One good, one bad.
The Devil:
It was late, we were tired, we're leaving Downtown Disney Marketplace. We waited for bus to Wilderness Lodge. It pulls up, we say "Wilderness Lodge?" she replies, "Yes." We continue to other side of Downtown Disney. Pick up others. One couple enters bus and the the woman driver says "Hop on for Wilderness!", the man replies, "Lodge?". "Yes." she replied.
Then we go no where. Another bus has side swiped another. Everyone was stuck. Our driver gets out to check on situation, returns... and this is where she goes downhill fast. She returns to the bus and make this announcement:
"Sorry folks, it looks like one of our drivers had a bit too much to drink at PI. We might be here a while."
My brother, who works for Disney and is still in his work cloths is not pleased with this statement. And we are sitting right up front near driver. Then she announces,
"A little tip for everyone.... Universal's Boardwalk is MUCH better!" *she winks and gives two thumbs up*
The bus is full... but silent. My brother is pissed and shakes his head at her. She replies to him, "What? I like DTD too, I just think Universal is better." My brother taps the Disney Corporate logo on his dress shirt and shakes his head again, she replies "So, I've got fancy logos too!"
My brother loses it, in front of everyone on the bus. He tried to keep it low key but she wouldn't shut up. He informs her that she is wearing a Disney uniform and driving a Disney bus, and that she is NOT supposed to talk about Universal, never mind the fact that she just advertised a competitor to a bus full of people that just spent their vacation time at DTD!
She gets real defensive and thinks she will be reported. Bus finally starts to move. The whole ride trying to downplay what she did. We get to Fort Wilderness and she opens the door, a few people get off. Just us and that one other couple stay. She looks confused and says "Umm...this is my last stop."
The guy form the other couple now goes off on her. "You said Lodge! I specifically asked you!" She denies it, and we start chiming in because we asked her as well! She claims we all misread the signs, but we both got on at dif stops and asked her! She gets on radio with manager who won't let her drop us off! (For ppl who don't know wilderness lodge and Fort wilderness are right near each other!)
She tells us we have to get off her bus, flag down the bus behind her, and that bus will take us.
So here we are at midnight, running down the street carrying sleeping kids, trying to flag down another bus!!! The driver of the other bus told us our previous driver needed to be "dealt with".
No amount of PR or advertising can save you from employees like this!
The Angel
Boarding a Monorail late one night. There are 16 of us (7 kids). In the rush to get on, one of the little girls had a bracelet her mom just purchased for her, fall off, bounce 3 times, and drop right between the monorail and the platform. *poof* gone.
The little girl was devastated. She began to cry despite her mom telling her she would get her another one. Then a cute blonde on the other side of the monorail reaches over to the little girl and hands her a plastic wand with a star on it.
"Here, Cinderella asked me to give you this. She says they can't start the parade without your help and this magic wand. She told me I would know who to give it to, because they would be crying. Thats how I knew you were the one for the wand."
(She said something like that, I don't remember exactly what it was.)
All of us were just in awe. It was the kindest thing we'd seen all week. The girl stopped crying right away. Only then did I notice that the blonde and her friends were dressed in costume. She was wearing a nice white dress. The girls mom asked her if she was an angel.
Cast members going above and beyond is better then any PR or advertising.
