The December Event

I'm sorry to say, but having become the Disney snob I am right now I hate the idea of going on "U-word" property....:sad2:

I can understand and appreciate that finding something different than TSM is hard, and I think the Genius did an awesome job again, but this does not appeal to me at all. I will not post my initial reaction after hearing the announcement, but it wasn't pretty :faint:

Then again: I really understand you can't please everyone!!! :rolleyes1
Oh and I will probably be there, just to spend time with my DISNEY friends. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Just sayin'

Ugh. I shouldn't have listened since I know we aren't going. THIS SOUNDS AWESOME! So go ahead people, sign up, enjoy and come back and gloat all about it, I can take it...:sad1:

Really I can't wait to see pictures and hear all about it! :yay:

Really excited that I can actually make this! :cool1:

Wondering if it's too soon to ask my principal for time off in the next school year! :rotfl:

I'm planning on going. I've never been to the Florida Universal Studios, so this will be a new treat for me... and with my special Disney friends. How cool is THAT!!! :flower:

Yay! It will be good to see you.

Dreams clients get guaranteed access, it's not a requirement for attendance though. The number will be limited, we're just not sure yet HOW limited. Like we said on the show, since we had the date confirmed, we wanted to get the info out so people could start making plans. We'll have details for reserving space in the next few weeks.

Pete

Awesome, Pete!! I went to WWoHP the day before Podcast Cruise 2.0 and loved it! Forbidden Journey and Dragon Challenge are great rides!! I don't know if PCC2.0 would count for me as a Dreams client, but I did buy my Universal tickets through Dreams and have booked PCC3.0 with you, too. Fingers crossed! I've met some great people through you and look forward to meeting more!

ETA - I just read the sticky thread. Thanks to John for the clarifications!

It'll be a shock! I couldn't believe the difference when I went. Not to mention WWoHP, which is packed with fun!

Although I won't be able to make the Dec. event, I was able to enjoy WWOHP in a similar manner last September when it was rented out for a night time event at a business conference I attended. Given that was the first & only time I've been able to go there, it was quite a way to see it. After hearing the crew talk about all the crowds last summer it was so surreal to just be able to wander slowly thru the FJ queue & take it all in & then ride it multiple times! The butterbeer is awesome too!! I hope everyone that goes has a great time.

Oh & one other comment on the news show...I wholeheartedly agree about the Citi Mini strollers from OSR! They are amazing! I been telling everyone I know that's going to WDW to rent from them. Those strollers push like they're gliding on ice (even with about 70 pounds of kids in a double!) Plus, the fact they fully recline make napping in the parks more of an option if your kiddos can wind down with all the excitement around them. Mine did & it meant we were able to go strong all day in the parks. Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents. :thumbsup2

Would LOVE to go but in this economy I can't justify paying for a hotel weekend when I live a half hour away from US/IOA. Will any of the events that weekend not require the hotel stay?

I hope there will be some available to the general public, we are flying over from the UK that day so it would be a lovely first evening for us. If I had not already booked our villa I would have definitely booked to stay the weekend at Universal so I could have more of a chance to get a ticket. Fingers crossed :)

I've had my BLT/BWV stay booked since my 11 month window last month. Can't wait to head over to IoA with DIS friends and other mods. Very cool concept. No, it's not Disney, but I don't think DIS meets have to be Disney all the time. I think this is a nice change.

Well put Emiel. I agree. I originally did not want to post a comment because I did not want to sound ungrateful or rude, but this one is just not for me. But that is ok... as you said, you cannot please everyone. I am sure many, if not most, are gonna LOVE this and that is awesome. I have never seen any of the Harry Potters. I still want to thank The Genius as well as the rest of the crew for their hard work on this and I look foward to the next event! :) In fact this is better because now it will force me to save more for a DIS ABD trip someday! :disrocks:

I have posted this on the Event thread posted by John.

I hope JenniBuginPink forgives me for using her post as my example.

Here goes....

But THIS time, I am actually going to be at WDW at the same time that the event is going on!! How great is that?? As I kept reading, it turned out, it isn't all that great. Because we've saved up DVC points for 2 years to take this trip in Dec., and we've already got the arrangements all made, and we're staying at AKV from 12/4 - 12/14 (the longest vacation we've taken in our 50-something year old lives), it turns out I may not even get to go to DISapalooza because I won't be making a reservation through Dreams Unlimited.

Now I'm so disappointed. For a minute or two I thought I was finally going to get to meet everybody, and now I'm afraid that there won't be any room left for regular people to come. I'm just crushed! Should I admit that I'm crying? I'm just so scared now that I won't get to come. This is probably my best chance to get to come to an event. I won't ever be going on a Podcast Cruise, cause I'd never get DH to agree to it (he's not the 'group' type).

I don't begrudge DU or Pete and John the right to do this at all. This is their business and it's a great marketing idea. I am just selfishly sad for me. I hope that they have a great event and that lots of people book rooms for it. Hell, look at all they give away for free all the time. There's still a slim chance that they'll have spots left for the rest of us, right? Maybe? And if not, I still have a terrific vacation to look forward to. I've just got to get this out of my head first, and I will. I'm a tough old bird. I don't know why this has hit me so hard.

*********************************************************************************

I'm going to use this post as my example, but this is for everyone concerned about this event.

I would hope at this point that you have all come to realize that our goal is to include as many people as possible in our events and to disappoint as few people as possible.

As has been stated on the podcast and in this thread......we dont even know how many guests we will be able to include yet. We will not know for a while.
Please dont assume that you will be excluded. That is the very last thing any of us want.

We understand that there are Disers who live locally and dont need a hotel, that some guests will be staying in DVC resorts that Dreams Unlimited Travel can not book...well you get the idea. This has been taken into account when planning this event.

Please know that we (ok...John) will do everything in his power to include as many people as possible that want to attend this event. That's his very nature.

Releasing information about our events is a double edged sword.

Everyone wants to know when, how, where, how much, how many and they want this information as soon as possible and we LOVE that excitement.

The other side of that is that we have people who worry that they will be excluded.

Again....we dont want you to worry.

Just be patient with us while we get the rest of the details worked out and we let John work his MAGIc.

Golly, Kevin, I don't mind if you use my post a bit, but it's so big! I'm a very little person, and I'm not used to such largeness. It was kind of startling. :scared1: The next time, try to keep it more hobbit like, ok? 5 feet is my maximum. :cutie:

And as I plan to post in the original thread, thank you so much for the reassurances. I'll go back to being hopeful and excited at the prospect that I might finally get to meet you guys after all these years, and might finally get to meet some of the folks whose posts I've read for ages as I mostly lurk around here. Thank you. Thank John. Thank Everybody!

You are not required to book the hotel stay. It's just that folks who book the hotel stay will get booking preference for the WWoHP event.

Sayhello

Do we have any idea when the details/prices will be released? Normally, Dis events don't line up with our vacations, but I'm thinking about surprising my DH (a HUGE HP fan) with a bday trip for this.

I am so hoping that we all get to meet each other. I am planning to rent DVC points too. Thanks for planning this great event and hopfully all of us who are dying to attend are able

So does this mean that priority will be given to those who book the actual event through Dreams Unlimited or do people just have to be previous Dreams clients? We will not be attending the WWoHP trip, but just out of curiosity for future events... We have booked 3 or 4 trips so far through Dreams but may not need to book the Disapalooza trip through Dreams because we too are DVC Members and use points. Is priority given to Dreams clients in general as long as they have booked a trip through Dreams in the past or is priority given to those people who will be booking this specific trip through Dreams? That's where I'm confused...

The date is Dec 10th. Prices coming soon.
