The debate board.. please read

We are constantly evaluating the various boards on the DIS to make sure that they further our primary purpose, Disney travel planning and a Disney community.
It has become apparent that the Debate board has not added to that purpose for some time.
Because of this we have made a decision to close the debate board. It will remain in place in a "read only" format.
Any debates on any of the other boards on the DIS will be required to strictly follow DIS posting policy. Here is a link to that policy for those that are not familiar with it:

It seems like the CB doesn't "further our primary purpose, Disney travel planning and a Disney community" any more than the DB does. Oh well, it is your choice of course, but I'm sure that ALOT of people will miss the DB.

I liked posting there, but people on this community board have come back from the debate board with very hurt feelings. I mean I was called stupid..in so many words..but that doesn't phase me like it does others.

I'll support whatever decisions you all make in the name of keeping this site up! I love it here!

I loved reading there. Man, I can't believe how serious some people are when they post there. It helped those slow hours pass when I was at work. I am going to miss it.

Not surprised. Another Disney board I used to go to banned prayer requests and discussion of religion and politics recently. A Ford truck board I also visit banned religion, politics and gun control discussions about the same time. The gun ban got quickly dropped though. Don't mess with pickup truck drivers guns.

Well, that's aggravating. If people don't like what they read there, then they shouldn't read it. If someone can't handle differing opinions, that's their problem. Why should the rest of us have to miss out on a good debate because some people can't handle their emotions. It's really sad.

I actually remember when the FIRST debate board was created! There was too much controversy on the ONLY disney board that Pete had created, therefore the Debate board was born! My how this site has grown since then - what has it been 8,9, 10 years worth of work? WOW!

There has been some serious debates on the DB. Just hope that since that board has closed down, no one will start to debate things that seriously on the other boards.
