Awesome job! It has made me think. My brother found a camera 2 weeks ago that somebody had lost at Golden Corral by crossroads. It was in the parking lot and his wife almost stepped on it. So she went back into the restaurant, and asked if anyone had reported losing a camera and they asked around and everyone said NO. So she left her name and phone number to contact her, and took the camera back to the resort with her. She didn't want someone else just to take it. We went back to Golden Corral 2 nights later, and I was with her, she asked them again about anyone reporting a missing camera, and nobody had. We live in the same town, and I know he brought the camera home with him! Because of what Lollypop did, I am going to call him tomorrow and see if he will bring it up here and we can do some inverstigating, see if we can find the owners of this lost camera. They didn't have any Disney pics on it yet, cause I looked. We are thinking they must have just gotten there, or something.
Lollypop, you truly are an inspiration!

You are amazing. I know you're going to have a ton of great karma coming your way!

I know it's been said before, but I also want to add:

THANK YOU for assuring us that there are still amazing, considerate people in this world who will go above and beyond for a stranger!

I know you weren't seeking praise, but thank you for sharing, as it gives us hope. Especially in contrast to the 'postal' postal worker. Geez louise

With all the good karma I possess, I send to you, with a little bit of pixie dust :) Thanks for keeping the caring magical spirit of Disney alive!

:goodvibes

This is the most amazing story and thread! It has given me chills.

Lollipop's Mum you will be having some pretty HUGE good karma coming your way. You are an AMAZING person! What a wonderful, kind hearted person you are. :flower3:

I think you guys are all awesome for thinking I am awesome. LOL.
I never expected praise like this from strangers! :)
The whole thing (finding the people and you guys on here) have totally lifted my spirits in the past few days!

Oh also - you can all call me 'Liz' rather than Lollipop if you want! lol.
There is a LONG story behind why that is my name, but for some reason being called 'Lollipop' sounds like a stripper name! :)

There's a thread in the DL community board about screen name origins. You should post your story there! It's been fun reading about where everyone's names came from.

And I'm glad this whole thing has lifted your spirits. Have a great day! :goodvibes

Wow Liz (Lollipop's Mom) I just read the whole thread and great job! Nice to know you would go to all that trouble for a complete stranger. I hope if I ever find one I would do something like you did. ;)

Few years back I left my dig cam. in my rental car. Long story short by the time I was able to report it (after I got home from flight) the van was already gone for 14 days. I kept calling and it was never found. :confused3 All I really wanted back was my card. I'm sure one of the car companies employees took it (probably someone like the postal worker you dealt with, I mean seriously? Dig. Cards are really cheap now). I wish someone had done for me what you did for that family. ;)

I did find a website www.ifoundyourcamera.com where people can post pictures from cameras or cards they have found. They have successfully reunited some people with their pictures. If you've lost a camera, or a card, check it out, maybe someone found it. Couldn't hurt.

I take a picture of my name, cel phone, and email address on each of my cards. I also make sure to put my name, etc. in each item I carry (on vacation) just in case. A few years ago it was how Delta got a hold of me about the camera bag I left on the plane on the way to WDW. Luckily the camera wasn't in the bag (they lady on the phone was so happy to hear that!) only extra batteries, cards, etc. but I was very happy to get it back!.:cloud9:

When I get a Photopass Card at DLR or WDW I take a picture with my phone or camera of the back of the card. I usually write my cel phone on it as well.

Speaking of losing things at DLR. Here's a hint for those of you with tickets at DLR. Write your name and phone number (don't write over the numbers or scan code) on your park tickets. I can't tell you how many tickets I have picked up over the years without any information on them. Some of them were 3 day PH. I''ve turned them into GS but who knows if they were every returned. BE SAFE, MARK YOUR TICKETS and TAKE A PICTURE of the back of the card (showing the numbers). Even if it's just a one day ticket you need one to get FP.

I did lose my camera battery on Matterhorn one day. It just fell out of the camera and I didn't notice until I went to take a picture and the camera was dead. The battery compartment was empty! Luckily I had another battery with me so I was able to see the last pix I took to backtrack where I had lost it. Went through the exit of Matterhorn and showed the CM my other battery (small black rectangle) and asked if anyone had found one in the last 1/2 hour. He had it! Yeah! As soon as I got home I printed out labels with my name and phone number and put it on all my batteries. They are pretty expensive. Which reminds me, I have a different camera now and I'm going to put a label on it as soon as I post this with my name and number.

I have also found cameras and phones at DLR. Last phone I found I called "DAD" on the phone and told him I had his kids phone. I was able to meet up with him later in the day (on a school trip) and return his phone. He offered me $5, I refused. I know I could have turned it in (and I would have if I couldn't find him) but a few years ago my DM lost her phone at DLR and didn't notice until the next day. She called DLR and they had it. They mailed it to her but they didn't call her to report they had found it. I think they find so many phones, cameras, etc. that they don't have time to track down the owners. So that's why I did it myself. I figured the owner would get it back faster if I contacted him. And it worked.

Once again, great story! Just another reason I love going on these boards. It's amazing what strangers will do to help other strangers.

You are a wonderful person. How nice of you to take the time to do this. I am sitting her crying and promise I am going to pay it forward. :goodvibes I am sure because of this thread, many people will be paying it forward while thinking of you. Hopefully someone will pay it forward to you so the good wishes, pixie dust, postiive Karma, comes full circle. :thumbsup2

Liz,

Add me to the list of people who think you did an incredibly wonderful thing!:cheer2:

Kristen

Liz, that was incredible. I can't imagine how rewarded you feel for being able to finish this hunt. And the owner, OMG, that family must have been a wreck. Lots of tears.

I sincerely hope your goodwill returns to you!

She just phoned me!
And OMG here is a tearjerker for you....

Their family is being relocated to Korea in June. The first photos were of a big send off type party for the military families. The 2nd photos were her kids very last drumline competitions (something they love and will dearly miss) and then the disneyland trip was their VERY first trip and probably ONLY trip. She just turned 40 and they did it for her 40th birthday as their last family vacation before they are all shipped off to Korea. They did it on a wing and a prayer and could only afford 2 days there.
She has been devastated over the loss of the card. She did report it to ART and their hotel, both of which I contacted and the run around that no one had reported anything.

She was over the moon excited and said she sat in shock when she got my facebook message!
I am so happy! Putting in the mail tomorrow! I feel like super detective or something!

That was really cool what you did and I'm sure they were so thrilled!
You did a good thing, liz.... a very good thing. good on ya.

Oh wow, I missed this whole thread until now! Liz, you are AWESOME and someone I wish I knew in person. On behalf of those people everywhere who appreciate a kind and generous spirit, THANK YOU!!!! :lovestruc

I can't believe this thread is still going! I wish I knew ALL of you in person too! Everyone on this board is amazing!

dude... you actually found them!!! The internet is amazing.(although it can be scary too lol)
When i first openeing this thread I thought it was a bit intrusive posting thier personal photo. But the end result made it all worth it.
touching story!

Liz, you are awesome!!! That was a fantastic thing to do for that family! My big fear is always something happening and us losing our pictures. You gave them back something that was absolutely priceless! (You also just showed me why I probably need to open a facebook account! If something like that happened to us, I would definitely want to be findable!).
