Vicki - what's a breezeway closet?

Claire,
A breezeway is kinda like a porch between the garage and house and sometimes a closet is put in just to hold things so they don't get wet if it rains.

Originally, a breezeway was just a roof covering between the carriage house (horse barn) and house (since the breeze blew through it it was called a breezeway). Even though people started to add walls later, it kept the name. With Chuck being a civil engineer, he was able to tell me where the term came from when you asked. It may also be called an entryway, back hall, or mud room. When we added our garage to our house, we also added a 10x12 room between the house & the garage. It has a door on every wall - one from the front yard, one from the garage, one to the backyard and one into the house. It pretty much just has a bench, a hanging mirror with coat hooks and a closet in the room.

Even though ours has walls, I like the sound of breezeway better than the other terms people use. So I call mine a breezeway so the closet is a breezeway closet.

As a side note, it is becoming our Disney room. We painted it yellow and it is quite cheery. There are two Disney posters on the walls. My mom got me a bunch of picture frames from Goodwill & St. Vinnies (second hand stores that benefit the needy). I'm going to print pictures from our Disney trips and hang them in the room as well. There is nothing better than being reminded of Disney as we leave or enter the house!

Hi, ho! Lovable and friendly, you get along well with everyone you know.
You're a big thinker, and sometimes you over think life's problems.
Don't worry - everyone know's it's not easy being green.
Just remember, time's fun when you're having flies!

We're getting some new neighbours in about 4 weeks. When we got back from the supermarket today the couple were at the house talking to the current owner. The guy stopped to talk to Lee as we were unloading the shopping (groceries). They seem nice - about our age I think and they also have cats. I didn't really talk as I was unloading the car... and I'm really shy around strangers... I felt bad after, hope they didn't think I was being rude... I'm just not good around new people. It would be really nice if we all got on and became friends, but I don't want to get my hopes up...

I think I need to go somewhere and take "how to make friends and not be so ridiculously shy" lessons
Clare - maybe we should all come to WDW and give you a crash course!!

You are an awesome girl and have NO reason to be shy - just think of it as joining a new thread!!!

You take the title "mad scientist" to the extreme -with very scary things coming out of your lab.
And you've invented some pretty cool things, from a banana sharpener to a robot politician.
But while you're busy turning gold into cottage cheese, you need to watch out for poor little Beaker!
"Oh, that's very naughty, Beaker! Now you eat these paper clips this minute."

Looks good to me! Just remember to get there early and head straight for Fantasyland. Most of those rides don't have fastpass, so you want to do them before the crowds get too big.

We love Goofy's Kitchen! It's a fun experience, and your kids will love it!

The Radisson is a nice place. You'll have a great time, and be surprised at how close everything is to DL.

Is the Princess Breakfast in DCA at Ariel's Grotto? I haven't been there since it became a princess meal, but I think you and Julia would really have fun there. We've been there for lunch and enjoyed it. Don't forget to go to San Andreas Shakes in DCA and have a California Date Shake. I thought it would be so gross, but is was really yummy! At least the 3 bites I could have were yummy!

I'll start looking over my notes and see what other advice I could pass along to you!

Kate, I must have missed this, I have a few things to add.
I will get it typed up and post it a little later this weekend. I need to double check something w/ a friend on how we used the Story Teller Cafe to get a great meal for an awesome deal. We didn't buy that meal so I will check w/ my friend.
Also the Princess meals start at 11:30 they don't have a breakfast at Ariels Grotto but they do have a Meet and Greet if you have a Disney Visa.
I'll think some omore and get back on this.

That is to darn cute!!

I didn't let Cassidy get her ears pierced until she was 12 and could prove to be reliable in the upkeep of her ears. I know I am a bad, bad mommy!! :guilty: :teeth:

Don't say that! If that makes you a bad mommy, then I am, too! Katie is not allowed to get her ears pierced until she's 12. Right now, I know that she wouldn't keep her ears clean, and I'm not about to do it for her! I also know that she'd lose her earrings. So, 12 it is for all my girls.

Hi! My parents just left. We had a really nice visit and got a lot of things done around the house. Now we have to settle back into 'reality'.

PD to everyone that needs it.

I like all the new pictures and tickers. I do have a question though...where do you go on the *************** to make the ticker??? I can't seem to find it.

ETA: Nevermind, I found it.

PD and prayers for you and the kids

What about the boys? :lmao: I probably shouldn't have asked that question because I don't want to get into a political debate over whether boys should be allowed to get their ears pierced. Chuck, his father & my father would have died if I had boys and I let them get their ears pierced. I'm glad that I didn't have to deal with that decision. Chuck was all for the girls getting purple streaks, etc. in their hair while they were young and before they had jobs. However, to him, ear piercing is permanent.

How awful of a DIL would I be, if I sold the Norman Rockwell plate collection on eBay that my MIL gave me for my birthday? :lmao: These are Christmas plates that she has collected for years. I don't display them and they don't have any special meaning to me.

She had given me some plates years ago that she had gotten from Chuck as he was growing up. I held on to them for years for sentimental reasons for him. Then I found out Chuck hated those plates. It reminded him of his dad yelling at him when he hadn't gotten anything for his mothers birthday or mothers day or whatever. His dad would then go out and buy a plate and make Chuck give it to his mom. Needless to say, those plates are long gone. I'm not hanging on to something that gives him bad memories!

I've kept some stuff for the girls hope chest. When his parents moved out of the family home and into the lake house, she gave us lots of neat stuff. I put some of it away for the girls at the time. My mother bought each of the girls a china set at an auction one year so they have that set aside for them. We have Chuck's mom's china set and silver that I'll be able to hand down some day.

ETA: Hmmmm. I wonder if there are plates dated the years the girls were born. That would be neat to hang onto for their hope chests.

If you don't think the girls would want them then give ebay a shot. The money could help pay for your addictions. :rotfl2:

Cool. She has plates from 1984-1991. I am putting the 1985 & 1988 in the girls hope chests without telling them. That will be a great surprise for them. Now I'm off to eBay to see how much I could get for them if I was to sell them. Not sure I will but I'm going to look.

how much can you get?
