Now you are ALL catching on, I am so done with the old thread and the negativity. We now have our happy place back.

ETA Bobs your Uncle, that's for Clare

Ok I'm here - Glynis came and got me :goodvibes I was just trying to catch up on the 30 odd pages you've whipped up so far and I was going to wait until I had caught up to post but then I saw Paul mentioned me so... Bob's your uncle here I am! :rotfl:

I'm so glad we're all back in a happy place. I do have one request though - I feel like we have a new start in a new thread and I'd kinda like a new logo? We're still the DDA and always will be but I feel like our old logo needs to be laid to rest with our old thread RIP.

Kate - would you like to do the design honours?

Nice to see you all again - oh and I am also trying to find out Jennifer's good news - if you shared it between page 17 and here ignore me - if you didn't then what on earth was it????? :goodvibes :goodvibes

As Paul said yesterday, everybody is allowed in the pool!!!!!!

Thanks,

Yesterday was a tad difficult to try to read when I came here today. Without any quotes, it was a bit like trying to read Faulkner's Stream of Consciousness writing. Without a previous quote, Kate's comment of "dressed, did someone say I am dressed?" could be a classic. No matter what, it was great to have the fun back.

I am trying to remember what I need to catch up on:

KATE - I hope Julia is feeling better and :wizard: that Nick doesn't catch it. Just as I got caught up, I read about your weekend. :wizard: to you and Mr. Kate too. I know how important alone time can be. DH works obnoxious hours and I cherish any time I can get alone with him. We usually go to his conference alone every year in Feb., but this year it's in Hawaii, and that's not in the Club's budget. Darn. My DM also doesn't have enough vacation time to take my kids, so we are staying home.

MAC - I know it has been said, but what a beautiful family. If you have any questions regarding DVC or DCL, just let us know. I believe there are quite a few of us here that have done both, and regretted neither.

DENISE - Glad to know you are feeling better. Don't push too hard too fast, you don't want to relapse (look at me telling the RN what to do :rolleyes1 ). I hope all the kids are feeling better and ready to be back at school. Congrats on your milestone!

GLYNIS - congrats on your awesome results so far. I think the 1/2 marathon would be an awesome goal for you. I'll have to think about it some day. I could walk it, but the knees are too far gone from previous injury to ever seriously consider running it. I would love to cheer you all on though. I had never heard that GB patients couldn't drink carbonated drinks. That must be hard. Thanks for the Tilapia in lime juice recipe. I absolutely love all seafood. I'll have to try it.

CinderellaFan and Monica - Welcome aboard!

PAUL AND MARTI - Welcome home! Paul, thanks for starting the sing-a-longs. I do have quite a few Disney Sing-a-long video tapes if you ever need to borrow them.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all of the January birthdays. My DD6, will turn 7 on the 25th. (It seems that there are quite a few of those almost 7 year old on this thread).

TAMMI - Welcome home to the DVC! I hope you are able to book your preferred dates today! Did you buy at SSR? Good info Kate - I never knew I could book with just my SSN. I always dig my card out. (Of course, I enjoy sitting there looking at my card while I am waiting.) Oh yea, Hi Tammi! Thanks for the welcome back.

KELLI - Great picture of your girls. Were those the anti-stain sweatshirts from Wal-Mart? That is what I used for the bus drivers Christmas present, and I hope the transfer holds up and doesn't peel off. Good luck on deciding about the DVC. We love it. I just wish I could get DH to go more often. SW airlines had a deal for $108/ r/t last week and DH wouldn't go. Darn him.

BALOO - DH has informed me in no uncertain terms that he is to be awakened any time I feel the need for "attention." Won't bother him to lose a little sleep. :goodvibes

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAKE!

JEN - Congrats on your grades and have an awesome time on your cruise!

JENNIFER - I, for one, am waiting to hear your good news!

KRISTINE - I have also looked at staying on-site at Universal for the FOTL pass, but I decided for the cost of the rooms, we would stay at Disney and pay the extra $15 or $20 for the FOTL pass that they sell.

OK, I think that catches me up. If I missed someone, I apologize, it wasn't intentional.

Have an awesome day!

Hey Clare! Welcome back! Bob's your uncle.........:teeth:

I don't think Jennifer has found her way here yet. If she is lurking I sure hope she starts back posting. I know she is on the road and may not get to check in as much as she does when at home. I to would like to hear her good news.

Also welcome to the new ones that started posting.

Bob's your uncle is the British equivalent of easy as 1, 2, 3. I love it, think it's so expressive. I think we should all work it into our daily speech. Whatta ya think?

:rotfl2: I started a craze!!!

Maybe I should start doing "English saying of the day"...

I had no power last night (some 16 year old girl without a license decided to go for a joyride and hit the pole - she escaped with a broken arm and a broken leg - she could have been killed!!), so I had no idea what was going on on the other thread. I was already about 16 pages behind, but when I saw Baloo's post, I went back and caught up. I'm still confused, but that's okay. I actually cried when I read the last post on our wonderful thread. I am glad, though that we have this thread to turn to. Thanks, Kate! I have only read a couple of pages, so I probably won't catch up for awhile. This 9-5 business really gets in the way of having fun!

Marti - steve has no desire to meet his birth parents

it DRIVES me crazy - I would be way too curious

and what if he has a big trust fund out there :earboy2:

I actually was having a really bad summer and got a letter in the mail from her about 12 years ago and thought it couldn't get much worse. So I called the number at the bottom of the letter. No Trust Fund though, in actuallity her parent's don't even acknowledge me nor her family. But, her sister just moved to Texas about 15 miles from my Sister, so I think one day I might just knock on a door and introduce myself to my "Aunt".

I am a real fan of Shock and Awe.

Ok. Here is my first attempt at a t-shirt design. Please let me know what you think. I'm not too sure about the color of the lettering. I still have to clean up the rough edges but may not since I just plan on cutting it off anyway.

There is a story behind the Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow. Last year, my DH, DD19, and DD16 and I got stuck in the first part of Carousel of Progress. I think we saw it 6 times. It would play, we'd start to move and it would shutter to a stop. They would reset and we'd watch it all again (I guess it has to start from the beginning when reset) with the same results. There was a great group of people in there with us. Everyone laughed and talked. We did the wave. What could have been miserable turned out to be fun. I always tell my girls it is what you make of a situation that makes it good or bad. They had to shut down the ride so we went back later to go through the whole thing. We've been singing the song ever since!

Maybe that should be the new DDA strapline?

Kate - would you recommend us going over Columbus day weekend? What days were you there and how bad were the parks? I am looking at either going in the afternoon on Wed. Oct. 18 and returning Sun. Oct. 22, with Nicholas missing 2.5 days of school.

But we could go over Columbus Day arriving early on Wed. the 4th and returning Mon. the 9th, still missing 2.5 days. CD is the 9th.

Based on your trip, what do you recommend?

I hated that show until I saw it through my kids eyes -

amazing how they see magic that sometimes as adults we miss

Maybe I should borrow them.. I just don't get it - last trip we missed it completely even though I know I'll never see it again...

Tammi - I'm not Kate, but we have also been over CD weekend. I would definitely choose 18-22. The crowds start to build leading up to CD and then drop on the 9th and itself and get very quiet. At least that is what happened with us.

well there's an english phrase for you - strapline - I think that is what we call a tagline

dumby - actually I think clare was referring to an English saying - she is from england and we call them the English - so a saying that comes from her country would be an English saying

and we did all discuss one day that they speak english and we speak American English - which really are pretty distinctive
