard summer that year. You and your family are definitely in my prayers Dave.

Snow plow finally came around 10:30pm just got done digging out. Guess I get to go to work tomorrow:sad1: Taxes will most likely go up now.

i see that jan 10th they are going to take the lights off the castle and put a construction wall up in the front portion of the castle. they are starting a 3 month referb. on it.

Wow... that's a fairly long refurb time... sounds like some serious stuff is going to be done to it. :confused3

We had to cancel the kids combined birthday party today due to the snow. The museum that we were going to have it at decided to not open today and we had to reschedule. So, we went to see Princess and the Frog this afternoon. Kids loved it and I have to admit that I liked the music myself.

We went to the mall today also and I have to admit that it was one of the best shopping days of the season. No one was there! The snow kept the shoppers home!

Wow... I wouldn't think the snow would keep southern Ohioans indoors... I thought you guys lived for that stuff?? :lmao:

nope, i think they call it climate change this week. :lmao: by next week it will be an iceage!! i just had my families christmas get together and my brother-in-law finds out he has an agressive type of lymphoma and is going in for his first round of treatment monday. i think they should start spending there time and my money on finding a cure for cancer than screwing around with the weather. i lost my mom when i was 16(ovari. cancer),dad at 17(brain cancer), brother was 44(lymphoma),sister had breast cancer, and another brother skin cancer. its time to find a cure to this frickin thing!!! i think we all have or had someone takin because of it and its time its stops!(i feel better now, thank you.)

Sorry to hear about your losses... both parents by 18? Wow. That would definitely change my outlook on life. We'll keep your BIL in our prayers. A cure is definitely needed... we can clone animals but can't cure cancer? :headache:

I'm still trying to get past the fact that you have an 8 car driveway... :rotfl2::rotfl2: Sounds like a lot of work! We got just a dusting in Va Beach. Was hoping for more.... wanna ship some down for us?

You know you're a DIS Dad when the salt you put on your driveway to melt the snow and ice makes a hidden Mickey:

Awesome! Good find :thumbsup2

No... what's makes you a DIS Dad is the fact that you took the time to:
1.) Recognize the hidden Mickey
2.) Your brain then said "Hey! The DIS Dads would LOVE to see THIS!"
3.) You go inside your warm house to grab your camera...
4.) Run back outside quickly before the snow decides to melt before you lose the magical moment.
5.) Take the picture (A big grin on your face, too... even though you are shivering from taking your gloves off in order to press the button)
6.) Forgo your snow shoveling duties to make sure you download the image to your computer
7.) Upload the photo to imageshack... yeah... I know you opened another Milwaukee's Best while waiting for that to finish....
8.) Post it to the DISboard

Whew... that's a lot of work for a hidden Mickey! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Dave, sorry about the news. Hope your BIL beats this thing!

We did not even get much. Ended up with 4 or 5 inches! These people panic over small amounts i guess

24 inches here in DE! They're saying this is the 2nd biggest snowfall ever in our area. My wife said the shoveling would have gone a lot faster if those guys in the Copenhagen convention were here to help us! :lmao: Maybe it's time the kids started earning their keep...

Now I've got muscles hurting that I didn't even know existed! :rotfl2:

 Here's a thought, we went on our trip one year and arrived on the 4th of Jan if I remember correctly and all of the lights and events were still going on. It was not busy at all, I guess everyone cleared out right after the holidays. With you only being 3 hrs away maybe go on the 2,3,4 of Jan 2010. They probably wont take down the decorations until mid week and you could see it all with no crowds.

Thanks, everyone, for the input. I like the idea of going after new year's...however...the only issue is that Disney won't commit to what day they actually stop lighting the castle up! I called and e-mailed and got two different answers...even sent an e-mail to the DIS podcast - they called and got yet another answer! Jan 2nd ~should~ still be safe - I think I will pitch that idea to my DW. I'm thinking we can call while we're driving up and if they say it won't be lit, we'll just go to DHS instead - that park is confirmed until 1/4....

With Jan 2 falling on a weekend I think you have a better chance, most likely the lights would come on for that lat weekend and end on Sunday Jan 3rd. At least you have the fallback plan of DHS and the Osbourne lights, they are awesome. They are dancing lights now, very cool!

Either way have a grat time. Christmas decorated parks are something really special.:thumbsup2

I'm guessing your wife also said the shoveling would have gone even faster if you would stop reading the DIS Dads Club thread and get out here and pick up a shovel! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Wow - that is pretty. Being a Floridian, I never get to see that stuff! But I hear it's not fun to deal with?! Well, enjoy looking at it at least!

How is she going to know where to put the show if I don't stand back and supervise? :rotfl2:

I love it...though you drop more than a ½ inch of the white stuff around here and people freak out and forget how to drive...I think it's fun to drive in myself....sure hope it sticks around for Christmas. :thumbsup2

Nice pictures! Looks like that driveway needs shoveling! :lmao:

You volunteering? :lmao:
