Okay Minniepumpernickle, whatever you say. I do have an issue with you implying that I go to other websites in order to bash people or to be "mean"

I'm clueless as to where I might have scared people off and how I haven't kept it clean. And as far as friendly, I've only come here to respond back to comments directed towards me. I didn't come here to start anything, I didn't even know I was brought into this thread until I had nothing better to do than to read 20+ pages of bickering back and forth.

I think there are a lot of people that are far braver behind a keyboard than they would ever be in real life.

I believe that you are 99 percent right. I also believe that most people say things with their keyboards that they would never say to a person directly.

But on the other hand, I also feel that most people are more open and express their true inner feelings behind their keyboard than they would otherwise. I wouldn't think twice in telling some of my oldest friends to "kiss off" (so to speak) in a jokingly manner but I wouldn't do that to person I just met or hardly knew. That is unless I really meant it in mean way.

And that's the rub, some people take what is said here WAAAY too seriously and too personally.

Afterall, according to MeanLaureen, it's "only a message board".

First off, I wasn't fighting. Trust me, this is NOT fighting for me, this is just a discussion.

Second, as far as the childish banter is concerned, you started this nonsense about me being mean on other boards.

You know what, my screenname is my screenname on all the boards I frequent. Anyone that wants to can see whatever I had to say and make a judgement on my character themselves. I do not hide under an alias anywhere.

I never did say I was perfect. I'm not. Let me make this clear, if my name is dragged through the mud anywhere, I will defend myself - as will most people. If defending myself is considered mean, well I guess I am.

OK - I'm one of those people who just tried to access DB today for the first time in a week and was stunned to find it closed! I came to the DIS to "talk" to DVCers when we were considering purchase, and I've continued to visit some of the Disney boards. I've occasionally visited CB and joined in a few conversations about common interests. But my main love at the DIS was DB!

I am one of those people who feel that my opinions have been altered by reading some of these debates. I've learned to tone down my judgmental attitude and be tolerant with others' viewpoints on key topics such as parenting and politics. So I think there was definite good derived from the DB which is in the spirit of Disney!!

Yes, I've watched the JJ/VH drama unfold with my eyes rolling occasionally, but I've learned a few things in those posts, too.

We had the obnoxious girl and fiancee a few weeks back (started with the shopping cart thread) and thought the moderators did a great job removing that awful entity from the board.

I'm really sad the DB is gone. I will check in here for debate discussions - but if a group of you DBers find a new home, someone please PM me so I can find you!

Listen, we may not like a site and what goes on there, but there are sure people who are not bad people (despite the "mean" in their name ) who go there.

It's the exact same thing with the DB. There were a lot of "mean" people posting rotten things there. So much that people refused to even look at that board. Does that mean that the people who posted there were all bad? No. It just means that a few rotten apples spoiled the whole bunch and the blame should go to them.

This is exactly my point about moderating the DB. If the DB had been moderated effectively then the name calling would not have happened or would have been halted in it's tracks.
