You're right. It's not worth having a big fight over. He went to bed very upset with me for switching and taking it away from Rees. I'd try POR, but we'd prefer the Mansions over AB. I'd need 2 rooms, and we can stay on the monorail for that price. Having that 5th person makes staying at WDW much harder to find accommodations.
Yep Onsite disney is harder for larger families. If you can afford it I say go for it. :thumbsup2 I would love to stay at a Deluxe but we have way too many medical bills between DH's ongoing medical condition, Zachary's problem and Caleb's Kidney problems. Still, I'm looking forward to POR. After all it's Disney. Still I'm holding out hope for our 10th anniversary trip in DEC 2007. Your report on the GF has me dreaming. :cloud9: Maybe DH's company will make a huge profit next year and we'll get some of it. :teeth: When do you leave for your beach trip? I hope your family has a wonderful time. :goodvibes
Just a thought but might want to check your ADR's after switching back to make sure they didn't drop any (not sure if they're connected to hotel room :confused3 )

If I could I would go in September and December and May.....and...... :cheer2: :cheer2: :cloud9:
December sounds fun and pretty. So that's my vote after all good things come to those who wait. :goodvibes

I was planning on a great night on the thread, but I have to go now because we just got a very sad call. I don't know if you remmeber me talking about a friend of ours DD who was sent to WDW in late Apr from Make A Wish. She was only 10 yrs old and today she passed away after only a year of having cancer. I am so very sad right now. And ti think I was complaining that DH and I forgot about our anniversary, how flipping trivial is that crap. This little girl was fighting to then end and we didn't help the family any these past past few days and now she is gone. I know we couldn't have done anything about it, but I wish I would have done something like make them a meal or something.
I have a few calls to make and a few things to do for the family. I might be back a little later.

Here is a news story that was done about her if you'd like to read it.

10-Year-Old Girl Spends day as KC-10 Pilot
Air Force Print News | Jennifer Brugman | May 31, 2006
usaf1_20060531.jpg
Travis AFB, CA. - It was a foggy day in San Francisco when a 10-year-old girl flew a KC-10 Extender under the Golden Gate Bridge.

Katie Powell, daughter of Senior Master Sgt. Chris Powell of the 60th Operations Group, was named Pilot for a Day May 19 and given an inside look at the daily life of pilots at Travis.

Master Sgt. Kenneth Rossa, 60th OG C-17 loadmaster evaluator, started the program to provide opportunities to local children who are facing life-threatening diseases. Katie has Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer.

“We’re just trying to treat her very special today,” said Capt. Cate Fienhold, 6th Air Refueling Squadron executive officer. “She is a very strong girl.”

Katie started her day with an honorary pilot presentation. She received unit patches and a scarf. She then went on to her mission briefing and obtained her orders for the day along with a donated flight suit.

Her mission began at the air traffic control tower where she spoke to pilots and aircrews in flight.

Then she took command of the KC-10 simulator and flew out to San Francisco, where she buzzed the Golden Gate and executed a near-perfect landing on her first try.

From the simulator, she went on to KC-10 boom operator training, had lunch and then toured an actual KC-10.

At the end of the day, she met Col. Steven Arquiette, 60th Air Mobility Wing commander, who gave her a coin and the scarf from around his neck.

“One of the things she kept saying was that she was thankful,” Sergeant Powell said. “She understands how much work people have to do. Everyone we visited took time out of their day to show her around.”

Sergeant Powell works as a KC-10 boom operator; the tour gave Katie a chance to see what her dad does at his job.

“To be honest, it was just fortunate that I happen to work in the same type of area,” Sergeant Powell said. “I had nothing to do with it other than my daughter was the recipient.”

Katie was the first Pilot for a Day at Travis.

“One of the things we told her was that she was the test run,” Sergeant Powell said. “I asked her if there was anything she recommended to make the program better; she said she wouldn’t change a thing. It was perfect. She really had a great time.”

The day was not without its surprises for Sergeant Powell.

“When they asked her what job she wanted to do, she said boom (operator); that was a complete shock to good old dad,” he said.

Oh My Denise!!! Now you have me in tears this morning. I read what she wrote in the journal to everyone after his passing. I lost it when I read the part about the peace of know that her sweet son was in the arms of Jesus...."I can only imagine". They have truely been thru alot and although I don't know them or the family that Paula mentioned I will keep both of them in my prayers.

Lynn

She referenced 2 Timothy 4:6-8 I read that same scripture at my Grandfathers funeral. If no one has ever read it you should look it up. It is one of my favorites to reflect on when someone has passed away.

Good Morning DDA,

Wanted to try and catch up as I have another busy day ahead of me. Yesterday I had 5 kids all day as school is out and I am watching my girlfriends 2 kids for her the next week and a half, plus a run to dr for Molly as she has another sinus infection and has been pretty miserable.

Paula and Denise, :grouphug: to you both as you help your friends through this sad time. Just letting them know you are there for them is such a comfort.

Nicholas, :cheer2: :jumping1: Congrats on the lost tooth! Hope the Tooth Fairy was good to you! And you made the Lost Tooth Club at school :jumping1: :cheer2:

Tammi, Good to see you around! I showed Emma Nicholas' picture and she thought he was cute! Yesterday our neighbor, Gail, was over for dinner and Emma was telling her about her "marrying man" Nicholas, my girlfriend's son who is 6 weeks younger than Emma. Then she told Gail that she liked a boy in her class, Nick. And Gail told her that she was very smart to have figured out that if she was going to have mutiple boyfriends then they should all have the same name.,she's only 6! So it looks as if your Nicholas has been added to that list!

Kate, Glad to hear that the EKG went so well for Nick, keep us posted on the results. I think I forgot to mention that I am happy that you have a scheduled date for surgery and :wizard: that it will fix the problems with your knee.

Denise, Have fun at the :beach: You guys deserve some down time. BTW, I say if DH wants the CR than go with that. It sounds like a good plan to introduce the ASMo to the kids this coming trip and then stay there on a later trip.

Paula, If you really do find a trese that produces money please mail me some seeds. I am in the same boat, needing something to bring in some extra money.

Bernadette, Good to see you around again. Isn't that funny about our Emma's.

Tia, I would appreciate the Ellis Island information when you get a chance, No rush though. I don't know if we will be able to find much out as Eric's grandfather is not here anymore and his grandmother has said that the family name was changed drastically when they came through.

Jen, Glad to hear your sinuses are getting better and that surgery is on hold.

Deb, Sorry to hear you won't be riding this weekend but how great of Chris to make that decision for you. I am sure you will find something fun to replace it with.

Theresa, Sorry to hear you still are not feeling well. Hope you wake up today feeling better. And just thinking of Chuck, or any man for that matter, pregnant makes me :faint:

Stephanie, So are you going in September or December or both? If you went is Sept would you be able to do MNSSHP? I really want to do that when Molly is older.

Lynn, I love hanging out with my girlfriends at home, much more relaxed and no time constraints! Glad to hear you had a great time!

Anne Marie, I would pay you to organize my photos and such. I keep thinking that it would have to be a pretty profitable business. I love the circus graduation, what a cute idea!

Clare, :cheer2: on the assignments! Enjoy the time off!

Theresa, Congrats! Sawyer is soo cute and I love his name!

Heidi, I love your Bear!

Well my girls are up and the 3 others are here so I have to go make breakfast, cinnamon rolls! I may check in at nap time, which can't come fast enough!!

If y'all can stand any more posts from me tonight, I'd like to do an unofficial poll.

We're down to 2 names and I'm interested to know which you like better and how many girls you know with these names. I checked the popular baby name lists and they're #22 and #82 (out of 100).

Anyway, the two names are Caroline and Lauren. The middle name is Elizabeth. Our last name will go well with all of them. I don't want to post it here but if you can't choose without knowing, PM me :teeth: .

One name is DH and Christopher's favorite. The other is my favorite.

Hard pick! I like them both. My personal choice would be Lauren Elizabeth, but that's probably because I have a Laura. I know fewer Carolines, though, so if you want less common, you may want to go with that. My kids are older...I think I know one Caroline (pronounced Car-o-line) who is 12 and a Carolian (pronounced Car-o-lyn) who is about 8, and a younger sister of one of my preschoolers is Carolyn. I haven't had a Caroline come through a 2's or 3's class since I've been teaching (6 years). In that time, there have been 3 Laurens. I can't think of any Laurens around Miles age (7), but there are several around my older two (12 and 15).

Welcome back, sounds like a nice time with your family. My DH wants to go to Ellis Island to see if he can find records of his grandfather.

I found the search engines. There is a basic one available at http://www.ellisisland.org/

This one searches pretty easily if the name is an easy spelling or you are sure of it.

Another site:
http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/EIDB/

This one can search with more specifics and also can do a "sounds like" on the name. This worked great for Phil's Greek names that had about 6 different spellings depending on what the agent wrote down. We also used this to see all of the other people that came from the same towns and were able to locate the records of more distant relatives.

Also, once we found the spellings on the 2nd engine, we would go back to the ellisisland.org one and look up the name again. From there you can see scans of the actual manifests they were listed on. You can also see pictures of the ships they travelled on.

It was really neat to be able to compile all of this information on people we barely knew the names of, let alone much else.

Good morning!

Dawn I like the name Lauren(this is my nieces name :goodvibes )

Paula glad to see you posting again & I am very sorry to hear about your friends dd :grouphug:

Denise the link you posted had me in tears. I just couldn't imagine & makes me so thankful that my boys are healthy :grouphug:

Kate I am glad Nick made it through his ekg fine :goodvibes

Nicholas congrats on losing your 1st tooth :cheer2:

Stephanie if I could afford an extra trip, I would go for it!

Teresa congrats on the birth of your nephew

I know I missed alot, so here is some :wizard: & :grouphug: for those in need.

I am off to work, hope everyone has a wonderful day :sunny:

Don't give up on me yet. I still want to do a trip report.

You, and Phil and Terra, have been in my thoughts and prayers. I really wish I could do more for you but the 50 miles might as well be 500 the way my life is right now. I am feeling so stressed and like a bit of a looser for feeling so stressed. Phil is so lucky to have you! I am not as patient/understanding with my DH and he's driving me crazy lately. He went to the beach last week and dropped his brand new cell phone in the ocean. He had it in a Tshirt pocket and then of course it became my problem because I can't leave him at home with 3 kids without a cell phone so I had to give him mine and he can't handle going to the Verizon store to fix it. I went to the Verizon store to get it fixed and had to wait 1 1/2 hours for the repair. I called him to let him know it would take that long and then called him at 8pm to tell him it was all fixed (they did it for free!) and he told me he hadn't fed the kids yet. :confused3 I just feel like my life is a bit out of control. He's not at all lazy but he just can't function and if I try to say anything to him he acts like I'm trying to attack him personally. I'm hoping things will improve next year with more of a schedule-Joe & Lizzie in school full days and Emma in preschool 3 mornings. I'm anxious for the school year to be over so I can get to work early and get home earlier.

Hope Phil finds some more answers and hope you can move closer to your family soon. My SIL lives in St Louis-maybe I could meet up with you there. :rotfl:

Hey, I've had to travel to meet up with friends that lived in the same town before so why not! Thanks for your thoughts. Phil has plenty of things to drive me crazy too...especially when it comes to the child care side. Luckily, he has calmed down a lot on that side. Though, I haven't asked him about going to a work function tomorrow night either so apparently he hasn't calmed down enough.

Our move is now a definite and definitely by November. The question now is just when for certain and how far up can we move the date. My poor sister (10yo) cried terribly when we left to go our separate ways on Sunday. She will be very happy when we get there too.

Thank goodness Verizon repaired the phone for free! That could have been a costly mistake. :wizard: that things will calm down for you soon!! :grouphug:
