You were MORE than helpful, Glynis!!! We definitely did use your advice!

I may actually try to do a trip report for the 1st time, mainly because I thought it was interesting all the things we noticed that were different between both places. We had a great time, and we loved the Disneyland Hotel - it had the perfect mix of nostalgia and Disney magic! If only I could get a Tink pixie dust border for my bedroom - DH actually asked if they sold it! :rotfl2:

I especially loved that the characters just walked around like they used to do years ago at WDW - no crazy lines at Toontown, in the Town Square, etc. It was so spontaneous - and there seemed to be so many more of them, too. The only characters I noticed with "handlers" were Mickey and the princesses - everyone else was on their own!
That was 1 of my favorites about DL. The characters are so much fun. We saw Alice and the Mad Hatter playing musical chairs with some kids at 1 of the CS places on Main Street. Capt. Hook played around with my oldest, he tried to convince him to put his head in a trashcan. :rotfl: Of course, my son said you first, I was cracking up. Out of curiosity, did they say if they sold the border anywhere? I'm glad you had a good trip.

I keep saying the one year we are going get AP and spend some good times there with the kids but just never seem to as we always have so many other vacations planned and time is our problem.
Are the AP's also valid for DL??? This years vacations are planned out to the day - I always have more vacations planned than fits into my 18 vacation days.
2006 - All planned out.
2007 - we are talking about going to South Africa for 5 weeks in December and showing the kids around so there goes that year.
2008 - may have to be the year for AP's with a couple of trips at WDW.
There are separate AP's for DL but I think they're priced lower than WDW. We found that it's better to start with a Parkhopper for the bonuses that come with it.(ESPN game card and EE to FL one day) Then you can upgrade to an AP at DL.

Hi everyone!

I haven't been feeling well lately and reading too much makes it worse so it's been almost impossible to keep up with this thread. I've read back a few pages and just wanted to say:

Deb - I'm so glad to hear about your dad. He is so lucky!

I hope all of the sick kiddos and kids having surgery get well soon :wizard:

Kristine, your Grandson is adorable! Congratulations on the new addition :goodvibes

Amy, hope you're feeling better today and enjoy your visit with Grandma :goodvibes

Lindsey - YEAH on the win :cheer2: I'm glad you were able to have so much fun while you were there.

I'm sure I've missed lots of important things and I hope to catch up soon. Won't be tonight though, Lost is finally back on  I need my Sawyer fix :lovestruc
Hi Dawn. Hope you feel better soon.

I thought I was over this lose but I guess not.....anyway.....it was a good game after halftime but they just weren't into the game until halfway thru 2nd qtr and after that the damage was done. But they are still my DAWGS and they will always be my favorite.

Lynn

Stick with your team - they'll be back! :goodvibes

I need advice:

Julia has lost her voice - she seems fine otherwise - she tells me it hurts to talk

her breathing is fine and her energy level seems normal

she is on antibiotics and has been for 6 days now - would you send her to school?

the lost voice seems to be the only problem -

I know it seems ridiculous to ask you all what you think - she hasn't been to school in over a week but I can't bear the thought of sending her back and getting sick again!!

how do you make the decision that your child is ready to go back to school?
I would probably keep her home another day or 2. You might want to call her Dr. I was on antibiotics for an infection last week and it actually got worse. I'm going to have to switch to stronger antibiotics. They have said that some people are needing stronger meds. for illnesses. Hope she gets better quickly. :wizard:

Bama fan here! We were pulling for Texas too! It was a great game. We were at the Alabama/Miami Sugar Bowl in 92 when AL won the national championship. It is definetly a game to remember. Looking at Vince from outside your team, he really did not have a choice. He had reached perfection. Besides the chance of getting hurt, what if he did not have as good of a season and he went down in the draft. Congrats!!

Thanks, Cindy! :flower:

I know - his stock likely would never be so high again, unless he somehow managed to do a repeat performance next year AND had won the Heisman.

I really want to read a trip report. I love to read comparisons between WDW and DL. I'm so glad you had a good time.

I will do my best to work one up!

We actually didn't ask about the border, but maybe we should have! As much as I love Disney, though, I bet DH would have me committed (even though it was his idea) if I put that in our bedroom. I had a hard enough time convincing him to keep our Disney cordless phone in there! :rotfl:

I know my DH thinks I'm nuts. I love Pooh and gang, my favorite being Eeyore(obviously). When they had the Eeyore reindeer bedding I wanted to get some. My DH put his foot down, he will not sleep in a room with characters or too many flowers. :rotfl2: So I picked bedding with a few flowers that had a lot of leaves. He just  .

What time is your layover in Atlanta?? I am dropping my DH off at the Atlanta airport around 7:30am. I wouldn't be able to get thru to the concourse though since I am not a ticketed passenger.

We arrive at 8:00 and leave at 10:36. Small world. Before 9/11 we could have met. I could come out but with 2 small ones it would be a pain to go back through security. We are flying Delta.

How is your son today? I bet your family celebrated last night.

Kate how is Julie today? Did you keep her home?

To think we would be so close but not able to meet. I don't blame you not wanting to come out of the concourse. Being a Saturday morning plus 2 little ones it would be to difficult.

Thanks for asking about Alex. I had to remind him about his "New Christian Attitude" when he lost his basketball game last night. He is every competitive and hates loosing. But he adjusted well......he is 100% boy.

That is a wonderful thing about DL. When we were there 2 years ago, we had lunch at Ariel's Grotto. DS had a huge crush on Ariel. Well, we were the only family with children there at the time, and Ariel spent about a half hour talking with my son. She held him on her lap, kissed him on both cheeks (we were not allowed to wash the lipstick off the rest of the day), and we got some really special pictures of the two of them.

This last September, Alice and the Mad Hatter made all 4 of my kids honorary citizens of Disneyland, which was a big thing. Later that trip, as we were on our way out of the park we ran into Wendy, Peter Pan and Captain Hook. Wendy grabbed a hand of each of my twins, and Peter ran off to hide. We spent about 45 minutes playing hide and seek for Peter Pan. It was so magical! We also had many pixie dust moments with Eeyore and Piglet as well.

on the regular - it is 7 days for a DVC AP

10 day park hopper no expire 410 regular AP - 441
7 day park hopper no expire 329 DVC AP 335

Tammi - this is assuming that you would want park hopper and no expiration - I don't think you can buy more than 10 days on a ticket

if you did not add an expiration option - you would probably be better buying the tickets - but I would assume if you are buying an AP you plan on using them on more than one trip

$329?? each?? for a 7day? Blimey! I didn't realise they were that much. We got two free with our wedding package last year - but we weren't aware we were going to get them so we'd already bought a 21 day tickets back home.

That's the main reason we might be going back this year -as we won't have to buy the Disney tickets :goodvibes I did realise this week though that we did something really silly on our trip. We knew we would want to use the 7day passes in the future so we went and added the non expiry option... of course this week the penny dropped that they don't expire until 14 days after you activate them... and we won't activate them until the next trip -and we'll use them all up within 14 days... Doh!! I'll put that moment of madness down to wedding nerves :rotfl:

a lot of people are starting to ask - so I guess it isn't us

I wonder if it has to do with the server - maybe the searches were causing problems - I hope it is up soon - I can't imagine not having a search function!!

Okay DDA family, I really need you!!!

My older sister's birthday is next week. What I want to give her is a trip to the World. My World. She's 65+ and has never been.... :scared1:

I am torn. If I go for the Christmas stuff (my first choice) I would have to go Nov. 30th to Dec. 5 or so. This will have to be a budget trip, but I would REALLY love to stay at the WL again.... She would love that...

If they offer the free dining again   (yes, I can dream) then I would like to go then. That would be Sept 28th to Oct 4th....

My dilema... I want to give her a tshirt for her birthday telling her she's going to Disney. Do I put for Christmas and then if they offer the free food tell her we're going earlier, or do I give her a thsirt just with a "trip to WDW" on it? I want her to know I have really planned this and we're going.....

I really want to go to Candlight Proc., see the Osborne lights, go to MVMCP. Watch the cute show at EPCOT. Look at the lights come on at the countries and watch the holiday ending for Illuminations...Sip a hot toddy in the lobby of the WL. Sit on the beach and watch the ELP and the fireworks. Take the little boat to the MK or the CR and ride the monorail. She'll just love it. Hmmmm, I really, really, really need a balcony....they have nice balconies with a peek at the castle, woods view.... And I really want the dining plan, that was so cool.... She'd love that because then she wouldn't spend all of her time looking at the price of food and freaking out.....

My AP expired. :sad1:    so I can't get the BRP. If I sell my condo in the next 4 days I'll buy DVC, but no DVC resort has a view of the castle!!!! :scratchin :scratchin

Okay, didn't mean to get so long fingered, but I really need a shirt for my sister......

Help!!!!! :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:
i'm kinda in that boat with my cousin but we are both going for a grad trip for me. it kinda has to be budgeted but we want deluxe stuff. so far we have agreed on AKL b/c i want to so we are going deluxe that way. we were thinking dining premium but went down to the table, counter service and snack per day b/c we probably will only want one huge meal a day. i hope it kinda helped probably didnt but o well.
