I personally think that no message board can survive very long without a little bit of controversy. I'm sure that you and I have both generated our share at different places.

I'll never fully understand why anyone is against gay marriage? I really have heard al of the excuses, but I still don't see why it would bother someone who is not directly involved?

Thats my whole point. People like to complain about how evil something is, but they still want to read it. Is that just human nature?

Actually, I think it is more like ban those who cannot control themselves and give the rest who CAN a place to debate like adults. It has ZERO to do with political leanings. (btw, I am conservative, but the us vs them, neener, neener, neener mentality is ridiculous)

Actually PygMe, I was not making reference to you. But you are right.....judging you because you said the only things the Swedes ever did was invent the Swiss army knife was unfair, although it was, perhaps, an example of how you could be mistakne about another country.

As to the other attack, I am embarassed to say I do not remember it.

While it is good to remember the past (so we don't repeat it), we probably should strive move on with a clean slate and avoid re-hashing DB history. We're all human; we've all made mistakes. This can be a learning/growing experience for all of us.

I posted there for a good two years without being banned. I haven't posted there for about a year now, but that's mostly because I went to WDW twice in 2003 and skipped DLR. I've met Doobie twice. I don't think I'll have a problem with being banned.

I think removing the posts or just shutting it down is one of those no win situations for us. Had I removed the posts I am quite sure I would have been told we were trying to hide something etc etc...

I think - now that several days have past - that leaving it there makes no sense whatsoever and quite frankly, makes the entire DIS site look silly.. How often does one run across a "Debate Board" that doesn't allow debates??

As I stated previously, it puts me in mind of Kmarts advertising policies.. They advertise the stuff, but don't have it when you get there.. (And I'm STILL trying to get my coffee from my last go-around with them!!!)
