If you are a member of Triple A you get a discount. We are a member for coach seats plus oversized vehicle (mini van):rotfl: for 2 adults and 1 child roundtrip was 727 and change. You can upgrade to a sleeping car but the cost is up there. It leaves from Lorton Va (about 10 m past DC) and arrives in Sanford Fl. The closer to the date it goes up so if you know early when you are going, you could save some bucks.

Commando: We looked into it once but decided for two people, and using the Magical Express or hiring a towncar service, it was much cheaper to fly. My DW did take a train once from Philly to Norfolk and she thought that was OK.

Kingdom: Have a great time and don't forget to get a Dole Whip Float in the MK! Look for Aloha Isle near Pirates!

Dave: I noticed you were a "green light" when I was on yesterday morning. I was up at my usual time; it doesn't matter if it's a work day; vacation day; holiday; etc. I'm usually up around 4:30.
Hey, the DW is putting up our Christmas Tree! I think this is the earliest it has ever gone up! I can put up my Mickey stocking! :cool1:

Safe trip, Fed! :woohoo:

Well fellas, the next two trips are planned. March 5-12 and December 3-10. Driving both times. We have some DVC points that we need to use up, so in March we are staying one night in an Animal Kingdom's Kidani Village Studio. The rest of the time we'll be at Grandma & Grandpa's. Probably only do the parks on 2 or 3 days though.
In December we are going with an old high school friend and her son. He's the same age as DD and they get along quite well. Plans haven't been fully set yet for this, but we're thinking it will be in a 2 bedroom Savannah View at Animal Kingdom.
Trip counters will be coming soon. And I'd better finish up my current trip report or Don will be all over me for breaking the rule I enforced on him! :thumbsup2

Besides a character - would job would you most like to do at WDW and why?

I would want to work on the parking lot tram. Why - I think it cool, since you would be the 1st in the a.m. and the last at night that people come across. All those smiling faces:cloud9:, the plans for the day in the morning or what people did that day at night. The things they hear must be incredible:goodvibes

MAN LAW I love rope drop!

But gettin them women moving in the morning... There must be some woman law I don't know about. :upsidedow

lol...yeah I can literally wake up 90 minutes after the wife and still be ready before her...on vacation...at a theme park.

Take a shower, put your hair in a ponytail or wear a hat and let's go!

I just lived through it, the hardest part for me is suggesting she starts to get ready because she is in complete denial that she takes a long time.:confused3

Throwing caution to the wind, here is a link to a little video I made in preparation for my girls first trip to Disney. Enjoy, I will probably disable the link in a few days. Enjoy.

That was a great pre-trip video. I made me want to ride Soarin'!

I just stumbled across this thread and it looks great. Disney Commando onboard reporting for duty! My DW gave me the nickname. When we are there I make sure are day is 7am - midnite everyday. Sleeping in late and the pool you can do at home. My DS is 4 and has been there 4 times now, our last trip ended 11/08/09. Our next trip was planned by 11/09 we did not get to everything I wanted to do (DS was tall enough to go on some of the bigger rides, went on GM test track 11 times. Can't deny the little man):cool1:

Welcome to the club and I agree vaction in WDW is no time to rest!!:thumbsup2

It's official. :cool1: My wife and I agreed on going to Orlando the week Of March 29th for my birthday and my son's spring break. We are only doing one day at Disney this time. We wanted to do some of the other things we never do because of Disney like Seaworld, Universal, etc. I'm just happy to be going. I have been suffering from Disney withdrawls for 2 years now!
Fanatic great to hear from you, Iam glad you are getting back to WDW two years is too long.
I can't beleive our STEELERS lost to KC today.:confused3

I assume you mean besides CEO (why?: the pay & benefits of course!)
Hmmm...I would have to say an Imagineer. The things they get to come up and build are out of this world cool.

I see that not only are you a fan of Disney, but of my Pittsburgh Steelers (fan since 1977).

Junland it's good to see more Steler Fans on the board!:thumbsup2

I asked about sitting in the front car on this past trip....Iknew Ethan would get a kick out of being there with the conductor. They said that they were no longer allowing anyone in there. I guess that must be do to the accident.

I spoke with a cast member while I was down there and he said they are going to let people ride up front again but was not sure when it would start.:thumbsup2

In August I was very hesitant to buy an iPhone because I didn't want to be accessible by email 24/7, but my assistant's smart phone was dying so I bought her and I iPhones. Then one thing led to another.

First I found podcasts including the DIS Unplugged and I found an outlet for my passion for Disney that has been with me for 32 of my 41 years. Then that led me to the boards. Then tonight I stumble upon this thread.

I'm sure everyone has the same story about how your passion for Disney makes you feel somewhat like an outcast. Sure, I love betting football, racing cars, my GSXr, but Disney? Was something wrong? What am I reaching for in my childhood that wasn't satisfied?

Well, it doesn't matter now. As I can see, there are ten's of thousands of us out there. I am passionate about my family, career and Disney! Yeah, that's right, I used the love smile!

Now...can someone call my wife and tell her I'm not the only one?:earsboy: And as Walt said "it all started with a iPhone."

You found the right place.:rotfl2:

Hey Guys! Long time lurker....my wife and I share this Login and I'm actually posting on it for the first time! We're going to the World in 3 days man! Can't wait....wish I had an iPhone too....hmmm....Maybe I'll ask Santa Mickey for one while I'm down there....:goodvibes

Have a great trip!!!:yay:

I see their are a lot of guys from Pa & NJ has anyone every done the Autotrain. I'm from NJ and it's like a 20hr drive plus eating, bathroom breaks, getting gas, and sleeping over somewhere it turns into a 2 day trip. Plus when you get there your beat.
The last three trips to WDW we took the train, getting older and the back can't take the drive. Anyway you get to take your car with all your stuff, they feed you dinner & breakfast and you get to sleep.:woohoo: It leaves Va. at 4pm and you get off in Fl. around 9:30 am you are about 35miles from WDW, With your car, rested and ready to go. Does anyone else travel by the train?

I have not done it as an adult but I rode it back in 1974 and it is an awsome childhood memory. We had our big old Oldsmobile wagon down there. My bothers and I love going to the dining car for ice cream sundaes.:thumbsup2

That's an easy one, Monorail Pilot.:woohoo:

Oohhh.... Good question. I'm not sure if this counts in the non-character category, but I'd love to be the guy behind Crush at Turtle Time. I'd love to hear all the questions and try to come up with a good "Turtle-esque" response.

Totally Awesome Dudes.....

I took a few pictures of the new Space Mountain for your enjoyment. The best part is you get to blast asteroids while you are waiting in line. You miss this experience if you fast-pass.

I was leaning towards that one when asked by my friend, but after thinking about it with no passengers allowed up front anymore, figured it would be awesome but no one to talk to. My friend wanted to be Disneys accountant:lmao: I told him he would have had a heart attack by now trying to crunch those kind of numbers.

Besides a character - what job would you most like to do at WDW and why?

Glass blower on Main Street... so I can make things that people can admire and take home with them. I remember the first time I watched a CM blow a piece of art... it was magical.

I would love to be a sweeper on main street. I've been working helpdesk for 18 years and have 17 to go before early retirement. I've already told DW the plan is to go to WDW and take any job where I can talk to people face to face. I'd pick main street just so I could see the look on first timers faces when they get that view of the castle for the first time.

I can't believe someone else is going in the spring on different week then me! In September everyone went like 2 weeks after we got back. We got a chance to tour the AKV rooms in September, we are so excited to stay there in the spring. Do you know if you are doing an actual 2 bedroom or the one bedroom with the adjoining studio in the fall?

Is anyone going to be there between April 17th and 25th?:confused3

Good one:yay:Would be able to keep my beard from what I've heard, I would make Radiator Springs Land baseed on the movie Cars with all the chatacters in it.

Actually, I hear they are making a Cars land at the California Adventure Park next to Disneyland. Not sure when it is suppose to open, but it's a least a few years. We'll be planning our west coast trip as soon as it does!
