Just so you all know, Tom and I have exchanged PMs and all is fine, as far as I'm concerned. :goodvibes

Amy :)
Good. I hope he comes back on.

That's what I thought when I saw it - I think girls have to be Dames though... so we should now call you Dame Tammi - Royal Welcomer of the DDA
:goodvibes
:rotfl:

Just so i'm not called Royal PITA of the DDA. ;)

Well it's a word not a saying...

I picked it because last trip (not the one just gone) it was a question on WHTBAM play it - and the guy in the chair had no idea and the audience got it wrong...

What's a lorry?

well we were there 17th-22nd..right before christmas..

It looked like it was going to rain almost every moring but it didn't.
it got upto low 70's everyday.

Little chilly in the morning and afternoons though. (there were still people swimming in the outside pool though..i think it was heated?)

I'm from PA though so chilly was still fine for me..hehe

Wore a light wind breaker like jacket and i was fine the whole day.

we then went to visit my wifes family in alabama from the 22nd till the 4th.. and weather was the same there..so i would guess it would be the same for your trip also..
I was there the same time, 17th-24th, and I don't think it got past 65, except of course, the day we left. :guilty:

Now I have visions of Dame Edna!! Yuck!

Think more along the lines of Dame Maggie Smith (Professor McGonagall). I think Julie Andrews has been knighted recently? Clare, do you know?

Ok, now I'm hungry. Is it lunch yet?

Can I use dried ginger? I hate buying fresh stuff because I never use it again.

You can use dried. I like to use the fresh because it gives it a kick. Here's a tip, buy the fresh gingerroot and cut it into 1-2 inch pieces. Store in a baggie in the freezer. When you need some, pull out a piece and run it over your grater or micro plane. The skin is so tough it stays on one side of the grater, and all the good stuff falls off into your bowl. It works great, and it will keep in your freezer indefinitely.

Wow - I didn't know that but it is indeed true - she was made dame of the british empire in 2000.

I love Julie Andrews... just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down... in the most delightful way :goodvibes

I am not positive...but I thought it was a truck or a train car. If it was spelled lory...well, then it's a type of parrot. I know that because I had one.

OK - so we now have:

Queen Kate
Dame Terry (Duke & Dutchess)
Sheriff Skunka

Any other titles to keep track of? I think I am going to set up an Excel Spreadsheet with everyone's screen name, real name, where they live, etc. Sometimes I get so confused. My old brain seems to be filling up very quickly. I need to dump some of that useless information from my youth (trig is one big example), so there is room for new stuff.

MAC- good luck with the new medication for Mya. I was glad to hear that she doesn't suffer any pain from this.

DEB-Sorry to hear you can't access the DIS from your laptop. I know how excited you were to be able to "borrow" high speed access from your brother.

TERRY-A very touching story. This week was the 3rd anniversary of my father's death and sometimes it being so close to Christmas makes it hard for everyone. I appreciate the reminder to appreciate our loved ones while they are here. Your BIL sounds like he was an amazing person.

LYNN-I must be very lucky with the bus situation. My kids get on within 5 minutes of each other. DD6 rides the K-5 bus and gets picked up at 7:24, DS11 rides the 6-12 bus and gets picked up at about 7:20. We also have one more chance if we miss the first. We live in a small district and all the schools are fairly close so they all dismiss within about 20 minutes also. I know what you are saying about being at work. I spend a little too much time looking in also. It helps for me to close the browser too. I'll check back at lunch.

PAUL-I like the new signature. It befits your title.

BETH-LOL - Never heard the Hitler is a Jerk line (I do know the entire Batman song though). I'll chime in next:
When there's too much to do
Don't let it bother you, forget your troubles,
Try to be just like a cheerful chick-a-dee

GLYNIS-Thanks for the recipe. Did I miss some info? How did things go at the Dr. yesterday? I bet he was impressed with your weight loss to date. Are you on for the 1/2 marathon? Have fun bowling. I used to be on a league. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out why I was paying to humiliate myself in public. My goal was 3 games over 100 in 1 night.

TAMMI-Gosh Tammi, you could transfer any extra un-used points into my account :p . Are you planning a big trip for next year? You don't want to lose them (they should be good until July 31, 2007). One other thought would be to use a 1 bedroom instead of a studio. I really like having the washer/dryer right there in the room. We take less clothes and I don't come home with a suitcase full of dirty stuff either. Plus, we like to eat breakfast in the room. (Plus 2 TVs, you don't have to watch The Disney Channel all week.) Just a couple of thoughts.

Beverly - Thanks for asking. I posted on the Weight loss board, but forgot to mention over here. The Dr. is very pleased with how I'm doing. My blood pressure is back to normal, everything looks good, and he is THRILLED that I want to do the half. In fact, he told me he'd come cheer me on. He wants to get a bunch of patients to work together as a team to do more marathons. I guess I'm the first one that's officially done it, that he knows of. So, Yeah! I'm in!

What's a lorry?

Some kind of motorized vehicle - usually a truck?

Congrats! Yea on your BP. So did you get to go off meds?

Well there you are. I was wondering if you started your kid-free weekend early. :)

Amy, I had that too... I am pretty sure it was the iron in the pre-natal vitamins (and I had a BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Sorry you got sick. I had a horrible cold at the end of my 1st trimester and couldn't take anything for it- I thought I was going to die! It took 10 days to run its course.

As for the cravings, I fed every one I had (I guess that is why I gained 62 pounds  ). My DH still laughs about me sitting on the couch eating a Whopper when a Taco Bell commercial came on and I begged him to go get me a Mexican Pizza. He laughed and said "Sure, honey, :love2: finish your Burger King and I will go get you Taco Bell!"

Oh well, if I can lose 70 pounds than so can you guys!!

I forgot to respond to this yesterday. So, are you saying, your husband didn't go to Taco Bell for you? :rotfl:

Alyssa and I went grocery shopping this morning, and I tried to buy all the things to make a "homemade" version of my Subway turkey sub. Kevin has already tainted it though, by telling me, "it's not going to be the same."

Amy :)

Took Nick to the doctor today after a sleepless night

he has croup - a HORRIBLE ear infection and possibly strep throat but she didn't do the test since she was putting him on antibiotics anyway

so much for our romantic weekend
